Starting back, Accountability thread

Hi, I'm looking to start exercising again. I was doing really well until December last year, when I got injured, stopped exercising and put all the weight back on.

I'm currently 14st 4lbs 9oz and my aim is 9st 7lbs.

I can swim regularly, I have a cross trainer, and weights. I can walk trails each morning. But I'm thinking of starting c25k again. This will probably be the 4th time I've done it, I got up to 1/2 marathon distance previously, but what is putting me off is that its really hilly around my house I llive in now and I hate an incline 😂

Theres no parkrun where I live.

Is anyone else starting back and want to join me for accountability?

Nice one @MaybeC25Kagain 👏

I’ve done some more yoga today. Still testing positive unfortunately though- looking forward to being released from house arrest and going back to running. I keep getting the notifications from the app and they make me feel guilty 😂😂 Having said that, it’s torrential rain here so not a terrible day to be stuck inside!

How’s everyone else getting on?

MissAmyPond · 30/06/2023 23:43

I finally did my W7R1 today @dreaminginrainbows - was planning to do it yesterday but (a) it was pouring down and (b) I had a really bad evening with DTS1 on Wednesday and just didn't have the energy to do it... BUT today I did 5K non stop Grin I mean non stop veeeeerrryyyy slowly but I did it!

Well done on the pool running @MaybeC25Kagain! I'm still looking at gyms but it's not urgent yet until the weather turns too dark and/ or cold to run outside in (and the DC turn 8 so it's more worthwhile!). Miss going swimming though!

MaybeC25Kagain · 03/07/2023 09:04

Well done 👏

I just did w3,r1 this morning, and then 15mins on the cross trainer, and I'll probably swim for a while this evening too.

I didn't have the best weekend diet wise so need to make up for it now 😂- Although I was in the pool all day on Saturday, but then I ate bread with dinner and a few sugar-free icecreams and a couple of glasses of tinto de verano yesterday. And then emapandas for dinner so I went a bit overboard with the carbs really. And we have our wedding anniversary this week so will be eating out for that, but sod it, high days and holidays are for enjoying.

Hows everyone else getting on?

Well done on keeping going @MaybeC25Kagain!

I was all set to do another 5K run today (my third) but DTS2 was ill last night - high temperature, shivery, aches & pains etc - and although he's been well enough to go to school today, I'm feeling rotten now! I'm WFH today and sorely tempted to curl up on the sofa with my laptop instead of sitting diligently at a desk...

MissAmyPond · 06/07/2023 14:03

Are you all better now @dreaminginrainbows?

Another 5K for me today - slower than before (probably because I missed Tuesday's run), but at least I did it. When does running get easier/ more enjoyable?! I'd really like to know...

Hope you're still enjoying the swimming @MaybeC25Kagain !

dreaminginrainbows · 09/07/2023 12:07

Well done on the 5k @MissAmyPond You’re doing amazing! I’ve been in hospital for a few days with post-Covid pneumonia so feeling pretty dreadful! Hoping to be back up and about soon though. I actually miss exercise- what have I become 😂

How are you getting on @MaybeC25Kagain?

MissAmyPond · 09/07/2023 23:45

Oh dear, I hope you are recovering well @dreaminginrainbows ! Is there any (gentle!) exercise the hospital can recommend for recovery?

I actually did my first ever Parkrun yesterday - I was pretty dreadful but hey, I got round!!

Hope you are doing well too @MaybeC25Kagain ?

MaybeC25Kagain · 10/07/2023 10:56

Hello, I got a bit tired last week, I think I was overdoing it a bit. So I kept putting it off and didn't end up doing w3 r 2 & 3 so I'll get back on it today. Also fell of the wagon diet-wise too.

Thats sound awful @dreaminginrainbows I hope you feel better soon.

Well done @MissAmyPond 👏

I started week 3 again yesterday, will do the next one tomorrow and really try not to deviate from my schedule now.

Are you feeling any better @dreaminginrainbows?

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 11/07/2023 12:40

Well done on getting back to it @MaybeC25Kagain!! It's so tough when you have to stop for whatever reason!

I had to give DTS1 a piggyback yesterday for a good 10 minutes, his shoe broke whilst we were out walking. I was fully intending to do another 5K run this morning but gave up after 2.5K as I was just too achey!!

MaybeC25Kagain · 13/07/2023 08:52

@MissAmyPond Yes I've found any disruption throws me out so I need to stick to my routine religiously.

w3,r2 done yesterday.

MaybeC25Kagain · 17/07/2023 09:58

I completed w3 last week, ready to start w4 this evening.

Did lots of swimming over the weekend but no walking or anything else.

Are you feelling better @dreaminginrainbows ?
How are you getting on @MissAmyPond ?

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 17/07/2023 23:53

I'm taking things very slowly @MaybeC25Kagain as I'm now full of cold (I know, in July!!) - I feel like a bit of running is good for me to get me sweating out a few germs but not too much...

Hope you're recovering well @dreaminginrainbows

MaybeC25Kagain · 18/07/2023 09:24

Oh no, how awful @MissAmyPond 😔

Thank you @MaybeC25Kagain - I managed a 3K plod run today but it was a struggle!! Then I reminded myself that three months ago I couldn't run 3K so I suppose it was a win?! Just frustrating...!

MaybeC25Kagain · 19/07/2023 10:59

@MissAmyPond Well done, any run is better then no run 💪

That being said, I need to get my arse in gear, I didn't do w4,r1 on Monday and am giong to do it tonight.

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 20/07/2023 13:09

I could only do a longer walk today @MaybeC25Kagain - too much coughing!! But felt it was better than not walking, I suppose?! Did you manage to do your run last night?

MaybeC25Kagain · 20/07/2023 13:27

@MissAmyPond No I didn't 😳I was going to do it 3 times tomorrow in the pool cos I'm off work 😆

OP posts:
MaybeC25Kagain · 31/07/2023 09:22

Hi, Hows everyone doing? Still gong?

I fell off the wagon again and haven't done anything specific for about 2 weeks but going to start again today.

I'm wondering whether to start from the beginning or week 4, but I think I might start from w1 again.

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 31/07/2023 23:28

I've had such a cough @MaybeC25Kagain that I haven't been able to move much at all! It finally seems to be shifting now but I have no time at the moment between work and taking the DC to and from holiday clubs Confused would like to get back to running as soon as I can!

MaybeC25Kagain · 01/08/2023 13:11

@MissAmyPond Oh no, thats awful. I hope you're better soon. I'm going to start next monday, i'm going to have this week of eating properly to get rid of some inflammation and lethargy and then restart with some structure on Monday. I've been doing some light swimming most days but nothing that would really count as exercise.

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 01/08/2023 23:41

Thank you @MaybeC25Kagain, I'm almost back to normal now, just trying to find some time to exercise between work and ferrying the DC to holiday clubs!

Do you take a decent vitamin BTW? I always feel better when I remember to take mine, but that may just be a placebo effect Grin

MaybeC25Kagain · 02/08/2023 09:27

I take them every morning with my HRT @MissAmyPond . They aren't fancy ones, the ones I have at the moment are from tesco when I was last back home. I take a multivitamin, b12, vit D and then the HRT.

When I had blood tests before, my b12 was almost dangerously low and I had to have injections for a few weeks and then take the vitamin every day and my Vit D was a bit low so the Dr told me to take that too. I'm also supposed to try to bring my good cholesterol up too by eating mackerel and walnuts etc. I should go back for tests again soon but I want 3 months straight of eating properly and exercising first to bring my HAbc1 (blood sugar) down.
