After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

Oh god yes, they can certainly be painful! I find it fascinating, my lady can tell so much about my running technique based on what she feels in my muscles.

Today mine was 'relax' 'relax' 'you arent relaxing' 'you are literally holding it up in the air' Grin

After try and chill a bit if you can and do some gentle stretching off.

Inniu · 22/01/2020 11:31

Only 7k today. I won’t try listening to current affairs when running again. Music is definitely the only way.

Just realised I had been counting down from 2000 not 1000!

Traffy · 22/01/2020 12:20

@OhYouBadBadKitten thanks for the advice, much appreciated, I'll be sure to let her know I'm a total newbie to massage.

Another question, the sports massage place is only a mile away so I was planning on walking there/back home, do you think this will be fine or should I drive?

TriSkiRun99 · 22/01/2020 13:22

I’d walk if it’s only a mile traffy it will be fine, I go monthly for a sports massage they are all different but I’ve found a fab lady now who most definitely keeps me moving!

A beach run at lunchtime today, the best perk of working from home. Very gloomie weather but 6.5k done even if my calves were screaming at me after Monday’s run.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/01/2020 13:25

Walking will be fine :) I cycled to mine today, so can add another 3 miles.

20/480 miles cycled.
cycling is clearly a work in progress so far this year. Never mind, it'll pick up.

Traffy · 22/01/2020 13:37

Great, thank you! I'll stop derailing the thread now :)

Just a 3k for me today: 63.1/936.9

TriSkiRun99 · 22/01/2020 14:01

Glad you are on the mend bear, I too really have to look after my body or it injuries quickly. My monthly massage is part of that process along with 15-20mins of yoga stretches most days. I made myself do some lunges on the beach today ignoring the dog walkers thinking whats the crazy lady doing Grin

My totals updated as I couldn’t see them on my phone when I posted.

Running 96.5km
Swimming 3.5k
Cycling 45km

ErrolTheDragon · 22/01/2020 15:50

I wasn't expecting to do more than a couple of km as it's my conservation volunteering day and we're usually only about a km from where I park. But we walked to the far end to check out some other areas we might work on, so 7.3 km (plus a morning of bramble hacking).Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/01/2020 21:48

I need some podcasts for solo runs. Or an audiobook.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/01/2020 22:45

@OhYouBadBadKitten there's a series of podcasts called feel better, live more and I like them while I'm doing my slow 'podcast run' - loads of topics, all health related, very informative.

Smidge over 6 done today after school drop off and before my first meeting. Both ankle and knee feeling good!

Ultra training plan has me doing half marathon distance tomorrow, but I'm at a memorial service this afternoon that is likely to go on. We shall see if I can manage it...

Takes me to 115/1600

TriSkiRun99 · 24/01/2020 12:34

I love RunPod with Jennie Falconer she chats to lots of different folk about running, I did a slow 14m last week listening to a few back to back. I do run a lot slower though when listening to talking stuff?! I tend to run most other runs with no headphones these days.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2020 12:50

Standard 5km. I was doing quite well with a wee bit more of pathetically slow running intervals, until on the way back I incautiously blew my nose and started it bleeding- I've got a delicate schnoz.Hmm at least I'd remembered to put a tissue in each pocket this time.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/01/2020 13:01

10.5 km today

10K today. My first time doing that in under an hour.

88k/912

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2020 17:18

Thanks for the recommendations :) I'll have a listen to both! I was listening to political ones but they dont induce a happy state of mind.

4 mile walk. 131/869 I was going to be going for a bike ride instead but quite frankly, I couldn't be arsed.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2020 17:28

I'm eschewing headphones at the moment and trying to pay attention to my surroundings - there's quite a lot of bird life along my regular canal sections. Not always successfully, I practically tripped over a heron yesterday before it flew out of the reeds because I was thinking about mindfulness instead of practicing it.HmmGrin

TriSkiRun99 · 25/01/2020 11:29

ParkRun sandwich today and was SO close to getting a PB...but my fastest run for 9mths. Smile

Running 105km
Swimming 4km
Cycling 45km

TriSkiRun99 · 25/01/2020 11:51

I laughed out loud at that Errol Grin it’s the sort of thing I would do. I use a mindfulness app with my kids at bedtime to help them sleep and I find it relaxing too.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/01/2020 11:33

A useful 5km yesterday - the local nursery is about 2 km away so I slightly overshot and then returned with a couple of pots each of daffs and snowdrops.

Today will be only the second time this month that rain is keeping me in (I'm a wimp) so 5km on the rower instead.

Jumbojem · 26/01/2020 13:04

Hello,
Can't remember when I last posted on this thread but trying to remember to check in weekly. Managed a 5k in the rain today, but not the 10k I was hoping for!
