After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

Ahh I had a minor gynae procedure yesterday which was a bit more involved than I realised. I think I might not be running for a few days.

TriSkiRun99 · 02/07/2020 19:29

Hope you can rest up and feel better soon inniu

My weight loss has stalled as I expected with hormones kicking in only 0.5lb off in last few days but I’m holding strong on the eating and no hormonal migraine this month so far yah! Cycled down for a sea swim this morn it was rather 🥶 compared to last few weeks, but refreshing. Plus I’d missed off a couple of quick nips out on the bike for shopping etc so updated total.

5.2 yesterday - we thought there would be a break in the rain today but it didn't happen.

Really late updating this week, it's been a busy week! 23.46 miles of walking done this week.

Slowly getting there!

18k this morning, furthest I've ever run non-stop! Aiming for half marathon distance by mid August.

Wow, well done!

So, after the week from hell workwise, yesterday my poor old dog slipped a disc. Fortunately our vets does emergency appointments on a Sunday, and so do the orthopaedic specialists ~40 minutes drive up the motorway - so, he's already been CT scanned, operated on and round from the general anaesthetic. It will be a while till we know how he'll recover, of course.

So needless to say today's walking plans evaporated. Not sure I can summon up enthusiasm for the rower... maybe I'd better draw a line under this week and call it a (nearly) halfway break.

SpringFan · 05/07/2020 18:22

Oh that sounds horrible for the poor dog. Hope he recovers well.
Well done Brimful. Impressive.
I did a nice 6K walk this afternoon on a permissive walk by the river. Plenty of skylarks, dragon flies and butterflies. DS and I signed up to the Strava challenge to walk a minimum of 1 hour twice a week for 8 weeks. Its getting my distance up.
Its funny, I started the year wanting to walk 1 mile per day, and I seem to have morphed into doing 2-3 miles 4 or 5 times a week, aiming for 1000K. A mile seems nothing now.

@SpringFan well done. When I started running I promised myself I'd do 10 minutes a day on the treadmill...and by the end of the year I'd done almost 1000 miles! I think it's because the first few times can seem almost impossible-but our bodies are made to run and it very quickly gets easier. Well done!

Hope your dog recovers errol, poor thing. We’ve just become puppy owners so that’s another thing to factor in when trying to escape kids and house for some exercise!

I did a hitt session this morning plus a bike ride and sea swim tonight which was lovely in the evening sun. Also out on our bikes with my DD over the weekend.

Sounds awesome to me!
No walk today - we got the dog home. He's in fine voice, good appetite and walking with a bit of support from a bungee round his back end, though we need to keep him rested .... so that's me stuck on the sofa for a while I fear.

amysaurus87 · 07/07/2020 17:44

Slow due to having quite a revolting impressive toe injury after Tuesday, which has resulted in my having a hole where my toenail used to be.

OP posts:
Brimful · 11/07/2020 14:38

Gutted, I'm injured.

No running for a long while, I won't hit 1000km running this year :(

Good luck everyone x

Inniu · 11/07/2020 21:16

Sorry to hear about the injury. Not being able to run is very tough.

I did my first run in 11 days this morning. I thought my stitches would know me out for a few days. I didn’t think it would be this long.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2020 08:21

@Brimful oh no, hope you get better soon. Running injuries suck but the best thing is rest. At least you can see a sports therapist now Flowers

ErrolTheDragon · 12/07/2020 15:13

Oh, that's rotten luck, brimful.

DD and DH went out yesterday, so she took her turn of dog-sitting today while DH and I walked. 11km, beautiful day.

Eweee hope the toe nail recovers bear and you feel better soon brimful it’s not easy but try to focus on what you can do. I won’t run 1000k this year due to injury issues but I’m focusing on other things, strength training, cycling, swimming and losing weight which I can never seem to do when I run more.

Had 3x sea swims and a 8.5k run over the weekend. I’ve had a sports massage booked in for months today so I’m waiting to see if they open as planned today as I’ve really missed my monthly treatment.
