After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

I've managed a fair bit of walking this week, up to 82km

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/02/2020 07:41

@TriSkiRun99 that's a shame, I hope they credit you.

Forgot to update yesterday - did my long run of 30km 😱 can't quite believe I managed it, 3h22 on my feet. Had to dig deep at a couple of points but I'm feeling a lot more confident about my ultra in March now. I was tired when I finished, but I could have gone on.

I need to do 10km recovery run today, but it's a bit breezy outside... we are covered by the amber warning so possibly not the best idea.

201/1600 done!

ErrolTheDragon · 09/02/2020 11:58

Well done!I'm in awe of long distance runners.

Gardening yesterday so no walk - and today, having had the most intense rain-lashed rain I've seen since in lived in the US I'm going nowhere.
So, 5km on the rower

I can't run quick. So I run long. And I'm actually starting to really love it. Hours and hours of headspace. I have audiobooks and Spotify and podcasts.

14 km today with Dh in the midst of storm ciara! We got lost, only planned to do 10!

I have decided not to walk today. I went outside to pick up a small branch from a tree across the road which had come down and landed on our drive and struggled to walk to it. Even more fun when trying to carry the branch back towards the house!! I hate that tree, if it comes down it will take the electricity cables with it. Electricity people keep removing the lower branches so it is really tall with lots of green at the top of it and nothing at the bottom..
Its not for me, yet will be the first walk I have missed this year..

ErrolTheDragon · 09/02/2020 13:59

Discretion is sometimes the better part of valour.

DH was going to do some shopping but the road through the village was flooded.
It's sunny here now but still windy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 14:53

12 miles walked yesterday, doing no walking or running today!

Well done, Nothing! I’d love to be able to do runs long enough for headspace. Maybe one day.

I built a greenhouse yesterday, hopefully did a good enough job that it’ll still be there now. So only 1 mile walk, plus 2 this morning while it was still calmish.

The half was eventually cancelled once the Amber weather warning was put in place so I’m now hoping I’ll be able to run the rearranged date. After a week of no running everything still aches just as much (flipping menopausal joint ache I think..🙄), so I think I’ll just start doing slow 5ks again and see what happens but we are still covered by the weather warning through to Tuesday eve and it is wild tonight still. Well done on those out today, I did a 3m walk and nearly got my legs blown out a couple of times In the gusts!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/02/2020 21:36

I was soooo tempted to get out for a short run this afternoon, but a largish branch landing on the car put me off. Can't wait to get out and survey the change in woodland scene.

Jumbojem · 09/02/2020 22:45

Beautiful here on Saturday but DS had a cross country event so no running for me and obviously today's a write off with the weather. Well done those of you who managed to keep active in other ways, I've lain on the sofa most of the day!
5km in total this week.

38.6 miles of walking done this week! Helped massively by my little one being off nursery for 2 days.

173.88/1826.12

Worked out I need to average 39 miles a week to hit my 2000 mile target.

Inniu · 10/02/2020 11:06

5k hilly in a storm warning

I want to get outside but it's still foul here. So I gritted my teeth and put in another 5km on the rower.

7.5 today: 3.5 miles walked and 4 rowed.

Yesterday was 6 miles cycling and 5 miles walking.

213/787 miles walked and run

38/462 cycled

NothingIsWrong · 11/02/2020 14:47

Only managed 7km this morning. I am bone weary, work is an utter bitch at the moment and the wind was so buffety and gusty that I just lost heart. Feeling a bit rubbish about to be honest. 50k ultra looming at the end of March and I'm not sure I will be ready

ErrolTheDragon · 11/02/2020 19:29

Think how nice it will feel on the next calm day...

Foul here again. Slightly sore arm after a vaccination this morning so I didn't fancy the rower - half an hour on the ancient exercise bike which is mechanically sound but no metrics any more so I can't claim a distance. Hmph.

Fullyhuman · 11/02/2020 22:02

5 today: 3 rowed, 2 walked. Did the walk this evening - so cold!

Frustrating 2k run then 2k walk back as foot and shin/calf pain too much. Think I’m gonna have to switch back to cycling for the next couple of weeks 😞

Swimming 6km
Cycling 75.5km
