My DH did a marathon last weekend and hasn’t done anything this week exercise wise (which is incredibly rare for him) and feels really flat, I do think there is an adrenaline crash after an event that you have spent months building up to. ive had that crash and normally try to get over it by planning the next thing Grin. I’m getting nervous about my first long Tri next weekend but also I’ve got nothing planned after it so I’ll need to find my next challenge soon Smile

CarrotPuff · 11/05/2019 15:03

I've still a month to go till my half but I think I'll put running on back burner for a bit after that and concentrate on strength training - I'm developing all sorts of aches now that I'm running longer, I think I really need to focus on my core!

3 miles earlier in the week, 8.9 just now. Legs felt really heavy, had to walk for a bit Confused

I definitely go through phases, especially after I’ve done a ‘race’. I find it takes me a while to get back in to running for pleasure.
Went out yesterday morning and had a really lovely run and it wasn’t too hard either as I hadn’t been out for ages.

That's reassuring, thanks. My new brooks arrived yesterday and the sun is shining so hopefully my run today will be back to being enjoyable and less like a chore!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/05/2019 08:50

I'm concentrating on strength training too at the moment. I hate it - no endorphins to make it nice! But needs must.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/05/2019 08:50

Have a lovely run Bear!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/05/2019 09:13

What do you do ohyou? I have gotten a bit addicted to hiit workouts in YouTube, and I try and do one a day alongside my running regime. Or I do a circuits class which is great fun.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/05/2019 09:26

I do a home routine devised by my physio with some weights and bands. It's so boring. Maybe I should try some hiits videos instead. I have a horror of any class exercise and haven't done any since pe at school Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/05/2019 11:13

Oh there's so many on there, you're missing out!! I love Emi Wong, there's some really good ones with no jumps and even the beginner ones are good, or fitness blenders are good too. I like that YouTube just brings up the next one at random, it keeps the variety going.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/05/2019 11:15

Cool. I'll have a look. Thanks!

Long slow run in the sunshine this morning and got musical accompaniment for the last mile from the pipe band championships in the park!

Short run in the sunshine this evening. I got half way and suddenly ran out of energy. Figured I had headed off to fast, so slowed down a bit but not much as I wanted to get home. Pleased with my overall time but definitely couldn’t have gone any further at that pace.
I like the sound of running to pipe bands or is it the wrong tempo?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/05/2019 21:46

That's pretty cool Emummy. I got out for a short run too. 148

emummy · 14/05/2019 11:10

Tempo run in the hot sun today. Benefit of Dd1 being on study leave - when I got back she met me with a freshly made smoothie! It was heaven! No pipe bands today - when I passed them on Sunday I was nearly finished and they peeked me up! Just the right pace too!

Running later - forgot and washed my hair this morning meaning I’ll need to wash again later. First world running problems hey ...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2019 13:17

Oh yes! The when do I wash my hair dilemma!

Kedgeree · 14/05/2019 15:48

10k on Sunday and 5k last night. I'm aiming to run every day this week having had two weeks off what with one thing and another. feeling very gloomy about my HM prospects in July. I don't think I can do the distance.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 14/05/2019 19:48

Back and hair washed. AGAIN.
Kedgeree- of course you can do it. I went from zero for months and then trained for my half in about 8 weeks from a slow 10k base. I haven’t done it yet but I think I can. Running gently this week so 3 miles tonight.
Eek. Forgotten to look at number again to add it on.

CarrotPuff · 14/05/2019 22:41

Can anyone recommend good ankle socks? For running obvs. Nice and thick that wouldn't slip down.

And cropped running leggings for less than £20...

emummy · 14/05/2019 22:48

I always wear Hilly socks, they're fab and never had any blisters.
Kedgeree have faith in yourself. You can do it, just keep steadily on.

I've cheered up a bit, thank you for your encouragement. Couldn't run yesterday as I got home from work too late, but ran a steep, hot 5k this morning after PT which made me feel very virtuous Grin.

BusterTheBulldog · 16/05/2019 08:52

I use the injinji toe socks carrotpuff as I suffer from blisters too, they seem to really help and definitely stay in place. Tk max can be worth a look for cheap leggings.

Steady running generally for me. 10k pace intervals yesterday and hopefully track session later.

Good luck for your tri triskirun99!

25.3 since my last post.

TriSkiRun99 · 16/05/2019 18:31

Thanks buster. I did a slow 5k this morning as picked up a niggly hip flexor again Sad it’s reoccurring niggle from 2xC-Sec scar tissue I think I aggravated it swimming breaststroke last week in a training session. So will force myself to do nothing much till Sundays Tri now, I’m ParkRun Marshalling Sat so will watch others enjoying their run instead.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 16/05/2019 19:33

Hope the hips are ok Tri
I’m debating what to do. Half on Sunday. Co flirting advice. Friends say rest. Plan says 20 minutes. Heart says run a bit in case I’ve forgotten how since Tuesday Confused
