This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

Dd & I are heading to Inverness on Saturday; hoping to see Vassos Alexander at the expo - well, I am, Dd not so much!

Stingynettle · 29/09/2019 18:01

Sadly the way my train times work, I'll probably miss Vassos. Is your dd doing any of the events?

emummy · 29/09/2019 19:25

No, her job is chief cheerleader and carrier of lucozade!

Hello everyone, can I join this group please? I'm trying to get back into running after a long-ish break and need some motivation! Going to try to get out early tomorrow morning before the baby wakes up and I'm quite excited 😄

emummy · 29/09/2019 20:53

Welcome WaitingforToto! Early morning runs are the best, enjoy!

Thanks @emummy I managed a lovely 5.4 miler at 5:30am! It was eerily dark - I think I'll have to invest in a head torch (and some gloves) if I'm going to keep this up over winter

emummy · 30/09/2019 07:58

Great, well done! Agree with getting a head torch; you might also want to think about some reflective clothing like tights or there are little vests you can wear that light up in car headlights.

It's been a few days since I last posted, and since then I've done a couple of parkruns, a few easy commutes, and some club runs, including an immensely soggy session this evening.

The socks that put up with all that, and I find stay comfy even when soaked, are Stance. Which are a very colourful brand. Also happy with Hilly (which were the first run-specific socks I had).

It's the start of a new month tomorrow! Which brings ballot results....

Welcome Waiting and definitely agree on reflective clothing/lights.
I bet you are both super excited emummy and Stingynettle And such a beautiful route. Let us know if you spot Nessie Grin
My lovely run in the rain, from last night to add

Absolutely gorgeous morning here, and also rather chilly - 3.5 degrees! Had an easy run in one of my favourite forests with the dog, didn't see another soul, it was great. And my new pants have arrived in time for the race, hurray!

Lovely run in the dark again this morning (with a normal torch, until my head torch arrives tomorrow), it was freezing cold but a great way to start the day 👍

Stingynettle · 02/10/2019 13:23

A chilly 3 miles last night which I foolishly ran in a short sleeved shirt. Meant I ended up going faster than planned. I need to unearth my winter running stuff.

Yay to new running pants arriving on time emummy!

Wet hills session last night hence slightly damp interval session tonight. Gloves on tonight but still in shorts and t shirt.

@emummy let us know if you get to see Vassos
@WaitingforToto well done for getting out again

Easy 3 miles this evening. Last run before Sunday's marathon (gulp!)

Went along to my local running club last night for a test-session with them, really enjoyed it despite heavy rain at the end. Running with people always pushes me to run faster than when I'm on my own which is good.

WaitingforToto · 04/10/2019 08:37

Massive good luck to everyone racing at the weekend, which marathon are you doing @Stingynettle? I love the final taper, so nice to enjoy not feeling guilty about resting!

emummy · 04/10/2019 10:43

It sounds like your running is going great Waiting.
No running today, I have an interview instead! And another one next week with the marathon in the middle. Not the most relaxing week! But I have my running pants, my poncho to keep dry at the start & old clothes to wear so we are ready to go. Driving to Loch Ness tomorrow with Dd, who is 14 & in charge of the playlist for the drive! Looking forward to the weekend away! Good luck stingy; I am very tall & will have a RunMummyRun cap on so wave if you see me'

Stingynettle · 04/10/2019 13:39

Thanks WaitingforToto. I'm running Loch Ness (as is emummy). It's my first marathon. The taper would have been more enjoyable had DD not generously given me her cold. I should be less snotty by Sunday!

Good luck with you interviews emummy and enjoy your DD's choice of tunes. I'm travelling by train as I didn't fancy a long drive after the event. I'll look out for you (and your hat!). I'm short and will be sporting a black and orange Ronhill hairband.

WaitingforToto · 04/10/2019 14:16

I bet Loch Ness is a beautiful run @Stingynettle and @emummy, plenty of lovely scenery to take your mind off the miles. Enjoy the post-race glow afterwards! I've done York twice and am considering signing up again for 2020, you are inspiring me to take the plunge 😀

AbuelitaAyahuasca · 04/10/2019 18:56

Envy Loch Ness must be incredible!

Hope it’s okay to join in here? Returned to running this week after quite some time, signed up for a half in December - gives me 8 training weeks. I’m so happy to be back!

10.9 plus 7.3 = 18.2 (?)

emummy · 04/10/2019 21:08

Welcome Abuelita! Good luck with your training.

WaitingforToto · 06/10/2019 09:28

Enjoy today @emummy and @Stingynettle, just keep putting one foot in front of the other! You've got this!
