Easy run in the forest with dog today - very easy because she was on go-slow mode & I kept having to stop & wait for her! Still, it meant I got my breath back on the hills.

Welcome Groovie Definitely second the good advice from the others (they are very good at that Smile ).
I am a bit of a solitary runner, which is why I’m loving my holiday running with just sheep and sometimes the dog. But I find in a race with lots of people it is different and the other people help you keep going. But I would try some quieter events first just so it is not as overwhelming.
Second the thought that it is the finishing that is the most important. But do train for the distance, if you have even a small amount of competitiveness in you, you want to feel you’ve done yourself justice- if that make sense - you want to complete in the time you know you can do whether that means coming first or last. And enjoy the medal even more.
Happy birthday Chesney
Lovely run up a big hill today. The coming down was fun too - I'm getting more confident with this now. I’m so going to miss the hills and scenery when I go back to the flatlands 🙁

Morning all, nothing to add from me running wise. Totally wiped out from a cold and entertaining my boys this summer hols. But I've been out dog walking to get my nature fix which has been lovely. 🐶

Just wanted to add my experience on HM for you too, groovie. I remember training for my first one, assuming I'd do a particular time but then on the day I ran so much better. The adrenaline and the other runners sweep you up and its such great fun. Definitely go for it! Smile

I'm off on hols to the Scottish Highlands tomorrow, packed my running kit and looking forward to some exploring.

IRun4Me · 23/08/2019 09:01

Carrot I’m coming home from there tomorrow. 😢Definitely pack the running kit - the runs and scenery are amazing.
Oh and the weather is meant to improve as we leave!

emummy · 23/08/2019 10:06

Glad you've enjoyed your runs up at my end of the country IRun! Carrot I hope you have happy midge-free runs!

A quick 6k this morning as we are off out for a birthday celebration. It was already really warm when I got out and it was a bit of a struggle keeping the pace and heart rate consistent.

Loving this weather!

Friday was 5 mile tempo run at the pace I want to race my half marathon at. Hopefully build it up a mile or so every week.

Saturday easy off road 5 miles at went out at 4pm.

Today I did 12 miles on and off road. Was lovely! Tried a camelbak for first time too as left home about 8.30am and was already warm.

Good work @Chesneyhawkes1 looks like your building nicely for the half.
I got out a bit earlier today, I'm still in recovery mode after the ultra so did an easy 10k

I feel I’ve got my running mojo back. Now to work on the getting out of bed early mojo. I forced myself out this morning as wanted to get out before it got too hot.

Getting up early is real challenge! Well done IRun!
Mixed pace run this morning; felt a bit rubbish for the first 2 miles then it improved. 2 out of my 3 children have had a vomiting bug so I am kind of holding my breath to see if I escape it! Lovely day here today, sunny but a bit cooler.

Yay for the mojo @IRun4Me !

Yesterday I did the run for PC Harper. Was weird using my watch set to KM. I only know miles and min/miles.

Today is a day off as was up at 4am for work and it's hot and I'm tired 😂 back on it tomorrow

Well I suffered this evening, I did an interval session 500 metre efforts it was only 6k in total but it was hard after the last couple of days. My legs are still pretty tired, I've got a rest day tomorrow which I'm looking forward to. I've got runs planned for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Non of them are very long as it's still recovery time after the Ultra. My longest planned run in the next 6 weeks is 1 hour 40 minutes so gradually building the mileage back up.

Hilly & technical trail run today with dog in the forest. Lovely views from the top of the hill & dog had much fun finding streams and puddles to jump in.

Day off did me the world of good. Had a nap instead of running 😊

Yesterday I did 5 miles off road, my usual steady run.

Today I did intervals on the treadmill. 4 x 1 mile with 2 mins recovery between. Total 6.2 miles.

Mojo is currently on hold. DH kindly gave me his cold, I carried on for a bit but now it’s well and truly on my chest so I’m enforced resting. Desperate to get out so I’m hoping that means the mojo won’t disappear

emummy · 30/08/2019 12:58

Oh no, hope you are better soon. All my children have now had the sickness bug, Dh & I still holding out!
Intervals today, felt good in the drizzle!

Long run in the sunshine today, thought the route would be flatter overall - I was wrong! Still, the hillieness gives me an excuse for being slow. Great run though and included 7 miles of new route which made it more interesting, although I could have done without having to climb a stile at mile 16!

19 miles this afternoon and ran at slightly faster than marathon pace for the last 2 miles which felt quite good. Adding another 32 since my last post.

AuntieStella · 03/09/2019 08:21

A quick prayer st to add the mikes from the second half of August - which I'm putting on the total from emummy

August: 510.52

Then taking the 19 from Stingynettle to add to my intervals workout and club run yesterday, to give a new figure:

September 25.4

emummy · 03/09/2019 11:23

Thanks for reminding me it's September AuntieStella! Mixed pace run this morning, much cooler weather this week. Legs have recovered well from Sunday's 20 miles thank goodness,

Just a short one to get back in to it. Definitely feels like summer is nearly gone

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/09/2019 17:24

September already!

A quick 4 miles yesterday as I'd left it late to run and wanted my dinner 😊

Today I did 15.1 off and on road. Had a lie in so didn't go out til 11am. Was warmer than I thought and was starving when I got home!

Lovely easy run with dog this morning; headed along the road to a lovely estate and ran along a river, past a loch and through pine forests. Dog had a wonderful time jumping in the water and I am feeling very relaxed. Happy days!
