This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

It's much fresher today isn't it :)

I went a bit crazy with cycling out places last week, I need to pace myself more Grin It's just that it's summer, I have a bit of time off and I want to be freeeeeeeeee!

CarrotCakeEveryTime · 07/08/2019 20:15

Congrats on the PB east!

Two runs to add in for me, my favourite local loop taking in fields and woods.

Really could not be bothered tonight, but I was rewarded with golden, freshly harvested fields glowing in the sunlight! ☀

I've earned my glass of wine ~or two~

Great stuff Carrot. Did you do 13 miles then, making the total 104.8? That run sounds lovely!

CarrotCakeEveryTime · 07/08/2019 22:37

emummy 13 miles is my August total after my two runs this week.

Is that the right thing to do?

Do the thread totals get totted up too by month?

Sorry if I'm doing it all wrong!Confused

CarrotCakeEveryTime · 07/08/2019 22:42

Sorry... That wasn't clear. 7.7miles to add since my last post.

I think I get it now, the bold total is the thread total by month?

emummy · 07/08/2019 23:00

That's fine, we add your runs onto the main total, so after each run or whenever you like.

BusterTheBulldog · 08/08/2019 10:50

26 miles since my last post, have 17 to do on sat, dreading it a bit!

My miles plus carrotcakeeverytime’s gives

137.7

Chesneyhawkes1 · 08/08/2019 17:49

Me neither some days @IRun4Me 😂

Rotating shifts were the reason I gave up running 15 years ago. I just didn't have the energy. I guess I've had a long time to acclimatise.

5 miles off road for me today. I've started to do some runs a bit easier as it's been pointed out to me I run hard every time. Apparently this is not good.

So hopefully legs will be ready for some intervals tomorrow!

Sooo I'm back running after a 3 week break... gosh that was hard, only managed to do 2.5 miles 😳

Windy park run this morning. Couldn't find my bloody barcode so it's not recorded!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 10/08/2019 19:39

So today at 6am on a very wet and windy morning in South Snowdonia, I set off on a greatly revised Ultra Trail Wales. They were unable to run the original high level mountain course due to safety reasons. So they devised a new equally challenging lower level route run over laps. Anyway it went really until the second lap when my ankle and knee flared up again. So I had to walk slow run in so I ended up a bit slower then I'd hoped. But I finished and I'm pretty chuffed.
So it was 58.78 kms or 36.7 miles.

Wow, well done Alex! That looks like a tough race. Hope your joints are recovered soon.

Long run today, persistent poor sleep recently caught up with me and it was a real slog. But at least it's done! And dh was out last night, won a prize in a raffle of a bottle of Babycham! Didn't even know you could still get it! So that's the recovery hydration taken care of...

Well done Alex that is so impressive. Hope the ankle and knee are better.
Well done on your PB east
I didn’t know you could still get babycham either emummy What does it taste like - I imagine really sweet? Grin
Aimed for 5 this morning but managed 7.5 so really pleased. It was just one of those lovely runs, although the wind was tough at times. Joy of the flat fens is there’s nothing to stop it

Wow, well done Alex.

15.5 very very wet miles this afternoon. Good job my new running shoes have arrived as I doubt the current pair would be dry for running tomorrow or Tuesday!

Adding 3 from earlier this week. Had a bit of a chesty cough so haven't been out as much.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/08/2019 19:05

Well done @Alex3101 !

I did my intervals on Friday. Did them on the treadmill to test my new trainers out.

Was meant to run Sunday but ended up down the pub with some friends for lunch. Meant to not drink much, but that didn't go to plan.

So today I ran off road to cure my hangover 🥴

emummy · 13/08/2019 07:36

Nice hangover running Chesney!
IRun it turns out Babycham is quite nice! It's like cider but made from pears and wasn't too sweet. Don't think I'll be buying it regularly though!
Mixed pace run this morning, earlier than usual as DD1 has work experience this week & has to be driven in to the city. Beautiful sunny cool morning - only 10 degrees.

Nice steady run in the forest today. Much cooler but at least no rain.

The rain has returned! And I'm happy!

Intervals yesterday, 3 x 7 mins. Was using Nike run club app which I enjoyed. I think 4/5 would be better next time though.

Today I did 9 miles off road and enjoyed splashing through the puddles.

Start my week of night shifts tonight so glad I've got my long run out the way before tiredness sets in 😂

I don't think I've posted with my August running so far. I've been away for a few days, and managed to run every day during that, mainly on trail which was a nice change.

Also as it's less hot, my times are beginning to edge back to where they should be and it's just easier/nicer! And surprisingly enjoyable to be running in the rain yesterday (a soggy 10k)

PS: emummy - I have yet to do a parkrun in Scotland, I was just musing on future tourism not recalling where I've been! And of course I might end up in northern Scotland, because I have yet to get an 'I' and I guess that can't be far from you

emummy · 15/08/2019 14:04

Ah yes, the 'I' is a couple of hours west & north of me. Our parkrun is a 'C'. I will be at the I in October for the marathon, don't think I'll be doing the parkrun though!
