This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

Glad you went out IRun. I think I must have eaten something dodgy from work buffet as my tummy is very grumbling but legs felt ok.
Now to sign up for another race...

TriSkiRun99 · 22/05/2019 21:04

I’ve had that a few times as has my hubbie “joggers tum” the inside jiggling around running can induce that horrid tum. Caffeine can make my tum do it.
5m tonight my first run after Sunday, hip still niggly so may need to rest it a bit.

TriSkiRun99 · 22/05/2019 21:05

Updated total 328 I think

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/05/2019 21:07

Might be a bit soon TriSkiRun?

I sometimes have to cut a run short due to an 'urgent tummy' but mine also feels squirly tonight Whoops so maybe there's something going round?

BusterTheBulldog · 23/05/2019 09:56

I have to be careful what I eat before running now Blush my husband has also come home with no t shirt on after a run due to a woodland accident and needing to wipe.. . (Sorry!!)

I did a trail 10k on sun that was brutal, no clear path in lots of places, pot holes and crazy elevation, I hated every step!

Club run on sat and easy-ish intervals last night. 21 miles since last post

Easy paced very hilly forest run this morning.
I have had to do the odd 'wild poo', usually if I run in the afternoon or evening, mornings are usually fine, don't know why!

Ha, I’m the opposite emummy, mornings are my dodgy time, have to get up earlier to ensure empty beforehand! 😂 joys of running!

IRun4Me · 23/05/2019 13:17

See what you’ve started now whoops 😂😂

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 23/05/2019 17:02

I’m not a poo troll I promise. I’ve really suffered lately during training but only evenings! Apologies for bringing it out there!

emummy · 23/05/2019 18:11

It's ok; you're not a real runner till you've dealt with poo issues!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 23/05/2019 20:42

I’m a real runner!
It’s all I ever wanted

Kedgeree · 23/05/2019 22:51

Nice 5 miles steep up and down in the sun this evening, feels like I've really come on since my long run at the weekend. I did debate turning for home at the halfway point owing to potentially grumbly tummy/ bowel but it didn't come to anything so I carried on Grin. I do suffer a bit from runners trots but it does seem to be improving with better fitness.

Nice work! I’m off this morning after the school run so hopefully my tummy will behave!

CarrotPuff · 24/05/2019 08:50

Well I've not had any poo issues so far, which I'm very surprised about as I've heard a lot about it. It's bound to happen during the race, won't it...

4 miles done last night, and for the first time in ages I didn't get a stitch at all!

carrot I didn’t suffer until I ran over 10m / 2hrs then it hit Sad but my long route now has two public loo stops if needed to I think knowing they are there if needed helps. Plus I now avoid caffeine before a long run & only eat one type of snack bar which I seem to be able to stomach for mid-run fuel as needed. Plus detroze tablets instead of jelly babies work for me if out over an hour.
Chose not to run today as had long swim last night and we are planning to do family ParkRun Sat with both kids so it will be gentler pace with my youngest. I feel abit sorry for her (age-7) and she earnt her 10 PR T-shirt in early April but it’s not due to arrive for 6mths Sad as she had really been looking forward to getting it. I was happy to pay for it (it was £4 p&p anyway) Still another “twisty-pet” toy has been promised this wend if she behaves Grin

IRun4Me · 24/05/2019 10:25

I’ve been lucky (fingers crossed) and all been fine with no poo issues. Often have to do wee stops though.
Tri I hope she hasn’t grown out of the T-shirt by the time it arrives

Nice run through the wood with DS and the dog. Managed to keep DS paced and only let him stop briefly once Grin

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 24/05/2019 17:11

What did I start with the poo chat?!
Just a quick one today for me but ran faster to make up for it.

CarrotPuff · 24/05/2019 19:54

Tri I'm running 11m tomorrow so I'll see if that's the limit for me!

Got my race bib tonight in the post, very exciting! Shit's getting real! (Pun not intended 😄)

Was going to ask something. Lately, my knees started hurting at the start of the run. Literally as soon as I start running. The pain goes away within the first mile or so, and they don't hurt at any point or after the run. Just at the start. Has anyone had it? My warm up only consists of 5 minutes of walking, should I be doing more?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2019 20:07

Eep, I've got an evening race coming up, I'd best get my insides used to evening running. I have to run two hours after breakfast which is limiting.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2019 20:29

I need some hot weather running gear. I went to Decathlon but they didn't have my size in. Where is good?

CarrotPuff · 24/05/2019 20:57

I don't really know, but I bought a loose sports T-shirt from new look a while ago and it has nice cool feeling fabric

emummy · 24/05/2019 21:34

I have a great vest from Ronhill, really loose & comfy, also quite long - at 6ft1 this is an issue! You can get stuff a bit cheaper on sportsshoes.com.
Carrot I never used to do much of a warm-up but now I do; I walk on my heels then toes, then do quads and hamstrings stretches, squats & lunges. I'm getting old mind you, so things creak if I don't warm up!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2019 21:59

I'll take. look thanks :) I'd like a vest top I think.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 24/05/2019 22:41

I like TK Max for run stuff. Got a lovely mesh type vest recently

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2019 22:44

Nice! Thanks :)
