W3R2 done. I'm not sure I ever really warmed up today - so cold! Well done to everyone that keeps plodding!

Completely forgot I joined this thread!!

W2 R2 done this morning although I did it on the treadmill as it's too icy here. It's easier on the treadmill but so boring!!

I did W2R1 on Monday and managed to get through it and don’t struggle as much as I thought I would.

Went out to do the 2nd run a while ago, but I fell over walking the dog this morning and landed in my leg. Warm up wa fine but as soon as I started running my leg hurt. Decided to abandon it for today, hoping it’s just bruised and will try again tomorrow.

I did w3 R1 this morning. Felt lovely being out in the snow, although very very cold. Loving the sense of achievement after each run. I usually run in the morning and it makes me feel really good all day. Hopefully I'll be able to keep it up, I glanced towards the week 5 schedule and just can't imagine being able to run for 20 minutes at all.
I've lost 6lbs since beginning the programme too, it definitely motivates me to eat a little better.

I did W3R2 this morning. Somehow in my half asleep state I managed to put on my casual New Balance trainers instead of my running trainers Angry

I didn't even realise until I started the first run and perhaps foolishly decided to continue. My knee is now unhappy.

Hello all! Total exercise novice here too. Just completed W4R3 and feeling so chuffed with myself! Did a bit of extra running in the walk bits too. Keep it up everyone!

Wk 3 r2 today. My legs felt very tight at the calves but I did it.

I'm secretly quite enjoying it even though the other people at the gym probably wonder why I keep walking then running then smiling to myself.

W3R3. Well I did it. I didn't enjoy it at all. Everything just niggled. Music too loud / too quiet, too hot / too cold etc etc And I made a mistake and went a different way which meant the last 3 minute run was all up a huge hill. Oh well, let's see what next week brings!
Well done to everyone who keeps on plodding!

I need to get my motivation on to get up of my arse and go out. I’ve got my running gear on but i’m sat on the sofa watching RHOBH Hmm. I’m planning to do W2R2 & R3 back to back but I’ve got a serious case of the cba’s.

Right trainers on, podcast downloaded, I’m going out. I’ll check in at the start of week 3. Hopefully that’s Monday.

Did W3R3 today.
The other 2 weeks it was the middle run I found harder but today I felt like I was just plodding. But I did it.
Can’t imagine how I’m going to run for 5 mins without stopping next week but I didn’t think I could do 3 so we’ll see.
Keep running everyone :)

Hi! Feeling inspired by everyone’s progress. I’ve had lurgy from hell all week, I had got up to w2r2 but after a week break, should I pick up where I left off or start again at w1r1?

Report
Piebeansandchips · 25/01/2019 22:28

@Canadeeio I'd try where you stopped. If you find it too tough just repeat until you make it.

Canadeeio · 25/01/2019 22:45

Oh thanks Pie that’s encouraging Smile

Piebeansandchips · 25/01/2019 22:57

@Canadeeio it's definitely a mind over matter program. You did it before the lurgy struck you can do do it after. Believe in yourself. If it takes you a couple of extra runs that's ok, you're still progressing. One foot in front of the other and you'll do it, especially when you think where you started - the couch!

iknowimcoming · 25/01/2019 23:15

Can I join please? Did w2r3 today and I'm finding it tough. I did it before probably 10 years ago or so and was fitter than I've ever been (before or since) so I'm persevering - well done everyone!

Report
timetomoveon · 26/01/2019 01:09

Canadeeio - I agree with Pie.
Do w2r2 again and you can always repeat it again if it doesn’t go so well. But w2r3 is the same so you’ll be able to give it another go anyway. Good luck!

@Canadeeio I'm in the same boat! Stupid lurgy. I'm gonna do a W2 run this weekend & see how I get on.

Glad to hear other people getting on well with it & enjoying it!

My calf feels tight and quite sore so I think I'm best doing wk3 r3 tomorrow instead of today, as planned.

I was quite looking forward to it but am
Concerned I might damage it.

Is it best to wait or just plough on?

I've just finished W3R3, it felt alot harder than R1 and R2. Plus I much prefer the cover of darkness when I go out at 6am on a weekday.

The 5 minute run in week 4 is concerning me.

Fiddie - are you stretching enough?

Report
Fiddie · 26/01/2019 10:11

I'm not stretching at all, are we supposed to?!

Report
FATEdestiny · 26/01/2019 10:46

Fiddle you won't damage your muscles doing the week 3 run, don't worry.

So do go out and enjoy your run. The muscles are aching just because they are getting used to being used. As you get fitter it will get easier.

Be sure you make your warm up walk really brisk, it's designed to make you feel physically warm as your muscles warm up.
