Hi, first time poster long time reader here. Just got in from completing day one of couch to 5k! So tired but i think maybe worth it, just wondering if anyone else has started and how their experience has been so far / any tipsSmile

Was an inside health radio prog this week about running injuries

Fiddie · 01/02/2019 20:48

@TitsalinaBumSquash I did that one yesterday and was very slow but lovely people on here said not to worry about that.

Did you drink enough water before? That might explain the headache.

I'm doing wk4 r3 tomorrow.

Piebeansandchips · 01/02/2019 23:50

W4R3 done. Weekend off and some red wine to be drunk. Well done to everyone that has completed runs this week.

Violetroselily · 02/02/2019 09:17

W5R1 done. Luckily there's been very little snow or ice here, so the pavements are fine.

Does anyone have problems with the Android app randomly stopping half way through a run? Luckily I'm quite good at keeping time in my head/using music so I get my phone out and look if I think however many minutes should have finished by now - lo and behold the app has done a force stop. This is the 3rd run out of the last 4 where it's happened Angry

Fiddie · 02/02/2019 11:58

I've noticed that I'm putting weight on! I've never exercised before and I'm eating the same food.

I was hoping to lose some stones.

Fiddie · 02/02/2019 15:57

Wk4 r3 done and it was hard. I thought being the third time I'd done it it would be easier.

Coldandfrosty · 03/02/2019 00:41

I did week 3 today, am meant to be w4r2 but repeated a week 3 to go easier on my knee. It's a bit sore now but not agony. Will keep up with my clam shells

vjg13 · 03/02/2019 12:53

Week 8 run 1 done. 28 minutes of running and I felt every one! Definitely my hardest session to date but at least I did it. Was sort of dreading it beforehand so that didn't help.

Coldandfrosty · 03/02/2019 13:30

@vjg13 wow that's amazing well done. I can't imagine getting that far!

I did w4r2 today. Repeating a week 3 yest was right thing to do as knee managed that ok. Been doing my clams @DonDrapersOldFashioned

Coldandfrosty · 03/02/2019 13:31

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00027ns

That's the link to the prog about running injuries. Not much mention of knee pain as I had hoped but might help someone else?

vjg13 · 03/02/2019 17:27

Thanks ColdandFrosty, it was the first run that I have really wanted to give up on, onward and upward and must keep faith in the programme!

Violetroselily · 03/02/2019 21:38

Well done @vjg13

I did W5R2 this evening, feel very proud at doing 2x 8 mins. I felt I could have kept going for longer on the first run too.

R3 is a 20 min run, which feels a bloody massive from 8 mins. Not sure which day this week I'll be trying to tackle that Hmm

Hope everyone has a good week

Coldandfrosty · 03/02/2019 22:47

Why does w5r3 have 20 min running but w6r2 is 10 then a break then 10 again?! Surely that's easier than 20 straight from an earlier week.

Piebeansandchips · 04/02/2019 09:05

W5R1 done! Really can't believe they expect me to run for 20 mins this week!! Mind over matter, one foot in front of the other I guess! In other news I have been googling and found this. Couch25k graduate...

c25k week one day one!
vjg13 · 04/02/2019 09:34

Ooh love the t shirt, will be very tempted if I can plod on to the end of week 9! I was worried about the 20 minute run but it was ok, then week 6 with 2x 10 minute runs felt like a dream!

timetomoveon · 04/02/2019 09:48

Did w5r1 this morning as well. It felt fine :)
Nervous about Wednesday and the 2 8 minute runs but I’m encouraged that you found it ok @violetroselily.
I love the T-shirt @piebeansandchips - I want one too.....if I can make it that far :)

TitsalinaBumSquash · 04/02/2019 10:02

@Fiddie - I have just done W4R3 and it was no easier than W4R1 was! I'm also putting on weight but that's due to running making me ravenous! I need eat more sensibly, I'm hoovering food up like there's no tomorrow at the moment!

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 04/02/2019 19:54

i have the long W5 run tomorrow, I shall be pacing it out very steadily ..I was well chuffed t get the two eight minute ones done, I feel invincible now, I shall be FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiNNNNNNEEEEee when it comes to running away from the zombies.

OnlineAlienator · 04/02/2019 19:59

Hi all i wondered if i could join in? Im not following a programme or anything but making a real effort to exercise. I've gone from no running whatsoever to doing a slow 20min run 2/3 times per week over the course of a month and was wondering if this was good or i should be pushing myself harder? It seems ok judging from your plans tho?

Coldandfrosty · 04/02/2019 21:05

Welcome online

Well done everyone

Fiddie · 05/02/2019 17:52

Wk5 r1 today. Was painful on my legs but I did it Smile

Violetroselily · 05/02/2019 18:35

Well done @Fiddie W5 feels like a big milestone.

I'm going to do W5R3 tonight...20 min run...Shock

Macs18 · 05/02/2019 19:26

I did week 5 run 1 this morning. I'm really getting into it this week and enjoying it! Feel like I have a bit more push at the end of the 5. Still dreading 20mins, but hoping if I do a flat enough route I'll manage it. Can't quite believe I've stuck at it this long!

dementedma · 05/02/2019 19:31

dreading the week 5 runs so am repeating week 4 for extra confidence. Missed a week due to icy conditions underfoot so makes sense to me to repeat week 4.

Fiddie · 05/02/2019 19:47

Good luck Violet
