Anyone up for a bit of half m support?

I'm registered to run my first half m in early September.

I'm struggling a bit with motivation tbh. I think I peaked too soon - could have done it 6 weeks ago. I've got time to get prepared though - it's 8 weeks away and I'm not starting from scratch. The most important thing for me is to keep up the strength work or my knees go kerboom.

Anyone else?

Hoping to beat my 1:55. Id be happy with a few seconds off but im not holding out!

How about you?

minesapintofwine · 09/09/2017 21:19

Wow thats an amazing time! I'm a slowee, hoping for 2 and a half would be chuffed if I break 2.15. I've been very slow in training but hoping for some race day magic!

My pb 5k and 10k times are respectable but any further and I can't keep it up. Maybe my next half lol.

Is the Cardiff half as flat as I'm led to believe? pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease

shortaris1 · 09/09/2017 21:26

Thanks all.

GNR people I wish it was me. Enjoy and cant wait to hear how you go.

minesapintofwine · 09/09/2017 21:31

Oh short sending you Wine

Blackandpurple · 09/09/2017 21:49

Carfiff is flat. Slight incline at 5kbut its nothing. Rhen a smaller one at 10 miles up Roath park. Remember to wave at the old folks on the right. Thye are out in their wheelchairs and love supporting! Then at 12 miles you have another small incline undervthe railway bridge. Totally fine! They are not hills. They are inclines.

Blackandpurple · 09/09/2017 21:50

Scuse the typos. In in the car!!

minesapintofwine · 09/09/2017 22:26

black thanks! I won't know myself running a flat course 👍

You must be disappointed ShortAris. I tried to train for a half about 4 years ago and had to pull out because my knee was so bad. I remember how gutted I was. But there's always another!

For sure! Hoping to do a mile later to see how I go.
Watching GNR on TV. Amazing!

wineusuallyhelps · 10/09/2017 15:48

Minesapintofwine I am hoping for 2.15 too, but will be happy with less than 2.30! I only like flat running...

Hope everyone doing the GNR will report back!

It's only one week to go for me. I should have done 6 miles today, but...prosecco happened last night Blush. Will have to do it tomorrow instead. Hope the HM gods won't punish me Confused

Hello!! On a very crowded Metro train! Finished in 2:22! It was flipping hard work and I had a minor meltdown at mile 11 but with about 1/2 mile fast walking I pulled myself together.
What an experience!

HRHPrincessMegan · 10/09/2017 17:47

Well done RMC123!

Fantastic time too. You must be very proud. I am so pleased for you - go have some 🍾!

mammymammyIRL · 10/09/2017 18:09

Wow well done RMC

I did 6 miles this morning & then a 5km colour dash with dh & dc which involved a lot of walking. Discovered dd has a great strike she'll run Smile

Sirzy · 10/09/2017 18:35

I did it! Slower than I wanted but I didn't care I was too busy enjoying the local hospitality - who can say no to pop ices and free beer!

minesapintofwine · 10/09/2017 18:45

Well done rmc and sirzy!

HRHPrincessMegan · 10/09/2017 18:48

I completed in about 2.27 we think as my chip did not work and according to the app I'm still running!

I too walked a bit at 12 miles just a minute or two but felt better for it, it went quite fast but it was so busy!

Awesome crowd as usual but glad it's over .

2012860363 · 10/09/2017 20:27

RMC123 · 10/09/2017 20:46
