Happy New Year, everyone. If you've got a New Year resolution to do more exercise and think crazy Jillian may be the answer, come and sign in here for moral support, chat and a chance to moan.

Ripped in 30 L1 D2 done. Still hate cardio, but it felt like a good start to the year.

Hello, can I join in...? I did Shred L1D1 last night and have realised how unfit I am. Excited about the next 30 days though!! Smile

InfinitySeven · 19/01/2015 13:00

I have decided that I can't really Shred with a bust wrist...I have to skip too much.

So I'm doing the Kickboxing workouts. I did 1 and 2 on alternating days last week, and I'm going to do 3 today, and add weight.

I'm unsure whether to aim to do more than one a day, as they are only 20 minutes? Ideally I want to tone up quite quickly...I look terrible like I am!

I was intending to do them before eating, too, but I got hungry and haven't had chance yet today, so I just had some toast. Rest of the week should be a bit easier.

CointreauVersial · 19/01/2015 13:10

Grrr....I got up at 6.45am to do 30DS Day 10, but the internet was down, so couldn't get onto YouTube. Angry So I went back to bed.

And my lovely new weights have arrived! So I've retired the cans of coconut milk.

ElphabaTheGreen · 19/01/2015 13:14

Jillian is the better web-chatter by far. Davina's just plugging her book in every answer Hmm

Sarahlouboo · 19/01/2015 13:51

I'll have to have a look at that, I love Davina in general but not her workout DVDs although I know some people swear by them.

Did Killer Abs level 1 yesterday although was rudely interrupted a couple of times by DC demanding snacks! It was not as tough a workout as some of the higher levels of ripped etc. but definitely used some ab muscles that I didn't know existed! And my shoulders are killing Shock.

Re the aching - it does improve (I couldn't sit bend my legs to get on the toilet when I first did shred, had to position myself and then drop from a height!) so keep going and don't worry if you have stopped aching, Jillian will find new ways to make you ache on the next level!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/01/2015 15:19

Infinity - yes, def need your wrists for shred - kickboxing sounds like a good alternative for you.

I started L3 today - I quite like most of it nowadays.

Jacksterbear · 19/01/2015 19:18

Hey did anyone else see the "Biggest Loser" revelations doing the rounds in FB? here. Probably old news and not that surprising really when you think about it, but I was naively a bit shocked.

Bimblepops · 19/01/2015 20:26

RI30, W2, D6 done earlier today. Felt strangely easy...which I'm going to put down to getting stronger and fitter, rather than anything sinister.

Going to watch (and maybe practise) W3 this evening - see what I've got to look forward to tomorrow!

InfinitySeven · 19/01/2015 20:27

Thanks Errol :)

Did the abs workout today. It was quite busy with actual work, so didn't get chance to do another, and I'm too lazy now. Feeling very chubby tonight, though!

Tomorrow I'll try and do two.

ElphabaTheGreen · 19/01/2015 20:35

Yeah, I saw that Jacksterbear. Can't say I was surprised. I've always thought it was dodgy as hell. Is Jillian still doing it or has she left for good? I only dipped into the odd episode on a sick day or something, felt uncomfortable about what the contestants were being made to do, wished I had Jillian's arms then went and ate some crisps Grin

ethelb · 19/01/2015 21:13

Wibbly same here. I did l1d7 here and I've got a bit used to it. I'm going to do all 10 days of l1 though as I am scared!

Jacksterbear · 19/01/2015 21:43

Elphaba it looked as though she had left, over concerns about the treatment of participants, but she was there a long time!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 19/01/2015 22:15

Bit late with the New Year resolutions but hey ho. L1D1 done! Shred, that is. I have done it before but never got further than about day 12. Once I started on Level 2 because I know L1 by heart, just so I could reach L3. So I did one day of L3 and stopped. Blush This time I have roped DH in. Hoping he'll make me stick with it.

I am 6 months post-partum and need to fit back into my work clothes before the end of March. I'm doing 5:2 as well and trying not to eat like a pig on off-days. I reckon if I can take an inch off my waist and mummy tummy area i'll be mostly there. I know this works, I just have to stick with it!

ErrolTheDragon · 19/01/2015 22:22

Cheddar, well you're a month early for Chinese New Year. Grin You can stick to it - checking in here really can help. Combining shred and 5:2 I bet you'll take that inch off (and then some). Smile

wibblyjelly · 20/01/2015 06:28

It's ok, back to feeling sore today Grin

ImogenQuy · 20/01/2015 07:05

Yoga Meltdown L2 D9 done. So much nicer than Ripped. Though it's a bit weird -most of it I can do with no problem at all, although not as flexibly and elegantly as the woman doing the difficult version, and then there are two poses that I haven't a hope of ever being able to do, thrown in slightly randomly!

Sarahlouboo, I really liked Killer Abs, though Level 3 has some insane moves in it - one-armed, one-legged plank, for instance. Even though it hurts it seems to be over quicker than some of her other DVDs (yes, I do mean sodding RI30, which seems interminable).

Jackster and Elphaba, I've never seen Biggest Loser, but as I recall she keeps leaving and coming back - this must be about the third time. Presumably the producers keep luring her back with more money or promises that things will change.

Welcome Tango and Cheddar, and good luck with your respective goals. Tango, we were on the August and September threads together, I think.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2015 09:50

That's interesting, imogen - I hadn't thought of doing Yoga meltdown but it might make a nice change. What's the format/how long please?

ElphabaTheGreen · 20/01/2015 10:33

30DS L3D4 done.

My anterior delts are in rebellion for denying their existence on this thread. Owie!

InfinitySeven · 20/01/2015 10:36

Cheddar I'm doing intermittent fasting too. Every other day, because I find that a bit easier than 5:2! I was doing excellently before Christmas, I need to hold myself to it a bit better again now.

About to do kickboxing again. Did abs yesterday, which is definitely my trouble area, so I'm thinking about doing that again. Ideally I'll do another one too, but whether I'll have the time or motivation remains to be seen...

Waiting for a delivery which I just know will come whenever I start, too.

Imogen I'd like to know more about Yoga Meltdown too. I'm guessing it wouldn't be doable with a bust wrist, though!

ElphabaTheGreen · 20/01/2015 12:05

Can't remember if you've said Infinity - have you tried modifying some of the plank moves onto your elbows? Modified/low impact plank jacks can be done on your elbows; mountain climbers could be done on your elbows, substituting reverse leg-raises for the toe-taps etc.

ScienceRocks · 20/01/2015 12:18

Hello, may I join you all? I've just started level 2 of the Shred, having done six days of level 1 over the last week or so.

I've shredded before, but like many people dip in and out of it. I did the Couch to 5k in autumn, and was running 5k three times a week (or doing a workout DVD) before Christmas. I didn't put any weight on over the festive season, but would like to lose a bit more (I'm currently 10st 10lb at 5ft 4in, having lost just over half a stone over the last six months, and have also started 5:2ing) and maintain my fitness and get a bit stronger.

ShyGirlie · 20/01/2015 17:48

cries level 2 day 1.... ouch. pain. DESPAIR!!

toooooo much planking!!

i have had a mega sore shin for a few days, any ideas? (feel like such a crybaby!)

blodynmawr · 20/01/2015 18:27

L2 D2.
Felt strangely easier today compared to D1 Hmm!
Thanks for the other Jillian DVD recs Imogen.

May give them a go when I get to Shred L3 standard as I don't really like the Shred L3 that much. Last time I did a lot of NMTZ at that stage but was getting bored so may give the Yoga a go to maintain variety. Smile
Anyone going to see Jillian on her current tour? I couldn't stretch to it due to post Christmas lack of funds. Would be good to get feedback!

ethelb · 20/01/2015 18:32

30DS L1D8 here.

I finally managed to do most of the press-ups the proper way last night, and I am IN PAIN today. Seriously, even the shaking your arms out bit in the warm up killed me.

Though if there is lots of planking in the next levels perhaps I need to get my arms strong enough!

What handweights are people using. I'm using some cheapy 1kg each handweights I got in Lidl but don't really think they are heavy enough. Should I get some 2kg or skip straight to 3kg? Or is that asking for a whole new world of pain>

Sarahlouboo · 20/01/2015 19:02

Hey everyone, day off today but someone was asking about the live shows - I am going to Sheffield on Saturday so I will report back. The cost was Shock and then it was on bloody groupon a couple of days after I had bought tickets - rah! But it is my birthday soon so I thought sod it.

Did T25 yesterday - back to Killer Abs tomorrow - One armed, one legged planks ShockShockShock! Might skip that!
