I thought I had better start one seeing as no one else has.
Please add your updates, whether it is a New Year's Resolution to get fit or you have been here for the long haul!

I have just had two days off due to my lower abs being hugely painful, thing I must have pulled something the other day.
Hopefully back on it after the child goes to sleep.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and you are all eager to go again when the kids are back at school. My poor DS1 starts back today!

L2D1 done. I actually quite like most of l2 except for the first static squat and row. Then did 3x1min forearm planks, 3x12 inclined press-ups (sofa arm, 60cm from floor down from 75cm last week - I'm slowly getting there!) then 3x1min extended arm planks.

Will, I do planks on a mat, but for the plain extended arm ones also I'm using a pair of hex dumbells as 'handles' - positioned at an angle that puts the hands in a natural position. That takes some strain off the wrists. I can't remember exactly what the plank moves are in Ri30, might that work for any of them? I seem to remember on one level there were a couple of wrist-straining moves in the same circuit so I swapped them around with something else

L3D4 done.
Didn't do yesterday as DS2 was being sick most of the day.

Hi errol If I'm finding I can do the press-ups from my knees more easily but not the full things, are the inclined press-ups a sort of intermediate thing to try?

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2014 14:05

intheround - yes, I can do the knee press-ups ok but just can't dip down far if I try them straight-legged. Inclined push-ups are where you keep your legs straight but have your hands at a higher level - initially this can be against the wall but then move lower. I started using the kitchen worksurface, then a table, now the sofa arm - so hopefully eventually I'll hit the deck!

intheround · 20/01/2014 14:10

Ok- will try that tomorrow- thanks.

WillColbert · 20/01/2014 15:31

Thanks Errol - really appreciate your advice. I will give that a try tomorrow.

Mumtoh · 20/01/2014 16:10

Back on it today after 10 days off with a cold (pathetic I know...)

Was on L2D2 but have gone back to L1 to ease myself back in. I also did 10 mins of a 'Blast belly fat' DVD but I don't think I'll bother with that again, just do the shred. However that is my problem area, really need to whittle a bit more of a waist.

Oh and I've bought Ripped in 30 as many of you seem to like it, but that's for after the shred...

DayAfterYesterday · 20/01/2014 16:35

I had the weekend off was really busy back on it today day 6, did level 2 and fit in 15 cardio

I now want Chinese food someone make me stop!

PeppermintCream · 20/01/2014 20:10

L2D10 Done - starting to find it a little easier. Absolutely dreading starting L3 tomorrow. I think might watch it tonight, so that I can get my head around the moves.

Logg1e · 20/01/2014 20:54

Hello thread, I'm a Shred noob doing this for the first time with my (fitter) partner. I'm hoping to get fitter and fend off the next dress size up.

Could I ask how you all do the days? Do you do 30 days straight or something else?

PeppermintCream · 20/01/2014 21:19

Welcome Logg1e I think most people are taking rest days or doing a mixture of exercises. I've not counted rest days as part of my 30 days, but some people have. Do what feels right for you.

Logg1e · 20/01/2014 21:29

Ok, thanks Peppermint. I don't think we've decided what to do yet. We did L1D2 tonight - did I say that right?

What can I expect from my first shred in terms of seeing a difference?

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2014 21:50

Yes, def take at least one or two rest days a week. I always take the weekends off, and do 10 days per level so the whole thing takes 6 weeks. But you can spend as long or as short on each level as suits you. You don't need to be doing everything perfect 'natalie' style before moving on.

Peppermint - yes, good idea to scan through it to see how the moves go.

Lindt70Percent · 20/01/2014 22:15

Ok, I had the weekend off but have done L1D9 today. Terrified at the thought of L2 as am really in my comfort zone with L1 now. Still can't do those side raise things with weights and don't think I'll ever be able to. Am sticking with Anita style press ups and don't care!

I feel so much fitter and I'm looking quite slender - can really see the difference. I'd quite like to lose a stone but don't think it's really necessary as I think I'm just thinking of the weight I was about 11 years ago and I'm not sure it would suit me to be that thin now. So I'll carry on watching what I'm eating and will carry on shredding and see where I end up. I've found that logging what I eat in myfitnesspal has stopped me eating so much junk. Also, the fitbit that H got me for Christmas is motivating me to move more.

This thread is helping me. Hope it's helping everyone else.

Lindt70Percent · 20/01/2014 22:18

Hi Logg1e. I've taken rest days but haven't counted them in my 30. How are you feeling after L1D2? I was really aching for the first 3 or 4 days but since then I've felt great.

Lindt70Percent · 20/01/2014 22:19

Good luck with L3 tomorrow PeppermintCream! I've thought of scanning through L2 before I start but am worried I'll put myself off.

tanukiton · 21/01/2014 01:36

D15 l3 d7 upped my weights a teeny tiny bit.
PeppermintCream good luck for 3
I have to get into my suits for April! or pay a fortune in international postage.

spinningirl10 · 21/01/2014 07:21

D9 L2 d3 doneGrin

It was really hard to get myself up this morning after 3 days off!!

I'm using 2kg and 4kg, I still hate the V squats most!!

spinningirl10 · 21/01/2014 07:40

Lindt I'm using myfitnesspal as well, I really like it.

SallyFinkelstein · 21/01/2014 08:37

So Saturdays rest day turned into three rest days. Blush I finally did L1D10 this morning though and it was great, I'm still no Natalie but I could chat to DS1 all the way through and didn't need to rest after (although I am having a sneaky 5mins mumsnet before getting me and the DS's showered and dressed).

Going to try to watch L2 while they nap after lunch, probably with a Brew and a book, so there (hopefully) will be no excuse for me doing it tomorrow.

Logg1e · 21/01/2014 08:51

I'm feeling it in my calves Lindt definitely, my partner is feeling it in his shoulders. I did "phone in" the press-ups though, they're never going to happen.

Somebody used the word "slender" just now (sorry, can't see username) and that's really inspiring. At the moment, my belly is doing each exercise about one second behind the rest of my body.

WillColbert · 21/01/2014 09:15

L2D2 of Ri30 done. I'm getting there!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/01/2014 09:18

L2D2, plus 3x15sec side planks per side - I find those really hard and then 3x14 inclined press-ups.

msmoss · 21/01/2014 12:53

Finally managed D16 L2 feeling a little bit pleased with myself for coming back to it after a 4 day break, less pleased about the 6 Jaffa cakes I just scoffed! If I get a chance to watch it tonight I'll start L3 tomorrow.

Logg1e · 21/01/2014 13:07

Just coughed. It killed.
