For me, just starting? Anyone else?

Checking in too, but still not enjoying it. The rain flooding all the streets didn't help. When am I going to get these endorphins I keep hearing about? (See the impatience Grin)

Celia - my dh doesn't seem to get them either! I seriously doubt he'd still be doing it if we weren't ALL doing it (if you know what I mean). He's finding it much easier now we're 11 days in however (we're doing it every day). My youngest DS (like me) gets a MASSIVE rush... he calls them his 'dolphins' ("my dolphins are jumping all over the place mummy!")

I reckon they'll kick in around the 3K mark...

funchum8am · 09/01/2014 21:18

Hi everyone, I am so impressed by everyone's perseverance! I did w1 r3 yesterday and am enjoying it still...had a tough day at work and actually looked forward to a run to pound out some frustration! I also went to cricket practice on Tues and instead of our usual skills practice they had us doing CIRCUITS!! So I am feeling very virtuous but also extremely achy.

Starting W2 this weekend.

I use the get running app and mapmyrun to track how far I go - because I listen to audiobooks I sometimes have both apps and the book talking at me at once so I need to work out how to switch the voice on mapmyrun off.

dizzyday07 · 10/01/2014 07:32

DD and I did W1R2 last night but it was late on and we had eaten so it seemed in some ways tougher than run 1!

I dont know whether i should just stay on week 1 until i am a bit fitter as i can only just last for 1 minute!

deXavia · 10/01/2014 07:49

so glad to have found this thread - I started this week after not doing exercise ohh.... probably since school. So I'm trying to see it as "me time" and the exercise as secondary

Anyway did wk1 D1, wk 1 D2 and wk 1 D3 (twice as I didn't want to get my weeks muddled Blush )
I also use the free app, really need the music and the prompts.

Chicksy · 11/01/2014 00:37

That's w1 over. I am really surprised at myself as I never thought I could do it. I am determined now to do this.

knitknack · 11/01/2014 08:36

Did run one of week 4 last night with DH - neither of us could believe it! We walked home in amazement :))

tinypumpkin · 12/01/2014 11:52

I have no dolphins yet either :) I did W2R2 on Friday. Debating whether to do W2R3 tonight or tomorrow. I am enjoying it in terms of a sense of achievement but found the last run harder than the previous one.

That gives me hope knitknack, week four scared me when I looked at it!

soontobeslendergirl · 12/01/2014 19:13

W1R3 completed on Friday evening and W2R1 done tonight - also been for a big walk this afternoon with the family - I've earned so many extra calories today on Myfitnesspal that I've just had fish and chips for dinner and still have 900 in the bank!!

Well done everybody!!

knitknack · 12/01/2014 21:06

It was just the dog and I this morning - it was very strange, but also gave me a glimpse of the calming nature that running can have. Sometimes my 'running' is almost slower than my 'walk', is that OK?!

CeliaLytton · 12/01/2014 21:13

Can't believe everyone's keeping at it! Shouldn't judge by my own past failures I guess...

W3r1 done today after doing w2r3 yesterday, decided not to take a rest day as more likely to actually do the longer run if I could do it in the daylight! Managed ok but still no dolphins Grin

Knit my run often seems slower than my walk! So I'm wondering if I am actually achieving anything at all...

Welcome newcomers, we are going to need all the support we can get over the next few weeks, especially if any of us get snow!

OP posts:
soontobeslendergirl · 12/01/2014 21:20

Celia - I did it all through the snow and ice last year and stopped in the summer!! Just got back before the snow started tonight but it's turned to rain again now.

I cover just under 3 miles in my 30 minutes, just over 5 miles an hour - that includes the warm up and cool down if that gives you an idea of speed knitknack - I've still got about 2 stone to lose, though I will be into "normal" bmi in about 8lbs time :o

CeliaLytton · 12/01/2014 21:39

I wouldn't go out on the ice, nothing is gritted round here and I would definitely do myself an injury. Hoping it holds off for a couple of weeks until I am doing some proper running!

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/01/2014 09:53

I'm about to head out for my first run (with dog)
Put on my new bra and trainers and everything feels odd. The bra band feels tight now, it didn't before, and I can't move my shoulders forwards to reach forward or down without it cutting in at the front.
The heels of the trainers feel weird.
I'm hoping it's all just odd because it's new stuff and I'm not going to get pissed off with it because I spent all the money I had on it so no replacements
Right am off, wish me and anyone in my vicinity luck Grin

CeliaLytton · 13/01/2014 10:13

Good luck Jayne! By the time you read this it'll all be over Grin

OP posts:
TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/01/2014 10:56

Well I'm back and it didn't kill me. Chest got a little tight on the last run but the second half was uphill. Bra felt fine, left shoe was fine, right felt a bit loose and sloppy on the heel and as that's my dodgy ankle I was a bit worried but I made it.
Can you get running insoles? I can't change size because they wouldn't fit anywhere else.
It was nice to be out in the sun with the stone roses playing Smile

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 13/01/2014 10:56

Thank you btw Grin

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 13/01/2014 11:30

I started today too.....so w1r1. I made it back in one piece! Am not very fast, but it's still running, right?

What a lovely morning for a run, even if I did have to run in the road as the pavements were sheet ice. We are getting a puppy in 7 weeks time, so planning to run with pup as soon as he's able to do it. Grin

tinypumpkin · 13/01/2014 11:39

W2R3 last night. I am scared by week four! Everyone is doing so well, we can do it. This thread is really helping me so thank you ladies (and gents?)

Am thinking of asking for some proper trainers for my birthday, mine are beyond ancient. I am too ashamed to say how old!

tinypumpkin · 13/01/2014 11:40

Well done Eddie and Jayne on getting started. I found actually getting out the door for the first time so hard!

hotdog74 · 13/01/2014 12:12

Can I join? I was writing on another thread but this one seems much busier!

Week 1 run 3 for me today. Legs hurt a lot less than the first two runs but I am VERY slow - but I will do my first ever Park run 5k on March 15th so I have to keep going :-)

But I have to run non stop for 90 seconds on Weds - that sounds scary..............

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 13/01/2014 14:07

tinypumpkin....i burst out my front door, all full of enthusiasm, and right into a crowd of super sophisticated school gate mums. I looked a right tit in my running gear (which is actually cycling gear but serves the same purpose ha ha).

My legs feel a bit achy now, think I may be sore tomorrow.

tinypumpkin · 13/01/2014 14:11

Hello hotdog :) I think running for 90 secs sounds worse than it is . I guess it is all relative as I am worried about running for three mins! We will get there.

Eddie, that is what I am scared of doing too in terms of running into people I know. We live opposite DD's preschool so would avoid pick up/drop off times! Have only been out at night for logistical reasons though at the moment.

MarianneEnjolras · 14/01/2014 20:13

Mind if I join in? I was on the other thread but this one is much busier.

Week 2 run 2 done today. Still can't imagine I'll ever be able to run for longer than a minute in one go!

caffeinated · 14/01/2014 20:15

Hi all can I join in? I started c25k in September and twisted my knee which had me hobbling around for 2 weeks. I was really enjoying it too but my knee was so painful I didn't want to risk hurting it again. I was running solely on grass before but I went out this morning and did week 1 run 1. The runkeeper app told me I beat my speed from previously so that was a mini accomplishment. Still very slow though. Doing week 1 run 2 on Thursday.
