Anyone else starting in the new year and want to join me on a thread?

(Unless there's a thread I've missed)

I'm about to go out for week 2 run 2, my stamina is already better however I'm 97% sure I've got shin splints, bloody painful but i'm loathed to stop as I think i'm making progress Angry

Week 1 run 3 done. Had to hobble the last 5 minutes as I got cramp in both calves though!

Wel done everyone! i did my first run last night. I am trying to get back into running after a break so didn't follow a plan, but just put some music on and headed off down the road. Not very fast though! Still, all a step in the right direction Smile this is the start of a more general clean-up after xmas, so i hope the feeling of bits of blubber bouncing up and down will help me eat less too Grin

How is everyone doing today?

I did w2 r1 earlier and was really pleased with how well it went. I have absolutely loved getting into running again.

But I am nervous about keeping it up when I go back to work next week (I've been on leave since Christmas). So I'm relying on this thread to keep me motivated Smile

Lots of people asking about which podcasts to use. I have the NHS one but hated the music so now I use Zen Labs c25k for pink. You can play ur own music and the voice just cuts in to tell you when to run/walk/cooldown. its also supposed to raise money for cancer research but no idea how as I downloaded it for free Confused

oh and I have a zip pocket in my running jacket which I keep my giant phone in

Anyone got really sore knees?? Obviously the 3 stone I want to shake doesn't help that problem but it was hard going today. Do I just keep going? The rest day doesn't seem to be enough time to recover and any sideways knee movement hurts.
I've done a run every second day, so should be on week three but am doing week two again as I didn't feel ready to take it up another notch.

I'm never going to find this 'fun'.

W2 r3 done today. I was astonished how much I've progressed since w1 d1! The hardest part is fitting it into the day, but once I'm out I love it. I even did an extra run at the end today just because I felt like it (I know that sounds gratuitously smug, but it's just such a transformation from 2 weeks ago)

DD comes out with me on her bike on a weekend and we both have a laugh the whole time. Just hope I keep this going, as sticking with any regime always seems to be my weakness...

I'm off to a slow start. I pulled a muscle in my back so I only started tonight. W1r1 done, it was fine. Out again on Tuesday. i definitely need to go bra shopping this week. I got some 'larger' sized running tops in the sports direct sale but I resisted on the leggings as I am determined to get into my own leggings in a few weeks.

I'm also thinking about taking the 30 day shred out if its cover. I think I bought it 3 years ago. Just thinking about it for now....

DD and I did W2R1 this evening. She was more of a hindrance than a help at times as a) she got a stitch and b) she fell over and knocked her knee. I am also sure at one point that we were running a 2min walking section! I think I might suggest she rides her bike occasionally as she will still be getting some exercise.

I got a fluorescent long sleeve running top from Decathlon (which fits but is snug at present) but felt really self conscious and obvious. We altered our normal route as otherwise we would have had to run past 2 teenage boys and I really didn't feel comfortable with them being able to see me stumble along the path!

Finlaggan · 22/01/2014 06:30

w1r2 done last night. It was wet & freezing but it's done.
out again tomorrow all going well.

Finlaggan · 26/01/2014 22:33

W2r1 complete tonight.
How is everyone doing?
