Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Hi all.

I did 28:41 today. I could feel I wasn't as fit as I was a few months ago, but I will get there again. I just dont want to lose it now Ive built up to running. I remember my first ever run. I had downloaded the C25K podcast and wanted to come home after the first 5 runs of 1 min each, now Im running 5K in under 30 mins and 10K's non-stop.

450 at one Parkrun Shock we've never got above 200, I think 170 something is the record. Though its less than a year old my Parkrun.

Was a lovely morning (and the rest of the day actually) here, perfect conditions for running. Im taking DS next week. Last time I took him (June) we were last and he did it in 44 mins.

Iggity - I think all you have to do to qualify for the monthly prize is to turn up every sat during one calendar month and get a couple of PB's. I didn't think Id have a chance as I know I can't make every sat, but I realised that I could in June so I challenged myself to get 3 PBs (there were 5 sats in June) and I got 4. It was hard work and it put me off running a bit, but now Im back even though I didn't enjoy it that much today

IsThatTrue · 14/09/2013 14:14

Well done everyone, sorry to not name check, ds2 is being a pain today.

Sounds like some great times today, well ds1 got 37.20 and I got 37.21. I let him finish first for a boost, he keeps saying ' I beat you by 1 second mummy' :) very sweet.

Running stuff is in the wash and fingers crossed it dries by the morning.

Oh quick question about socks? I use hilly, twin skin socklets but my first pair only last 150 miles before the toes wore through. Any sick recommendations? Preferably twin skin ones.

Well done everyone, and luke with a under 30 on 1sr go! Wow Smile
I got my time 30:58, which I am bizarrely happy about as I really didn't want to even run, felt awful first 10 minutes so was pleased to finish without having to stop for a breather.
What a different week to last week when I was distraught at not having got my first sub 30 Confused Grin

thenightsky · 14/09/2013 17:03

IsThatTrue I found some lovely socks in Lidl or Aldi ages ago (cannot remember which). They were only £1 a pair and are shaped so you have a left and right one. I find these are the only ones that don't rub my arches. They are lasting well too, with no sign of wearing through at the toes like my expensive £5 a pair ones from the proper running shop. Just wish I'd bought a whole load of them when I had the chance coz I've never seen them since.

wem · 14/09/2013 18:01

Well done everyone. Good to read about all your runs even though I didn't get to go. BakingNovice your post is inspirational! I hope I can get to that point :)

I'm going to my local running club on Tuesday. I spoke to a couple of them last week at the parkrun, they were very friendly and said they'd have a group working at my kind of pace :)

Blatherskite · 14/09/2013 18:21

I've got Aldi running socks too nightsky. I love them and also wish I'd bought more at the time.

After my week of PB's and firsts and then doing the 30 day shred yesterday, my legs felt stiff and sore today so I wasn't expecting much but as everyone seemed to be expecting another PB and as I was running without friends for once, I thought I'd push it and see what I could do...

I came in at 26:19 according to my watch which is 11 seconds off my PB! I was secretly hoping for sub 26 but that'll do for his week after all my poor legs have been though.

Considering another 2 hour (ie probably 12-13 mile) run tomorrow! Shock

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/09/2013 19:03

Too cute IsThat!

Well done Blathers! Think of me tomorrow - I'm doing 22, my furthest ever Shock

Luke - brilliant result! I am older than you, broke 30 mins for the first time earlier this year and have got down to 28.40. I've lost about a stone over the course of the year - I've been training for a marathon so running lots, and have really cut down on my white wine intake. I didn't set out to lose the weight, although I feel better without it. I think you can get your time as low as you'd like - there are runners who are a lot older than I am who are faster than me.

wem - enjoy your running group this week

Lileth - well done on your time.

I finished in 30:02, which is one of my slowest. There's always next week...

Blatherskite · 14/09/2013 19:06

Good luck OhOne. I can't imagine 22 miles just yet! I'm just nervous because last weeks 13 miles was the first time I'd ever gone that far and a jump of 4 miles over my previous longest. Doing it 2 weekends running feels like pushing my luck a little.

Knackerelli · 14/09/2013 19:48

Wow, some really impressive stories and times! ( and super cute mini park runners! ) My DD can't wait to run with me but at 5 yrs old she's too young to cope with the course but far too old to push in a buggy. You try telling her though......!

Got my time; 29:45. Am happy with that as made it sub 30 for two weeks Grin

woundbobbin · 14/09/2013 20:04

Well done everyone I would love to name check but by the time I've read all the messages I can't remember who said what - only that wem is going to a running club and don't want to look like a weirdy stalker by just mentioning her.
Anyway we did 28.57 this week which I'm pleased with will probably take me longer to wash all the mud off the pram.
Happy weeks running to everyoneGrin

pennygallops · 14/09/2013 20:26

Hi can I join. I love park run. My DS (10) and I did our 27th run this morning. My time was 28mins8secs, a minute over my PB but it was good. DD (9) sometimes joins us. It's just a great atmosphere.

wem · 14/09/2013 20:49

woundbobbin Grin Not weirdy stalker-y, just a little odd that you'd remember my comment over anyone else's, given it was probably the least interesting post of the morning by far Wink

Does anyone else have a parkrun photographer? The same guy has been at both of the ones I've done so far and the pics go up on facebook. There's one of me mid-sprint. It's very fetching.

IsThatTrue · 14/09/2013 21:32

wem we get photos too, my mid sprint is not fetching, but it's good to see the effort I'm putting in.

wound that's an amazing time with the pram well done!

ohone enjoy ?! your run tomorrow!

I'm just tucking myself into bed ready for my 10k in the morning! My first race! Eeek

IsThatTrue · 14/09/2013 21:33

Oh and welcome penny

OP posts:
pennygallops · 14/09/2013 22:22

There is often someone taking photos at my local park run, in fact I've been asked to take on the role when I've volunteered.

Good luck tomorrow isthattrue

Standingonlego · 15/09/2013 07:31

Good luck for today IsThatTrue weather cold and bright here, much nicer than yesterday. Hope 'tis the same for you - enjoy your race :)

wem · 15/09/2013 08:16

IsThat :) when I said said fetching I meant not at all attractive in the slightest Grin. You can see the effort though, even more so in the next picture where I'm in the background leaning over the railings trying not to be sick!

Good luck in your race :)

Wonder77 · 15/09/2013 08:21

Hello. I've been park running for about a year but have paused due to early pregnancy - hope to carry on soon! Park run is a great event. Very important community feel in this day and age.

Blatherskite · 15/09/2013 08:49

It's cold and bright here too. Lovely weather for running - so it's a pity DH has gone into work and I can't go :(

Could be worse - apparently it's raining for the Great North Run this morning :(

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/09/2013 11:01

Hope your 10K goes well IsThat.

Lizzylou · 15/09/2013 11:07

Good luck isthat Smile
Hope the weather is better for you than it is here.

Have done intervals on treadmill at the gym, I can move quite fast for a big lass when I put my mind to it. Not for very long though Grin

IsThatTrue · 15/09/2013 13:06

Thanks everyone! I finished in 1hr 3mins ish. I wanted under an hour but as I'd last fed ds2 at 6am my boobs started leaking halfway round and it was just too uncomfortable to run with that pulling let down feeling. But I finish and it was still a PB. Am now home, in the bath eating melon and Parma ham salad.

Chilled afternoon I think!

OP posts:
woundbobbin · 15/09/2013 13:21

Well done isthat great time especially given the circumstances.
You would be easy under an hour if your boobs had behaved themselves.
Enjoy a lazy afternoon Grin

KristinaM · 15/09/2013 13:44

Well done is that true

IsThatTrue · 15/09/2013 14:12

1:02.47 exact timing. I'm very pleased with myself, especially as boobs misbehaved and I'm still at least 1 stone overweight!

Contemplating another 10k in October! Must be mad!
