Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Grin blathers at your lovely feet

Standing - sorry to hear you are still off

Some great running this week Grin here's to some PBs tomorrow!

IsThatTrue · 13/09/2013 21:13

Welcome back standing sorry to hear your backs still bad. I hope it gets better soon. I know how grumpy I get when I can't run!

No pb for me tomorrow as DS1 (6yo) is coming, but I'm saving my best for the 10k race on Sunday! Eeek

(I have just realised I will need to get my running gear washed and dried in 20 hrs gulp)

I've gotten to an age where I take my compliments where I can find them Grin

Blatherskite · 13/09/2013 21:24

Sorry to hear that you're still struggling standing. Hope your back is better soon

Standingonlego · 13/09/2013 21:55

Thank you lovely people [smile\

Iggity · 13/09/2013 22:13

Bucketing down in west London at moment so will be a refreshing run in the morning.
10 mile race on Sunday and then 2 weeks to half marathon. Please stop rain.

thenightsky · 13/09/2013 22:39

Looking like me and DS will get our first rainy parkrun tomorrow.

Anyone on here doing Scunthorpe?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/09/2013 22:41

Pouring here too Iggity.

IsThat - I'm just waiting for the washer to finish as it has just about every piece of running clothing I own in it. I have warned DH that I might need to borrow his running gear for tomorrow Grin.

Speaking of compliments, someone I met today told me I didn't look old enough to have a DS as old as my DS1 (16). That's the first time anyone has ever said that to me Smile.

IsThatTrue · 13/09/2013 23:00

thenightsky nope I'm Surrey (Banstead woods/Nonsuch if anyone else is nearby) but its pouring here too. Poor DS will have a wet introduction to parkrun!

I'm a Parkrunner too. Not seen this thread before now so sorry I'm late.

I did my third volunteering role last week (was supposed to do a 10K on sun but didn't due to family reasons), but running this week.

My PB is 25:48. I don't try to get a PB anymore as I just wasn't enjoying it so now I just go for a run and some exercise. I tried for 4 PBs in June as I wanted the free running shoes (which I won), do other Parkruns have the monthly prize?

I'm in the North East if anyone else is close

wem · 14/09/2013 07:23

No rain here (Leeds), but no parkrun for me unfortunately. Dh has been away and is due back this morning. Probably will walk through the door about 10 mins after I would have had to leave. I'll hopefully get out later though.

omletta · 14/09/2013 07:26

Rain here (Cambridgeshire) so not a day for PBs, should be a nice refreshing run though.

IsThatTrue · 14/09/2013 07:36

Welcome lilleth you know as parkrunners we welcome all newcomers :)

Enjoy the rainy run everyone!

Reasonably bright here (Bedfordshire). Debating whether to ride my bike or take the car. Parking is a struggle, but I'm trying to decide whether the weather will have put people off, and it will be less crowded, or whether more people than usual will drive. Or whether people from another PR nearby, which apparently gets very flooded in wet weather will have diverted to my PR.

Welcome Lileth. Sorry you're not parkrunning wem. Have fun omletta.

IsThatTrue · 14/09/2013 10:25

DS did really well. He was around 37 minutes but considering he's only 6 and has never really run before I'm very very proud!

Lovely crisp, cool day in Lancashire.
Unfortunately I overindulged at the all you can eat buffet yesterday evening, food mainly but had a few glasses of wine. Feeling bit Envy
Probably not my fastest but enjoyed it after the first 10 minutes of thinking I was going to vomit Blush
Have put some more tunes on my mp3 as well so am going to try and reignite the running love and put more practice in.
Hope everyone had good runs (Lilleth, you are fast!).

Lizzylou · 14/09/2013 10:31

Isthat, that is fab! Well done your ds Smile
There was a man getting park runner of the month who was 80 today. Another reason I felt inspired to try and get better.

woundbobbin · 14/09/2013 10:31

Well done to mini is that 37mins very impressive!
We had a muddy run today the pram coped well but the hills were tough felt quite good but not sure if it'll be a pb
Well done to everyone who ranGrin

Iggity · 14/09/2013 11:08

Well rain has stopped and it was a lovely run. My garmin says 29:44 so really pleased that I am back under 30 mins again. I used a woman who overtook me right at the end a few weeks back (that I am still annoyed about as she pretty much flew past me in the last meter) as a pacer but then she slowed down just after 4k so overtook her. She did keep me pushing myself the whole way and think I am going to try and do this more with different people as it helped me a lot.

Well done to your DS isthat. My DS is 4 and I am hoping he might like to take part in one of the junior parkruns as he likes running.

Funny moment of today was a man running in what looked like flipflops. He passed me in an case:)

Well done everyone. It is a great start to the weekend.

Iggity · 14/09/2013 11:10

Welcome lillith. I wasn't sure how you qualified for the monthly prize. Do you have to get 4 PBs in a row? Your time is great!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/09/2013 11:21

Well done mini IsThat! What a boy!

Grin Lizzy - that was me a couple of weeks ago.

Well done on your muddy run wound!

Hoorah Iggity on your sub-30 mins!

My garmin said 30:00 when I switched it off. My legs felt like lead today, despite an abstemious night last night. I blame it on staying up late with the laundry Grin.

Bakingnovice · 14/09/2013 11:25

Is that well done to your ds. My ds is v fast too and waits for me at the end. Today was amazing. Before I went I was wondering when I would actually not struggle through the whole run. Today was that day. It was crisp and clear and I only walked the hill part on each lap. I felt like I had a good rhythm and sprinted the last bit. Felt and continue to feel amazing and lucky to be alive. Does park run make anyone else emotional?

Can't wait for my time today. Good luck everyone. Love spending Saturdays reading everyone's run experience and times on this thread.

thenightsky · 14/09/2013 12:04

Another good one I think. Wasn't wearing a watch so I won't know till the email comes.

DS is much faster than me so after he finishes, he jogs back to find me, then runs beside me to the end, encouraging me to sprint the last bit and saying 'go, go, go mum'! Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/09/2013 12:47

Oh Baking that is brilliant! It's such a good feeling when it all works Smile

I like your son's encouragement nightsky Smile

Lukethe3 · 14/09/2013 13:13

Hello. I've been lurking on this thread for a week and you've inspired me to google 'parkrun' and find out what it's about. I'm a 39 year old with 2DS under 5 and I just started running 2 weeks ago! I haven't run since I was a teenager and even then I have never been a 'natural' runner.

Anyhow did my first parkrun today in Poole. We has a beautiful sunny morning. I was amazed how many people turned out- probably about 450 and how friendly everyone was. And even more amazingly I think I have maybe done a sub 30. I'm still waiting the official time. I'm so pleased with that as I had no idea what to expect and did not know if I would even run the whole way round.

I hope you don't mind me celebrating my success on here, no one in RL is particularly interested.

Just for interest if I continue running about 4 times a week and lose about 4kg what sort of time could I hope to aim for realistically? Bearing in mind me not being an athlete of any kind. I suppose I'm asking what an average fit 39 year old should be able to achieve.
