Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

IsThatTrue · 06/09/2013 20:05

The last time I tried parkrun tourism I couldn't find the sodding run!

My friend is driving this time so hopefully we'll have better luck

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/09/2013 21:36

I am on my second glassBlush , and have had takeaway curry Blush

But I did run 8 miles this morningShock

Blatherskite · 06/09/2013 21:46

Call it carb loading OhOne Wink

I know many people who've had their best runs after a skin full.

woundbobbin · 06/09/2013 21:55

Just getting into bed having fallen asleep in front of the football.
Have had a monster of a week at work so not feeling much like it tomorrow esp as it is raining so will have to push the buggy through the mud.
Must dig out that positive mental attitude
Good luck everyone

Blatherskite · 06/09/2013 22:01

Do you know which volunteer job you have yet Standingonlego?

Should I look out for a manically waving MNer on the way round or at the end? Grin

I'll probably wear my Movember vest with my name on...

Standingonlego · 06/09/2013 22:33

Hi everyone and especially blathers.

I have had a major organisational fail as found out my DS Hockey club starts back tomorrow so I need to drop them off at 9am....so am doing that then dashing back over to parkrun!!! I was down to Marshal but will now prob be just waving and cheering at the funnel.

I will be there at the end somewhere looking for the movembered blathering one, I will be prob wearing weather appropriate gear so trying frantically to think of something more distinctive than "black coat..." (Copy of FT under arm? Red Carnation? Bag of Pom bears?)...

If I was running would be easy as have a green & yellow neon-ish vest!!!

Ok....I will put on my pinky purple long sleeve top and just look for you!

Car parking - you can park near the old pavilion (toilets are in changing rooms, knock on little window of door shut for lady to let you in) or there are parking "bays" all along the main road. park run is easy to see near tennis courts, lots of folk milling about and then all walk down together to the start near playground.

Blatherskite · 06/09/2013 22:46

Looks like a good chunk of one of my running clubs is coming tomorrow so I'll be the one surrounded by people in green shirts :)

Standingonlego · 06/09/2013 23:02

Is it tHe David Lloyd / redline runners gang from mk? They arrive as a horde on 1st sat of month to do the magic mile :)

IsThatTrue · 07/09/2013 00:44

Good luck to everyone who is running tomorrow! My pb at both local parkruns were after a night out Hmm

can you tell by the time that ds2 is not cooperating and letting me sleep

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 07/09/2013 07:32

Standingonlego · 07/09/2013 08:51

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/09/2013 10:16

Morning all

I ran after a fashion this morning. I don't recommend copious amounts of red wine the night before a parkrun, no matter how busy the previous week has been Grin. I don't even drink red usually Grin. Anyway, no PB, but think I was about 30 mins.

Lizzy - hope your abstemiousness worked this morning

Blathers - hope you and your friend found your way

wound - hope to mud was not too deep

Isthat - hope you got some kip in the end

Right, off to Waitrose, then to watch DS1 play rugby . I am under strict orders not to shriek or show any emotion Grin.

woundbobbin · 07/09/2013 10:28

Morning
How did everyone do?
Well done 010203 for getting round fuelled on red wine.
Dd (my alarm clock) woke at 8.10 this morning which led to a bit of a rush so we had to go to the close park run which is not that easy to access with the pram & the volunteer at the start shouts very loudly and dd always crys hysterically (because she is a bit of a wuss)
But anyway we got round but no hope of a pb
Hope everyone else did a bit better

IsThatTrue · 07/09/2013 10:48

Definite pb for me today Grin sub 30 minutes! Grin

I hope everyone else did well!

Morning OhOne and woundbobbin. That sounds like a stressful run wound, well done for getting out and getting it done.

I'm a bit frustrated after my second ever parkrun. I had to stop and walk a couple of times to catch my breath on slight inclines hills, but I managed a sprint run at the end again. My legs can do it, but my lungs just can't. What's best for working on that? Is it just keep running and my fitness will improve over time, or would something like interval training be a good idea?

wem · 07/09/2013 10:50

Well done IsThatTrue! :)

Lizzylou · 07/09/2013 11:16

Well done on your boozy run 010203! Grin
Isthattrue, woohoo! Well done Grin
Wound, well done, pushing a buggy round would kill me!
Wem, I think it is just keeping on, the more you run the easier it will be, well done on your 2nd parkrun Grin

I think I did ok, started off a tad too fast (the lady I had earmarked to stalk wasn't there!) so slowed for 2nd half then managed to sprint finish up the slope to the finish. Was a panting, red faced guppy handing in my barcode! Not many there today, think there are a few toughmudders going on.

IsThatTrue · 07/09/2013 11:59

ohone I've done some runs after vats of white wine. It is nice running, drinking loads and not needing a wee Grin

wound that sounds like a rushed morning and a hard run! Well done on still getting out there. I hope dd wasn't upset for long. How old is she?

wem I've just found my breathing a got better over time but I do do intervals sometimes and hills (I hate hills!!)

lizzy it's rubbish that your pacesetter wasn't there! I find pacing myself really hard.

today a friend was running, I spent the whole run thinking 'keep in front of DF' she spent it thinking 'keep up with isthat' Grin it worked though, pbs all round :)

OP posts:
Newrowsees · 07/09/2013 12:01

Wem, just keep running, I reckon. Once you've done a few more of these at a steady pace you could build in faster intervals / hill sprints. But sounds like you're doing brilliantly so far!

I got a PB today (and remembered my barcode - woohoo!) Was also the first lady round, which I'm amazed by. However there was a 10k race in the park afterwards, so I suspect the serious runners might have defected this week. But I'm really pleased with 22-something regardless. Might get under 20 minutes yet!

Standingonlego · 07/09/2013 12:26

Excellent work people! You are all awesome :)

Love seeing the Sat updates, gutted I was nit able to make it down it run or volunteer in the end....but the joy of parkrun is that there is always next week.

blathers how did you get at my local?

Blatherskite · 07/09/2013 13:26

I made it :)

We found the course OK and did a steady (28 min) parkrun as we were saving ourselves for the mile. I did it in 7:38 which I'm chuffed to bits with Grin I did feel a bit Envy afterwards though!

Then we wandered down the road to a cafe for a bit of breakfast before coming home.

It was really nice to try another course. Looking forward to the first Aylesbury one now...

Imwoodword · 07/09/2013 16:52

Blatherskite you can't be far from me, I'll be trying the Aylesbury one soon!

Not sure what time I did today, hoping to get the email soon!

Lizzylou · 07/09/2013 16:58

I keep checking phone/email as well!

Blatherskite · 07/09/2013 17:16

I'll be doing the first one Imwoodword. The "horde" that Standingonlego mentioned are doing a road trip specially :)

Will be another easy one though as I've got a 10k that evening!
