Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Will do Blathers - and you must come to Bedford! We are still pretty small.

Blatherskite · 31/08/2013 20:34

I should but it's amazing how far away these things feel when it's 8am :)

One of my running clubs organises regular road trips to different Parkruns and I'm sure Bedford is one of the regular ones.

Did you know Aylesbury are getting a Parkrun soon? 26th October.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2013 20:36

Ooh I didn't know that.

I know what you mean - I am 10 mins by bike from my parkrun, the thought of having to get in the car, drive and find parking put me off going anywhere else Smile

IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 20:36

Well done golden keep chipping away at that pb! :)

Blatherskite · 31/08/2013 20:41

Well done golden

I drive to ours but there is a huge car park at the lake which helps. I really should run as to the lake and back is another 5k so I could do 10k overall but again, it always seems like a really early start and seems easier to get in the car.

Iggity · 31/08/2013 21:10

Well done everyone on parkruns today. I have the cold so stayed in bed so no parkrun tourism for me. My DH was able to do my home parkrun today for very first time and he did it in 20:46 and came 40th out of 440! He found it hard and said he didn't realise how many hills there were.

Will have to wait until next week.... :(

woundbobbin · 31/08/2013 21:36

30.24 it's a avec pram pb but not the sub 30 I was hoping for.
Well done everyoneGrin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2013 22:54

wound - not far off, and hats off to you for running with a pram.

Hope you feel better soon Iggity

Standingonlego · 31/08/2013 23:32

Back from jolly France just in time to wave frantically at blathers and ohone* to say that I am a Northampton park runner! It is true, it is quite flat and fast...there is a steady incline but not a proper hill at all. I have never run MK or Bedford so cannot compare, but it would be great to see you !!! Usually about 200-230ish runners.

If you fancy a visit give me a shout! The first sat of each month at 10am there is also the "magic mile", a timed mile which quite a few park runners stay on to do.

I intend to be there next Saturday...and maybe I should plan a jaunt to my other locals. The only other parkrun I have done is Mansfield.

IsThatTrue · 01/09/2013 01:57

wound that's a great time with the buggy. Well done!

Well results came in and my position was 302/415! That's an amazing amount of people.

I love parkrun but sometimes it still leaves me Shock

wem · 01/09/2013 09:10

woundbobbin - a woman with a pram passed me yesterday. Her baby looked pretty chilled looking out at all the runners. I waved at him, but he wasn't very impressed :)

My results came through - 36.46 :) I like looking at all the stats they send you. I'm all fired up to get a better time next week.

IsThatTrue · 01/09/2013 09:18

Well done wem when I run with DS (8mo) in the buggy he falls asleep before the 1k mark and doesn't wake until the end :) all the runners find it hilarious.

woundbobbin · 01/09/2013 09:37

Congrats wem that's a brilliant first time now you will be hooked and heading for the red t-shirt.
Dd loves parkrun she spends her time spotting dogs and hooting at them and then hooting when we run pass the swings.
People have started to see me as a challenge I'm the only person with a pram at my parkrun and i hear people behind me saying bloody hell I'm not getting beaten my that women with the pram! It's a bit disconcerting

Lizzylou · 01/09/2013 09:44

Well done Wound (in awe that you can be so fast with a buggy), Go Wem!

Soo, am off to gym in a bit to do some interval training in my quest to get my ass in under 30mins. Have planned a new Autumn exercise plan and will try to fit in an extra run. I do respond better to a plan, make it a habit then I actually do it and don't make excuses Blush

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/09/2013 10:46

Lizzy - my times have improved since I've been marathon training, which has meant running at least 5 or 6 miles three or four times a week. I hate intervals Grin but love a good plan Smile.

Wish me luck - my plan is telling me to run 20 miles today Shock. I am quite scared, but as the plan is by the same people who did the C25K I have faith that I can do it. It's a bit like the 20 minute run towards the end of C25K that sounds impossible until you do it. I am carbed up and taking plenty of gels and liquid Smile.

Lizzylou · 01/09/2013 12:47

20 miles?Shock
I think I may prefer my plan Grin
Good luck, when are you running your marathon?

melliebobs · 01/09/2013 13:02

Well done on your times parkrunners.

Being a marshal was more fun than I expected. Only 70 people at ours but 3 people had come up from Worcester to try it. Words spreading how tough it is! It was lovely that even those at the front despite pushing themselves to their limits still have a laugh/joke/thank you as they pass.

Back to running next Saturday though

Blatherskite · 01/09/2013 13:54

Standingonlego the plan is to do Northampton next Saturday :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/09/2013 15:56

I may never walk again Grin

I daren't take my trainers off because then I'll be able to see as well as feel the blisters on my toes Grin

I want to eat everything in sight (and once I am showered will be going round the corner for cake) Grin

It was hard work, but I did it, 20 miles in two seconds short of four hours Grin

The marathon is 9 weeks today

Blatherskite · 01/09/2013 16:05

Good work OhOne! Well done

IsThatTrue · 01/09/2013 19:57

Well done ohone 20 miles is amazing! And 4 hrs is a great time! We'll all be cheering you on for your marathon. :)

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/09/2013 21:33

Thank you Blathers and IsThat.

I'm really starting to hurt now Grin. Injuries include blisters on both big toes, and a horrible bra rash which I didn't notice until I got into the shower. I'm going to have more Cake and a Brew and hobble off to bed.

Iggity · 01/09/2013 23:36

Well done ohone. I am doing a half marathon at end of this month. My training has been less than optimal.

Lizzylou · 02/09/2013 06:26

ohone, that is amazing, 20 miles in 4 hours? Wow.
Hope that you wake up blister and bra rash free.

The most I have ever ran, after a fair bit of training was 10km, that killed me.
Huge respect.

IsThatTrue · 02/09/2013 06:59

ohone I was told to put Vaseline under everything so socks and bra. Apparantly it helps.
