Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Hi everyone! First of all welcome to the parkrun family wem

Secondly I am very Blush at neglecting my own thread, RL is getting in the way of MN atm, although thankfully not of running as it helps me clear my head.

So I hope everyone had a lovely run this morning. We had the pacers out which was really helpful and I ran a sub-30 with a sprint finish. It is a 5k pb for me, I can't wait for the official time :)

I'm even more impressed that I managed it after 4 glasses of wine, 2 glasses of sangria, tapas, 1.30 bedtime, no sleep between 2.30-3.30 thanks ds2 and a 6.30 wake up call thanks ds1 so I'm feeling very proud right now.

Well done to everyone who ran today. We're all stars!

Well it was a good one for me I think. I forgot my watch though. I felt faster as the quick ones were lapping me a bit later on then they normally do.

wem · 31/08/2013 11:40

Thanks IsThatTrue :) I'm really pleased I did it. I had to walk a few paces towards the end, but hopefully made up for it with a sprint finish Grin. The people in front of me in the queue said they thought they'd got around 36.40, so I guess somewhere around 37mins?

That's the first time I've tried a 5K course since I started c25k in June, so I'm pretty happy with it :)

wem · 31/08/2013 11:43

thenightsky - I'd prepared myself for being lapped, but it was a bit dispiriting when the first ones passed me shortly after the 1K mark!

IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 12:18

wem well done, 37 minutes is a great time for your first 5k! Be proud!

Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 13:19

Wem, that is awesome, you have only been running since June as well?
Fantastic.

Newrow, you must sprint round, fabulous time.

Newrowsees · 31/08/2013 13:35

Wem, if you managed a sprint finish that means you had lots left in the tank. You can be even faster next time! Well done, hope you enjoyed it enough to do it again next time - it gets addictive after a while! Grin

Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 17:35

I got 30 : 57. So close to my pb, but still not under 30 minutes! waaaah.
Never mind, better than last week.

IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 17:42

Well done lizzy and a pb is a pb :) and as you say, there's always next week.

Our results aren't in yet but as I was 302 and there were still plenty of people behind me it'll probably be a while yet.

OP posts:
Knackerelli · 31/08/2013 18:10

302, wow, that's a big parkrun! Congrats to everyone who ran today, really great results from everyone. Today I finally got my sub 30 run! Did it in 29:26 so very very happy Grin Think I'll have some wine to celebrate! Wine

wem · 31/08/2013 18:18

Aw, thanks everyone, I've got the warm fuzzies now :).

Newrowsees I've always been more of a sprinter than a runner, my legs don't like slow and steady, everything feels like it works much better when I break into a sprint. For a few seconds, then I collapse into a panting heap Wink

IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 18:19

Yay well done on your sub 30 knackerelli

OP posts:
wem · 31/08/2013 18:20

Well done Knackerelli! Enjoy that Wine!

Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 18:39

knackerelli, really, really, really well done!
What an achievement

Blatherskite · 31/08/2013 18:50

I did sub 30 too this week. I've been running with a friend with a bad foot so we've been taking it slowly for the past few weeks so it was really good to feel pushed again. It was a mid 28 minutes when I came in.

We had a record turn out for ours this week. I left as runner number 450 was coming in and there were still more behind him!! Shock It's great that it's popular but it's next to impossible to PB these days as the start is so congested. I actually stopped completely at one point just past the start!

Going to try a bit of Parkrun tourism next week and have a go at Northampton :)

IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 18:52

blathers our most local one is quite small compared to the one I did today. But I like to vary the course and I'm lucky there are loads local to me. this has nothing to do with the massive hill on my local parkrun

OP posts:
IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 18:53

Oh and well done on your 28 something, what's your pb blathers?

OP posts:
IsThatTrue · 31/08/2013 19:03

Woohoo 29.36 Grin

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 19:03

28? Blimey! Well done Blathers Smile
we have about 120-150 each week, this week was a lower turnout. The nearest to me after this one is far bigger, but quite a way away.

Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 19:04

Well done isthat!

Knackerelli · 31/08/2013 19:11

Arr, thanks everyone! Lizzylou you can definitely do it, you're really close!

Blatherskite · 31/08/2013 19:24

PB is 26:30 for Parkrun. It's getting harder and harder to get a good time with the start the way it is at the moment though. My official time was 29.06 today which means it took me over 30 seconds just to get through the start! I never start my watch until I get to the start line and we were still stopping and starting for the first 200 meters after that. I really should push further to the front but like someone else said, I get a bit intimidated by the properly fast runners.

I did another local 5k in 26.01 a while ago but that was very flat which helps as my local parkrun has a nasty set of hilly zig zags in the middle. Northampton is flatter I'm told but all very slightly up hill so I'll see how that goes. I've got a bit of a sore calf (possibly shin splints) at the moment which is making my hip and opposite knee hurt too as I compensate so I'm struggling a bit.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2013 19:49

I am very pleased - 10 seconds off my PB, despite not going for it because I'm doing a long run tomorrow. 28.40 according to parkrun, 19.06 according to my garmin (which I forgot to turn off as I crossed the line). I'll take their time!

Newrowsees - well done, super-speedy. The man in front of me didn't have his bar code but they still gave him a place and told him to look for 133 on the website, so you should get a time, it just won't be linked to you iyswim.

IsThat - impressive result, especially after your night last night Grin.

nightsky - well done. It's great to get further round before the lappers come along isn't it Smile.

wem - great stuff - and a sprint finish!

knackerelli - well done on breaking 30 mins.

lizzy - there's always next week Smile.

blathers - well done. Have you done Northampton before? I was thinking about MK or Huntingdon for a change.

Goldendandelion · 31/08/2013 20:20

A pb for me today. 31.57 Smile

Some of you guys are really fast Shock

Blatherskite · 31/08/2013 20:22

I've done MK every single time. The one time I tried another Parkrun was while I was on holiday a months ago and I couldn't find the place! My friend is driving next week otherwise I probably wouldn't bother for fear of getting lost again!

If you do MK let me know and I'll meet you at the start :)
