Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

Ohoneohtwo - yep as in age, I was in denial till I saw it in black and White on the results page. Might take a look at the DVD or poss check YouTube for something similar.

IsThatTrue · 26/08/2013 03:25

ohone I am in awe of your marathon training. Well done you!

holmes great attitude with the 'onwards and upwards', that one of the great things about parkrun, there's always next week :)

iggity well done this week.

jellybrain I'm sure you haven't started too late at all. You are doing amazingly well already. I can only dream of 28 minutes at the moment. Shred is hard work but great for toning I have not dug out my DVD yet as I remember the aching last time Blush I do a Pilates DVD to help strengthen my core muscles. Also interval/hills training can vastly improve you running speed. And doing some longer training runs can bring down your 5k time. Good luck :)

Well done to knackerelli and everyone else who ran this weekend.

holmessweetholmes · 27/08/2013 08:41

Thanks IsThatTrue! Let's hope the positive mental attitude translates to tangible results!

IsThatTrue · 28/08/2013 08:33

I'm really hoping XH can pick dcs up early sat morning as I'd really like DH and ds2 to come and cheer me on.

melliebobs · 29/08/2013 07:21

Lol ill have to remember that one ohone I like it!

lizzie where in lancs do you run? I'm lancashire too and I know they are few n far between

Knackerelli · 29/08/2013 22:11

Did a 4 mile run tonight, but runkeeper app reckons I ran 13 miles averaging 3 miles a minute! Hmm Although I did laugh out loud when at one stage it said I was running at 1 min 53 secs per mile!!

Blatherskite · 29/08/2013 22:35

I did 4 miles tonight too :)

I realised today that this Saturdays Parkrun will be my 40th which means I am tantalisingly close to that tshirt. DH doesn't get it at all so I thought I'd come and share my excitement here :)

Iggity · 30/08/2013 00:05

Well not such a great week for running due simply to laziness and a bit of travelling. However I am now in N.I. and finally went running this morning. I am staying on the coast and there is no way to get to the beach apart from running down hills.
Not so bad on way down but way back was a killer. The beach running was amusing! It was a mixture of firm sand and soft fine shingle. Running on the sinking shingle was tough and slow. Not really geared up for Portush parkrun on Saturday as I am now terrified of the sand.

Any tips for running on sand? I am contemplating running up the steepest hill in the world (IMO) tomorrow morning. It has a 10% incline. I may need to get my son to stand at top of it waving an ice cream at me!

Best of luck to everyone for Saturday.

IsThatTrue · 30/08/2013 03:56

Oh blathers well done. In under 3 months you could have your t shirt :)

iggity I found soft sand hard when I was at the seaside and avoided it as much as possible. Sorry I know that's not much help.

Well I've done 11 miles this week so far. I did 6 with a friend and then 2.3 with DH and the buggy yesterday, then sent DH off home with DS and did another 2.7miles.

I've convinced my XH to pick the big dcs up at. 8 on sat so DH and DS are coming to cheer me on :)

Bring on the parkrun this week!

Hello parkrunners. I'm considering my first parkrun tomorrow. Encouraging words would be appreciated Grin Anyone who runs the Leeds course got any tips?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/08/2013 10:11

Go blathers! We will have to have a mn meet up for your fiftieth!

Go wem! I have only run Leeds once, it is a pretty course and although I think there's a hill it''s not too badSmile

I am running tomorrow. day off today. I have done 25 marathon training miles so far this week, including a hill training run in my parkrun park (I ran half laps and tried to go as fast as possible up the different kinds of flat Grin)

wem · 30/08/2013 10:33

Thanks OhOne, that sounds good :)

melliebobs · 30/08/2013 15:08

Full of a stinking cold. Went for a 4 mile run on Wednesday under the logic 'ill sweat it out' but it just made it ten times worse Sad so think ill be marshalling tommorow

watchingout · 30/08/2013 18:55

I have a cold too mellibobs Hmm I did first Parkrun last week and really want to go again, but apart from a short run on Monday, I've not been anywhere. Volunteering for me too....

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/08/2013 20:12

hell again wem. I realised after posting this morning that I was talking about roundhay rather than Leeds Blush

woundbobbin · 30/08/2013 20:38

Good luck for tomorrow wem you can do it!
Bobs hope the cold improves always a mistake to try and sweat it out IMO but always so tempting!
Am determined to go sub 30 avec pram tomorrow but having just completed 1st week back in work post mat leave am not sure I'll have it in me

wem · 30/08/2013 21:12

Thanks woundbobbin, good luck to you too. I'm just getting my head around running 5K, let alone doing it with a pram!

That's ok OhOne, I've been getting confused too. I'm definitely doing the Woodhouse Moor one though - fewer hills than at Roundhay :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/08/2013 21:57

I am drinking wine, so will probably not break 30 tomorrow Grin.

Good luck to wound, wem, iggity and all parkrunners.

KristinaM · 31/08/2013 06:54

Oh that explains it then, I've been drinking wine every Friday night since I started parkrun. Could I run sub 20 if I gave it up? < ponders>

woundbobbin · 31/08/2013 08:04

Good luck to everyone running today especially those with hangovers Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2013 08:34
Grin

As it turned out, I only had the one Smile.

Gorgeous morning here, hope you all have good runs and look forward to hearing about them later!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/08/2013 10:10

How did everyone do?

I think I was about 29 mins.

Lizzylou · 31/08/2013 10:16

I think I did ok, better than last week I think.
Not record breaking, but felt ok. I did have wine last night though, so have an excuse if I was pantsGrin
I haven't had chance to run much this week so have another excuse at the ready as well.

Newrowsees · 31/08/2013 11:13

Hi ladies, wasn't it another beautiful day for running!? Was so upset, I forgot my barcode today, so won't have a record of my time on the website. It was definitely a PB too, at about 23.20 based on my phone's running app :( Never mind, I'll just have to do even better next time!

I started near the front today which I think made a big difference. But gosh, the men sprint off at the start, it was pretty intimidating!!
