Right, lets find all the park runners we have on here. I did my first park run on sat.

I am very impressed with my time of 33.18 :) I am ridiculously pleased with myself.

So park runners, where are you?

I didn't PB, but had a lovely cool run in the rain. I ran home too, as I needed to run 6 miles today .

Wise words from our pacer today, which made me think of mellie: "There are no hills. There are just different kinds of flat".

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/08/2013 10:53

Lucky you Kristina Envy. Still pouring here. Just sent DSs out to the park with a rugby ball.

Quenelle · 24/08/2013 11:06

I missed the start Angry. I thought it was 9.30 but it's 9am.

Ran 3.8m on my own instead [grumpy]

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/08/2013 11:08

Oh Quenelle! But at least you still ran!

thenightsky · 24/08/2013 11:37

I think i've done ok this week as my pacing felt more steady instead of speeding up and slowing down all the time. Didn't have a watch on so will have to wait for this afternoon's email. It didn't rain where I was, but was very humid and hot.

Knackerelli · 24/08/2013 11:56

Well done everyone! No rain here but underneath felt a bit slippy from all the rain overnight. Just have to wait now for the email.....

KristinaM · 24/08/2013 12:13

Quenelle -you live in the wrong place, it's 930 in Scotland :-)

Blatherskite · 24/08/2013 12:26

I was tailrunning too. Got very wet but everyone was home in 47 minutes so it could have been worse.

Lizzylou · 24/08/2013 12:27

This morning was tough after 3 weeks off and overindulging on holiday. But I did it Grin
Bizarrely for Lancs the rain held off.

holmessweetholmes · 24/08/2013 13:05

Well I'm pretty sure I did a better time today, although I forgot to look at my watch at the start. Just goes to show that it's largely psychological. I haven't got magically fitter since last week, but I just started with a slightly more determined and up-for-it attitude. Plus I latched onto someone in front of me and didn't let them get away! Let's hope I'm right about my time!

Newrowsees · 24/08/2013 13:41

Hi all, did everyone get nice and soggy this morning?? Not sure how I did this week - it felt harder than I remember last week being, so I'm not expecting a personal best.

I did manage a bit of a sprint finish though, which felt amazing. It probably didn't make up for my ploddy start though. I find it so hard to gauge my speed at the beginning - maybe I should invest in a watch that will tell me how fast I'm going. Does anyone have a clever gadget that does that??

IsThatTrue · 24/08/2013 14:11

Hi everyone, well I'm not sure if I managed a pb If I did it was pretty close tbh. I did sprint the last 200m though. I find mile 2 really hard. Not sure why. I'm going to have to work on that. It felt really hard today but ds2 was an arse last night, I was up 12, 3,4,5,6 so it's no surprise I wasn't at my best.

There weren't many people at our parkrun this morning, so there were only 5-10 people who came in after me.

Well done everyone on getting out this morning!.

Newrosees I have a very basic Garmin 110 which tells me my speed/pace.

IsThatTrue · 24/08/2013 15:44

I use Strava app on my phone in an arm strap but its annoying me more and more so I'll prob end up getting a garmin tbh.

Well, I braved the rain (of which there was very little) and went for the Parkrun this morning. Got a PB - it was only my second run so stood a chance - and time was 28.35 so rather chuffed with myself, nearly 3 minutes quicker than last week.

BIWI · 24/08/2013 17:24

I've finally managed to get up to 30 minutes running, and am just short of 5K, so am considering about signing up to a Parkrun soon. I've worked out that I can get there easily on public transport (there are so many runners that they ask you not to drive there). But what do you do with any extra kit that you take with you? Is there anywhere usually provided to leave stuff or do you have to run with it?

IsThatTrue · 24/08/2013 17:39

BIWI normally they have somewhere near the manned tables that you can dump your stuff. :)

Imwoodward well done on your PB! Amazing!

Well I managed a pb 31.16, so 16 seconds faster. But I did take my headphones off and dump them halfway through which took about 20 seconds, so I'm really pleased with that time. :)

Well done parkrunners!

Blatherskite · 24/08/2013 17:49

There is nowhere to leave stuff at our parkrun but then we're not asking people to come by public transport. It might be worth finding the local parkrun page on FB (I think most course have one) or mailing the organisers from the parkrun website and asking...

MelanieCheeks · 24/08/2013 17:53

There's usually people manning a table at the finish line. Ours has a biscuit tin for car keys etc.

Knackerelli · 24/08/2013 18:13

Our results haven't been posted yet.....

IsThatTrue · 24/08/2013 19:00

I got my email, 115/131 31.16. In feeling happy with that :)

Evening everyone. Well done to all the parkrunners today!

Back in the UK and another soggy parkrun this morning. Time wasn't great (30.38) for me. Nowhere near my days of 29.04. Was also my 25th one so halfway to the t shirt. I can do 5k in less than 30 mins on the treadmill but when I get outside, I just slow down and it all seems too hard. Once my half marathon training is over, I'm going to follow a 5k improver plan. My DH says I need to run with someone faster to get better. Any thoughts?

Two of my friends were respectively the first male and female in another parkrun today which I thought was fantastic- the guy is married to the girl's sister!

Mollycuddles, I am hoping to do Portrush on the 31st August as I'll be over in NI from this Tuesday for a week. Have you ever done it before? I've never run on sand before but I will be staying in Ballycastle so will have a few days to run on the beach there in preparation.

Iggity · 24/08/2013 19:21

Meant to add that the 1st female in my home parkrun last week was 9 yrs old....time was just over 20 mins. I am amazed! That was out of a field of 383 runners!

MelanieCheeks · 24/08/2013 19:29

I've done Portrush! It's a stunning course, really beautiful. You can hear the strains of "Chariots of Fire" as you pound along beside the sea. But the soft sand means it's hard to get a PB. Nice and flat, though!

thenightsky · 24/08/2013 19:38

Knackerelli I'm thinking you and me may be doing the same parkrun... very slippy path when wet and no results posted up yet.
