I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

Evening everyone Smile

You keep jiggling those pompoms IWill, I think I need the encouragement. Tonight's workout is looming...

GrimmaTheNome · 10/07/2013 20:55

we're all exercising in our pants!
not me - heaven forfend! Usually these but in the heat I've switched to running shorts. With a looseish top and of course heavy-duty sports bra.

Does anyone make the equivalent of a sports bra for tummies? Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 11/07/2013 09:16

Day 17, L2 - managed it reasonably well except those military presses but I've done 2 sets of those afterwards.

OverAndAbove · 11/07/2013 10:22

I did day 2 of level 2 - I wasn't aching too much after yesterday, although finding the shoulder presses tough; but the cardio is a killer!

I think my arms have toned a little. Difficult to tell, as I also have a bit of a tan, but anyway they definitely look better...

icepole · 12/07/2013 04:57

Wednesday I fell off the wagon. Did level 2 yesterday. Arms feeling stronger for sure. I can only do easy versions of things though.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/07/2013 10:26

Day 18 done, L2 as before.
61.3 kg so that's nearly 1.5 kg down since July 1st...though I think I was a little dehydrated when I weighed.

That's 9st 9 in old money which is 'just over 9 and a half' rather than 'nearly ten', isn't it? Grin

Illustrated · 12/07/2013 10:40

Hello everyone,

I'm a bit late to the game here, hope that's ok. I can see you are all quite far in (please tell me your all feeling better now you've gotten into it)

I had a baby 11 months ago and although I'm back to my pre pregnancy weight my body is certainly not what I'd like it to be. I'm 8 and a half stone and would like to tone up my stomach and lose the fat on my hips, thighs and bum.

I started yesterday but I'm going to need a lot of motivation as I'm already completely tired out from my dd. I'm not aching as much as I thought I'd be. I originally started the shred before I got pregnant and I remember being in a lot of pain on day 2, I'm not sure why I'm not now!

GrimmaTheNome · 12/07/2013 12:29

Of course you can join, we're not even halfway through the month!

TBH I didn't feel too bad till days 3 and 4, but it did get better after that. Take note of advice below to support yourself for the quad stretch at the end so you can do it really well, that might help a bit.

IWillDoItInAMinute · 12/07/2013 13:07

Grimma thanks for the quad stretch tip, much better to steady oneself rather than wobbling all over the place! Although my tummy is still wobbly, I could use a tummy sports bra, what a fab idea!!

It reminded me of the Seinfeld episode with the "mansier or Bro"

. Fantastic work everyone and welcome newcomers!!

L1D7 done, I was going to try level 2 yesterday -as jealous with all the progress and talk of plank jacks- but on YouTube it said I had to rent it Confused
So I decided I should buy the DVD, it is time.

Spent 5mins searching YouTube this morning and found it for free, yay!!!

I had a quick look, what is Natalie doing?? Walking on her hands into a push up??? [frightened emoticon]

I might just stick to level 1 until my 10 days are up...

GrimmaTheNome · 12/07/2013 13:46

You can just walk out to plank position and hold instead of the full 'walking pushup'. I'm doing something between at the moment - walking out and then doing a slight dip, nowhere near the full push-up.

MrsBertMacklin · 12/07/2013 13:46

Hi everyone, L1D6 completed this morning. My face didn't go red!

Having a go at Level 2 the day before helped, as I swapped out some of the cardio and abs with moves from L2 to make it more interesting, e.g. swapped a set of jumping jacks for oblique twists, reverse crunches for double crunches.

NoelHeadbands · 12/07/2013 17:01

L2D16 done- missed a turn the other night and did a run instead.

Knackered.

MrsBertMacklin · 12/07/2013 17:13

Noel when you do the plank/burpee thing in L2, are you careful about your technique or do you just throw yourself up and down and make the best of it? It takes me ages just to get up and down, so I'm not worrying too much about getting my arms in the right place, as I'm worried about keeping up with the DVD.

NoelHeadbands · 12/07/2013 21:12

Is that the walk out-push up thing MrsB

If so... I make a bit of a hash of it I guess.. I walk it out as straight legged as I can, then I fanny around trying to spread my arms out (because she mentions later on that the plank pose is different to the push up pose). Then I kind of 'dip' a bit- a proper press up is still beyond me. Then finally, I scramble back up.

And then they've done two to my one.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/07/2013 23:58

Yeah, snap, that's how real people do 'em. Grin

Illustrated · 13/07/2013 11:22

Day 3! My legs are achy today, going up and down stairs is a killer.

Im wondering if any of you plan on weighing yourselves/re measuring hips/waist etc. half way through or are you just going to wait till day 30?

IWillDoItInAMinute · 13/07/2013 11:28

L1D8 done before it gets too hot -and everyone is out so they can't point and laugh "look at mummy!"-

Disappointed as Level 2 has gone again on YT Confused
So I've ordered the DVD on amazon, I feel ready to move on.

Lost 2lbs this week, probably due to sweating Blush. Anyone else feeling stronger? I really think my arms are improving.

Tbh if I didn't have this thread I think I wouldn't be as motivated with this, so thanks to all! Your posts encourage me and sometimes make me snort!

Enjoy the weekend!!!

NoelHeadbands · 13/07/2013 12:33

I weigh about once a week Illustrated but I just took a 'Before' pic, I didn't measure. I'm planning on taking an 'After' pic...just hope I start to see some differences soon!

I feel tonnes stronger though, like IWill says

MrsBertMacklin · 13/07/2013 12:40

InAMinute L2 is showing ?

I'm only on L1D6 and my calves have shaped up incredibly. I do like the jumpy moves though, so much fun. I haven't noticed any physical difference elsewhere yet, but yesterday's workout didn't kill me as much - apart from bloody reverse crunches - I just can't do them!

Photo is a good idea, as is meassuring your waist, arms, thighs etc. every fortnight. Given that we should be putting muscle on, this will be a better indicator of progress than weight loss.

IWillDoItInAMinute · 13/07/2013 13:18

MrsB you are bloody brilliant !! Flowers Thank you so much, I'll try L2 tomorrow once the coast is clear.

Not sure if I could take a photo. It is a good idea though. Perhaps on a brave day Grin

FitByForty · 13/07/2013 13:33

L1D4 done for me. It does seem to be getting a little easier though it was tough last night when it was so hot! Thankful the muscle aches the day after have started to ease a little too. I no longer feel as if my arms are going to fall off!
I've not done any measurements at the beginning but I did take some before pics (just hope no one else finds them on my phone)
On my way to London for a hen night now so today will officially be a rest day. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

PessimisticMissPiggy · 13/07/2013 18:47

I'm away for a couple of days and DH said it was embarrassing to take it with us!

Back on it Monday.

why on earth would it be misspiggy?

icepole · 14/07/2013 08:52

Missed a day Friday but did level 2 yesterday. Am a slacker. I do alright until the chair lift thing.

MrsBertMacklin · 14/07/2013 12:54

Missed yesterday; it was just too bloody hot. I've been catching up on sleep this morning after a really crap night, planning on getting L1D7 done shortly before my second shower of the day.
