I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

First day of Level 2 done today, thanks again for the link MrsB!

It wasn't too bad. I had to miss the first few of each exercise as I needed to watch Jillian...some of those moves are very complicated Confused

Everything was extra wobbly, think I'll need to wear more than undies next time Grin

GoodtoBetter · 14/07/2013 20:59

I found the skater v hard because I am totally uncoordinated.

GrimmaTheNome · 15/07/2013 09:24

Day 19, L2 done.

I didn't do any over the weekend - intentionally on Saturday, spent all day watching DD sail/windsurf - too hot to contemplate donning my full wetsuit to do any myself, and they don't really like people sailing singlehanders or windsurfing without ... must get a shortie.

Yesterday we got up early and took the inflatable canoe to Coniston, which was great - but after packing up ready to go at about 3pm we found that we were boxed into the car park and were stuck till after 4:30 when other people started to leave and there was room to manoeuvre out. Following last week's car key debacle, we're wondering what we will do next sunday to get inadvertently stuck for a few hours somewhere pleasant. Anyway, by the time we'd got home and I'd sorted the gear and food there just wasn't time but at least I'd done some good paddling.

IWillDoItInAMinute · 15/07/2013 11:53

Sounds like a lively weekend Grimma Grin

Sympathies Good the pendulum lunge is a particular problem for me as I am also totally uncoordinated.

Level 2 day2 - aches not too bad. I do get very red in the face and sweaty, it's not attractive!!

Am feeling stronger Smile

MrsBertMacklin · 15/07/2013 12:27

L1D8 done. Did D7 yesterday and found that the Anita moves weren't really hard anymore so I've moved up to match Natalie. Still mixing in some cardio from Level 2 with Level 1, much more fun.

Oh, and I found this on My Fitness Pal about Natalie cheating when Jillian's not looking. Keep an eye out next time, they are right Smile

NoelHeadbands · 15/07/2013 21:50

Evening all

L2D8 done!

Managing okay, except I've totally given up on the pendulum lunges- it's not that it hurts as such, I just get the weirdest feeling in my left knee, like its going to go pop or something. My knees are pretty shot I must admit- they squelch when I use stairs Grin

FitByForty · 15/07/2013 23:37

That sounds like an interesting knee sound Noel Grin

Well my hen weekend was fab but back on it today. This is the point at which I normally give up. When I've had a little break and can't find the motivation to get going again. But I found it tonight and L1D5 is done. So feeling pretty happy with myself as I climb/fall into bed tonight.
Night all.

GrimmaTheNome · 16/07/2013 10:18

Well done FBF!

Day20, L2 done, and I watched the L3 while I ate brekkie afterwards.
Hmm... I can't do bloody jump rope and that's just in warm up! Shock
I might do JJs instead.

PessimisticMissPiggy · 16/07/2013 20:34

Oh my, I am getting behind! I've not done it since Wedsnesday last week! My excuse today is that it is 30 deg in my living room and my fan is in my DD's bedroom.

It's so stuffy. There is no breeze at all!

MrsBertMacklin · 16/07/2013 21:19

Come on MissPiggy, no excuses! Think of the extra fat burning benefits of doing it in this heat.

L1D9 done. There was a LOT of grunting and swearing this time and I looked like a sweaty beetroot by the end Grin. First session since starting, where I didn't need to stop at all for a 5-second rest, hurrah!

Unfortunately, the UPS delivery man called about a minute after I'd finished, god knows what he thought I'd been doing.

FitByForty · 16/07/2013 21:52

Disastrous attempt for me today.
Really didn't want to start. Have had a a hectic day at work then came home, sorted the kids, baked and decorated 40 buns for DS's pirate party at school tomorrow, made packed lunches and ironed fresh uniform for tomorrow.
Gave myself a good talking to and got started. But didn't finish Blush Got half way through and realised I just don't have it in me tonight.
And it's so bloody hot in here!!!

Anyway, have given myself another talking to and the plan is to set my alarm for 6 in the morning and get up before the kids and the heat and do it then. Well, that's the plan. Wish me luck!

GrimmaTheNome · 16/07/2013 21:52

If you could manage to do it first thing in the morning it's cooler then.

GrimmaTheNome · 16/07/2013 21:56

x-post - my last was in response to Miss Piggy but applies to you to FBF - I have to get my DD to her bus-stop by 7:30 so I do it after that, before breakfast and a quick shower. I know not everyone can fit it in in the morning but it feels good to have got it over with!

FitByForty · 16/07/2013 22:19

Thanks Grimma. I definitely going to give it a go. It can't be any harder than 9 at night when I have been doing it (surely!)

Illustrated · 17/07/2013 08:58

Hello everyone.
Day 6 for me, I've lost a quarter of a stone already which I'm happy about, although to me its more about how I look than how much I weigh.

I was in need of serious motivation yesterday so decided to mute Jillian and put my own workout music on. Seemed to make the whole thing a bit easier, I recommend it.

MrsBertMacklin · 17/07/2013 10:03

FitByForty, MissPiggy, have you Shredded yet this morning?

Doing mine once I've finished my first glass of water for the day. Very pleased to report that I weighed/measured myself this morning. I have lost an inch of my waist/hips in the last 2 weeks and 4 pounds in the last week Smile so all that sweat and toil is working.

GrimmaTheNome · 17/07/2013 10:03

Day 21, L3 and it wasn't that bad! Sure, I did the Anitas for some of the moves and had to put down the weights partway through the JJs but I enjoyed it more than the other levels in some ways.

Illustrated - well done! Good idea about the music, though I don't have any 'workout' music ... TBH I wish the audio options had an instructions only, no music option. I find if I'm doing one of the planky things I'm not looking at the screen so need the voice to tell me when to stop. I just have the volume really low.

GrimmaTheNome · 17/07/2013 10:05

Oh well done MrsBert too. I need 3 mugs of tea before I start (or one tea and a black coffee on fast days). I slosh a bit! Grin

MrsBertMacklin · 17/07/2013 10:11

Illustrated & Grimma I think once I have memorised the routines a bit more, I'll be switching to my own music, too. That said, I also wish there was an 'instructions only' soundtrack, as Jillian really helps keep me motivated & I now like talking along with her, e.g. 'punch it out', 'don't phone it in'.

Which is why I only put the DVD on when DP isn't in the house (that and the copious sweating and grunting) Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 17/07/2013 11:12

I was grunting too this morning. Hopefully not loud enough to be heard upstairs in the office where DH was on a work call!

MrsBertMacklin · 17/07/2013 12:14

Haven't seen IWillDoItInAMinute or NoelHeadbands check in, how are you getting on?

L1D10 done. Very tired by circuit 2 and didn't put as much effort in as I did yesterday, but done nonetheles, with no stops.

Rest day tomorrow, then Level 2. Fuck.

GrimmaTheNome · 17/07/2013 12:21

Hope they're hanging in. I know I've got an advantage over a lot of people because (a) I have to get up early (might go to pot next week when DD is on hol...) and (b) I work from home, but heck if I can do it at the age of 52 I'm sure you all can! Smile

IWillDoItInAMinute · 17/07/2013 23:22

Had to take yesterday as a rest day, level 2 is having a strange affect on my feet! They really hurt, have been trying bare feet/trainers. I was too hot in trainers.

Have been getting up at 6 to walk the pup, he isn't enjoying the weather. I hate to complain about the weather but at the moment it feels too hot to move

Well done MrsB, I haven't noticed any shrinkage yet Grin I should measure myself soon.

GrimmaTheNome · 17/07/2013 23:44

Getting up at 6 to walk the pup is noble - fortunately my dog doesn't really need a daily walk and we've got quite a few nice shady walks under trees so can do that later on.

My feet seem to have been ok barefoot - except some of the L3 moves today they were slipping a bit on the carpet.
