I became I follower of The Shred in June. My reasons are below. Share yours and let's shred together! I lost 5lbs my first week combining the DVD with WW.

I'm a size 16-18, 13st5lbs, 5'8", flabby, wobbly, unfit and desperate to shift the back fat that's making my new correctly sized bra lumpy.

I want my toddler to stop burying her face in my fat belly and blowing raspberries that make my boobs jiggle.

I want my DH to comment my nice arse again.

I want my double chin to melt away.

I want to walk up 5 flights of stairs without lactic acid burning my thighs and being out of breath.

I'm not going to stop until I'm size 12, under 11st and feel like I love my body again. I've hated my body for the last 13 years and I want to look in the mirror and feel good.

Shred is phase one. If I have to do all of Jillian's programmes then so be it.

I haven't shredded for a week. Don't look at me.

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool · 27/07/2013 09:25

L1D6 done. Definitely getting less argh!

Weird abs situation though. My muscles are toning faster than I'm losing fat so my previiusly saggy belly is now standing proud and I look even fatter than I did!

Somewhat dispiriting but I'm quite used to avoiding mirrors Wink

Taking a lot of solace from being able to do each exercise better with less groaning and resting.

NoelHeadbands · 27/07/2013 10:02

I have a pretty impressive set of abs underneath my belly flab too.

Ah MrsB. I was going to put a shout out for you, but decided against Grin

NoelHeadbands · 27/07/2013 10:04

Forgot to say, D28 just done. Now I'm off out to drink cocktails and carbs, guilt free

Have a good day all

IWillDoItInAMinute · 27/07/2013 11:38

L3D2 done

I really didn't feel it today, only did Anita's, didn't even look at Natalie. When it got to rock star jumps I felt like ramming the DVD up Jill's *

I think it's the shadow boxing with weights, it's making me very aggressive Grin

I hope there is some Ab action going on under the -thick- layer of fat.

Anyone following the shred diet plan? I'm not -or any other diet as too greedy-

Oh the shame MrsB, give me 10 military presses Grin. I had about a week off in the beginning due to back strain. I picked it up again and now I'm on -scary- level 3!!

Illustrated · 28/07/2013 16:02

Argh its going to take some serious motivation to do this today. I had a rest day yesterday and then went on the first real night out I've been on in 2 years. I feel like death warmed up...I'm going to have to do it aren't I.

IWillDoItInAMinute · 28/07/2013 16:59

Yes

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool · 28/07/2013 18:32

I took an impromptu rest day today as I was at a party last night and feel like death warmed up as a result. Back on the shred tomorrow though.

PessimisticMissPiggy · 28/07/2013 21:42

I'm back. Been feeling rough, rough, rough this week but tonight I'd been inspired by Fighting Fat on Living TV.

L3 here I come! Who's volunteering to start the August thread?

OP posts:
lifesgreatquestions · 28/07/2013 22:18

Just placing myself on this thread so I can fund you all August 1st, 30 day shred sounds terrifying but needs must. I don't own scales but with most of my wardrobe unavailable to me and my thighsrubbing horribly in this heat I have given in and bought the damn DVD. Can anyone tell me how long the workouts take? I'm wondering if I can so this in the morning as I think it will be better for me to just get it over with!

HellesBelles396IsDeeplyUncool · 28/07/2013 22:21

20 mins and it is a good option for a morning as it is intense and gets the heart pumping.

Inkspellme · 28/07/2013 23:02

Just ordered the DVD. I've lost a stone so far using the my fittness pal ap on my phone but I would like to lose another stone. More than the weight the idea of being fit is great. So hopefully this will have a thread for August as well?

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 08:51

Day 29 done! I had to get up early to take DH to the station, and I'd not slept well for a couple of nights so really didn't want to... but darned if I'm going to let Noel get to day 30 ahead of me Wink. And of course I do feel better for it.

Welcome back MissP, glad you're feeling up to starting again. And hello to those of you getting geared up for August. Yes, it really is just 20 mins (plus shower time), and I find doing it first thing much the best if you can fit it into your day. I found the dreaded thigh rub got better really quickly - L1 works your upper legs hard!

I'm a bit disappointed that I still can't do push-ups but.... I had a go at windsurfing on Saturday for the first time this year, and could use the size sail I'd got up to last year and found it easier to lift - its still only a little one, way smaller than what my DD who does it every week is on now! but still, I'm really pleased by that.

And yesterday, wearing my walking trousers for the first time since the hot weather started, DH asked if they were different ones as they used to look tight on my bum but now looked quite loose! Grin

NoelHeadbands · 29/07/2013 10:05

Haha Grimma there was no way I was going to get ahead of you this weekend Grin. I did manage to do D28 on Saturday morning, but yesterday was well and truly REST DAY!

Will be doing my Day 29 this evening

WHERE ARE YOU SIX PACK?!

lifesgreatquestions · 29/07/2013 11:23

20 minutes sounds very doable, it's probably 30 minutes by the time I get dressed and get the tv working.

I just realised though that I opted for free delivery of the DVD so I'm looking at August 2-5th before I can start.

This is a massive decision for me. The weight I've gained is over the course of two pgs/mc's over the last 18 months. I was going to stay big so I could hide another pg until I felt safe about it's survival, but it's been 8 months now since my last pg and my self esteem about my body is at an all time low. I'm really hoping to be in a better place after this.

My diet is reasonable, not too much crap but could be better, i.e. by going wheat free, etc., anyone felt the benefits of the 30 day shred without dieting as well? (please lots of people say yes!)

NoelHeadbands · 29/07/2013 11:43

Hi lifes and welcome. Sorry to hear of your m/c's, you sound like you've had a really tough time of it.

I follow a low carb way of eating myself, since starting the Shred I've lost about 4lbs which doesn't sound much, but I've definitely built muscle mass as well. My clothes fit better now!

Headred · 29/07/2013 12:19

Hi

After sitting on the shelf for 8 months this morning I finally started the 30 day shred. I actually found it quite difficult. I only had tins for arm weights Blush do I need to go out and buy proper weights and if so what weight do ypu suggest?

Thank you

iWillDoItInAMinute · 29/07/2013 13:43

Not shredded yet as its all rain and storms here, can't even banish the DC to the garden.

Welcome new people!!! 2lb weights are good (unless you are a badass like Grimma)

Welcome back MissP glad you're feeling better Smile Did you notice how everyone is avoiding your question re August thread? I'm not very good at threads and links etc -and too lazy to try-, if someone else wants to start it, I'll maintain it -yes I'm looking at you Noel and Grimma-

I think I'm going to start again when L3 is done -if I survive it- we've decided to go away in August, lots of swimming, I need my thighs to shrink before then [hopeful emoticon]

Oh the bloody weather Sad

iWillDoItInAMinute · 29/07/2013 13:54

Oh and re diets and weight loss.

I haven't been following a diet plan, just shredding. I have lost a few pounds but I'm more excited about the inches, my waist/hips/bum are definitely smaller. Yay!!!

When L3 is complete I'm going to take my measurements and see if another go will continue the shrinkage.

But my thighs, they seem to be resisting everything!!!

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 14:32

I have never in all my 52 years been called a badass before.

ThanksGrin

Probably ideally you'd get a set of weights starting at about 1kg/2lb and going up - the 5lbs are too much for some of the moves for me but just right for others. I'm sure its best to start at the lower end so you're doing the moves with good form.

Headred · 29/07/2013 15:06

My tin of lentils felt too much to be honest Smile. Thanks for your advise I will pick some up

NoelHeadbands · 29/07/2013 15:25

2lbers I use, no intention of moving up anytime soon Blush Grin

Okay, if no one else has already done it, I'll start an August thread for Thu Smile

iWillDoItInAMinute · 29/07/2013 16:05

"I borrowed one of DHs ten-pounders for the 'dumbbell clean' today "

Need I say more ?? Grin

Cheers Noel, probably not going to make it without you lot!!

iWillDoItInAMinute · 29/07/2013 22:05

L3D3 done and now I'm eating chocolate Blush

Noel and Grimma I hope your abs appear after tomorrow Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 29/07/2013 22:43

Noel and Grimma I hope your abs appear after tomorrow

That would be nice, but I can feel that I've actually got some now, so don't mind if they're a bit shy about making an appearance!Grin
