Going to be getting out of my pit tomorrow for w4r1 and had scrolled through all this weekends updates til 5 MINUTES jumped out at me. What's all that about?!?!?

Actually don't tell me - I'll let the lovely Laura shock my system at stupid o'clock tomorrow - once I'm out the gate, there's no point going back in. Until then LALALALALA......

nextphase · 23/06/2013 22:14

Watching out w4r1 just done this evening. It honestly sounds much worse than it was in reality (tho I did change to a flatish route - didn't fancy mud and longer runs!).
I think I actually found this one easier than w1r1 - the program really does seem to have worked thus far.
Honestly, trust her! Enjoy tomorrow.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2013 22:36

Well done dementedma and everyone who's been running.

You have to do what you feel comfortable with CiderwithBudda but I think you should try. I wish I was Nike I'd be considerably richer Wink

I didn't run all weekend :( :( :( hopefully go tomorrow if meeting finishes before midnight!

watchingout · 24/06/2013 07:55

Amigababy and nextphase ( and all other w4's) - on Wednesday, we will be half way through!

Bye bye couch

TwasBrillig · 24/06/2013 08:30

Wow well done, watching!! I'm about to start wk 3 and can't imagine 3 minutes! I'm very overweight so do wonder if I'll plateau soon!

queenjellybelly · 24/06/2013 08:36

Just finished w2 this morning & I was pathetic Hmm. For the first time since starting the programme I walked one on the runs. Have a weeney bit of a sore throat & was finding my throat was actually starting to close up when I was running. Feel like I'm just making excuses for myself. If I'd pushed a bit harder i know I could have done it. Just feel crap. Will need to repeat todays run now.

BIWI · 24/06/2013 08:50

If you're poorly, and it's affecting your running, then you're poorly! Don't feel that you need to make any excuses.

Personally, after you've had your rest day, I would just move on to week 3 - but make sure you're not still poorly. If you are, just rest for another day or until you feel better.

travellingwilbury · 24/06/2013 09:39

Well I tried Wk 6 and I just couldn't do it , I managed two five min runs but I had to brisk walk the rest .
I think the three weeks off was just too much .

I am determined to complete it but I think I need to go back a couple if weeks , maybe Wk 4 ?

It looks like I will have a lot of company doing Wk 4 as well .

Bakingnovice · 24/06/2013 09:42

Watching - well done. I start wk3 tmrw and I'm treacly excited and scared. I'm itching to do it today but I'm forcing myself to have rest days. This is pathetic but when I'm running I imagine I'm doing the London marathon and the crowds are cheering me on (helps time go faster) - my long long time ambition is to run that marathon.

Good luck to everyone running this week.

PeppermintPasty · 24/06/2013 09:48

Hello, can I pop in? I've just completed week one and start week two tonight. I used to love running, but had a serious foot injury back in 2004, then 2 children later etc etc, no time no willpower.

Finding it ok so far but it's only been a week. For those of you who are further on, what's been your most challenging week? I'm dreading hitting some kind of wall and ditching the whole thing.

CiderwithBuda · 24/06/2013 09:54

Run done. I did repeat week 2. But did some research on breathing last night. I have been breathing in through my nose and out through my mouth which wasn't working. Breathed in through my mouth this morning and it was definitely better.

I had wine last night - not too much but woke in the night and remembered wine might not help me run this morning. Went back to sleep and had the weirdest dream about wanting to go for a run and everything and anything conspiring to stop me and I was getting more and more frustrated! Woke up with a start when the alarm went off relieved that it was still Monday and I could go for my run.

Travelling - I think I would try week 4 on Wednesday and see how it goes. If you manage it move on to week five next run. If its difficult stick at it next run.

Well done watching!

CiderwithBuda · 24/06/2013 09:58

Welcome Peppermint. I'm trying not to think too far ahead tbh. I know what you mean about hitting a wall but I think the beauty of this programme is that it's gradual progress and you can adjust it to suit you. I wasn't ready to move on to week 3 today so just repeated week 2. Even with all the nagging up thread! Smile. On Wednesday I will see how I feel - I might try week 3 but might stick at week 2 and concentrate on my breathing again.

So try not to worry about hitting a wall at this stage. Just concentrate on doing each run and progressing with the programme.

travellingwilbury · 24/06/2013 10:04

Thanks cider , I am off work tomorrow so will give Wk 4 a go then . I was really enjoying it before i broke my stupid toe so I don't want to put myself off by making things too difficult .

Good news is the toe was ok , was the rest of me that was knackered ;)

PeppermintPasty · 24/06/2013 10:18

Thanks for the welcome Cider. Ha, yes, maybe week one is slightly too early to start worrying Grin

eminemmerdale · 24/06/2013 10:40

Am a week 4 too! of course, it is half way - blimey

BIWI · 24/06/2013 12:02

Just finished Week 3/Run 3. Arrived at the park only to realise I'd forgotten my ear phones, so had to run without music, and had to hold my phone in my hand so that I could see the minutes/runs counted down!

It wasn't too bad - but I don't think I'd like to do a longer run without the distraction of music.

scarecrow22 · 24/06/2013 13:38

bf the boy at 6 with a cup of tea, handed him to dh for winding change etc, pulled on kit and hit the road. W1r2 done. morning definitely the way for me as up at 6 anyway and no matter how tired I think.I am I'll be mote tired by 8 pm! so glad I went.

I have an HTC and haven't been.able to download orig yet so timing myself for 5 min walk, 8x 60s run and 90s walk and another 5m.walk at end. Is it the same for all week 1 or should I change for run3?
Has anybody else managed.to get it onto an HTC?

sorry for updating each run - the illusion somebody will notice if I slack.off part of the motivation!

gingerpinz · 24/06/2013 14:50

scarecrow I have an HTC and use the rundouble app which is free for the first couple of weeks and then less than £1 to buy the rest of the programme.

Well done for getting up and out first thing!

PeppermintPasty · 24/06/2013 15:54

Oh, I've just remembered-I've got an iphone with the app on. How do I play music stored on my iphone whilst running? Can I even do that?

At the bottom of the screen it highlights my stored music but when I clicked on it the first time I started the app, it paused my workout.

Any ideas?

watchingout · 24/06/2013 16:01

We will notice scarecrow - no slacking allowed Wink

For the first four weeks, all the runs are the same throughout the week. I think they start to vary at week 5 but I scared myself reading too far ahead last night. You're fine for the rest of your week, doing what you are doing. Can you get podcasts on your HTC? Laura on the nhs podcat is the biz.... I found myself mentally pleading with her this morning "tell me I'm halfway"

nextphase · 24/06/2013 17:56

WEEK 4-ers Amigia, emin, watching and any one else.
Are we really half way through? I'd convinced myself that was next week - 27 runs to the end of the program so need to get to 14 runs to be over half way - isn't that next week???

Anyway, Laura told me yesterday that I now run more than I walk, and that sounds like a good half way marker whatever the half way point of the program is!

Its astounding how much I've improved, and how I've managed to stick with it!

eminemmerdale · 24/06/2013 18:11

It's completely astounded me! I really want to go tonight but know I have to have a 'day off'. I cycle 16 miles a week to work and back too which is a breeze now! And rejoining the gym in July so will be abck to swimming..now, if could just crack my five a day smoking habit - ridiculous I know!
