Massive good luck Pom Pom waving at dementedma

Bakingnovice · 23/06/2013 08:21

Good luck demented!

Drama - hope all is well when you get the results of your biopsy.

Cinnamon - poor you being bitten!

Good luck to everyone today. I'm going to do w2r3. Was itching to do it yesterday but needed a rest day.

pennygallops · 23/06/2013 08:22

Yeah - I've woken up without knee pain (and I've finished my reports), even after running yesterday. Double yeah! But I'm not going to be doing the 7 parkruns that are planned today in my local area. Think it's a national parkrun thing to celebrate the summer solstice. Maybe next year!

Swimming later to build up those muscles that running doesn't - apparently cross-training is good for runner's knee.

Happy running everyone!

gingerpinz · 23/06/2013 08:58

Good luck dementedma!

BIWI · 23/06/2013 09:02

That's good news, penny!

Bakingtins · 23/06/2013 09:05

Good luck dementedma you're an inspiration to those of us just starting out.

Trazzletoes · 23/06/2013 09:14

Good luck demented

I managed w2r1 last night. It was harder than I thought it would be but not so hard I can't imagine running it again. So hoping tomorrow will be easier!

Dingle · 23/06/2013 12:36

Good luck demented and to all of you out running today! x

I have been very naughty, I will blame DH as it was his birthday on Thursday and he took a few days off, all we have done is eat, eat...and drink!Blush I was so much over my MFP calories intake yesterday I did a very brisk 15 min walk on the treadmill to try to compensate.....BUT...

I really felt it in my legs this morning doing W2R2! Hmm I may have felt it regardless of the extra exercise yesterday but I really need to get a few alternative plans in place for those days in between my runs.

Still, I upped my pace a little and managed to cover 2.3 miles.

Got to download Week 3 for Tuesday!!! EEK.

Dingle · 23/06/2013 12:37

ooops, that should have been W2R3!

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2013 12:58

Good luck today dementedma. I hope it goes well.

I was contemplating running today and generally running every second day rather than Mon/Wed/Fri as I planned but figure that actually the two day break at the weekend is probably good for me at this stage. So I will be repeating week 2 from tomorrow. No way am I ready to run for 3 mins yet! 90 secs is quite enough!

cinnamongreyhound · 23/06/2013 13:57

You'll be great dementedma!!

Glad you're not in pain pennygallops :)

Well done Trazzletoes and Dingle!

I think you should try week three Ciderwithbuda, you may surprise yourself. The plan really works so I you completed week 2 you can do week 3, don't think about the time just do it Grin

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2013 14:29

Justdoit she says! Who do you think you are? Nike? Grin. I would surprise myself! I'd shock myself I think!

You have me all confused now. I'm asthmatic so struggle a bit with my breathing anyway and am over 14 stone and am old (49) so was planning on easing my poor old body into it gently. I am desperate to get to the end of the 90 sec runs so really can't see me lasting 3 mins.

dementedma · 23/06/2013 16:25

cider slow your pace right down to the slowest jog possible. You feel a bit silly at first but the speed will pick up as you get fitter.
This asthmatic 49 year old ran the Race for Life today in 40 minutes, after following the C25k plan.Grin

eminemmerdale · 23/06/2013 17:42

Good lord - I've just done w4 r1!! I only stopped once and that was 4.40 into the first five minutes. I can't quite believe that about a month ago I was huffing and puffing at running 60 secs Grin

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2013 17:45

Well done you!!!!

My jogging is pretty slow I can assure you! Grin

I have been following Laura's tip for breathing in for 4 and out for 4 but it doesn't help. Need to research I think.

CiderwithBuda · 23/06/2013 17:45

And we'll done eminemmerdale!

travellingwilbury · 23/06/2013 17:59

Hello all , i am back after my broken toe nonsense .

I went to the gym today and did a bit but bloody Hell I noticed a difference from not doing anything for three weeks .

Before i broke my toe I had managed to do the 20 min run ( Wk 5 I think ) does anyone have any advice on where I should start from ? No way would I manage 20 mins now .

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 23/06/2013 18:10

Well done dementedma. My parkrun was 42 mins so I'm still right behind you!

I hope you are feeling suitably proud of yourself.

BIWI · 23/06/2013 18:14

Well done, demented! How did you find it?

nextphase · 23/06/2013 18:17

Cider Laura's breathing tip doesn't work for me - it makes me feel queasy. Can you really breath in for 4 left feet falls? It makes me worse. I've ended up with each in/out being 3 foot falls (LRL or RLR). I've also ended up taking a massive breath in just before starting jogging. Tho if the dark grey cloud doesn't come back this evening, I'll be starting week 4, so that might all change when I have to do 5 whole mins!

Those of you suggesting repeating a week - what about one more try at the week your on, and then moving forward?? I've read somewhere "trust the program" and although only 1/3 of the way through, it really does seem to build up at the right pace.

Thistledew · 23/06/2013 18:23

Hello travelling - if I were you I would just try to pick up where you left off. I have had two 6 week breaks from the program - the first in wk 3 and the second after I had got up to 25 mins runs. I told myself that I would just try the next run in sequence and go back if I struggled, but I was quite surprised to find I was ok on both occasions. I think a lot of it is psychological anyway. Obviously, if your foot hurts, then do stop.

Anyway- doesn't your program go back to intervals after your first 20 min run? Mine did.

dementedma · 23/06/2013 18:30

biwi it was OK really, apart from the last half k which was uphill to the finish line, so pretty tough.

travellingwilbury · 23/06/2013 18:32

Thanks thistle , yes it does go to intervals next but ......

Oh bugger do you really think I have no excuse to go back , I will give week six a go then and if it kills me then I will know who to blame ;)

BIWI · 23/06/2013 19:27

An uphill finish?! That's a bit mean!
