Will post the race list later on computer.
Come one, come all. We are a band of maverick posters who run, talk about running, and talk about other stuff, mostly life, large pants, and questionable children's artwork. Come and join us if you dare! Disclaimer: we are actually the friendliest thread on MN. Fact.

Met accosted DH in a club. Got in car with him. He felt my arse. The rest is history.

I'll be back on tomorrow catching up on race reports but well done everyone!!

peachsmuggler · 08/01/2012 22:19

Good work ibby, that sounds tough!

AlmaMartyr · 08/01/2012 22:26

Sticky and Running - I was at Robinson 2002 - 2005, DH was at Sidney Sussex at the same time :)

We met through school. I had a 17th joint birthday party with some friends at Christmas, we invited all the boys we knew and did a Secret Santa. Someone had put joke handcuffs in the Secret Santa, DH pulled them out and a friend handcuffed us together. Started going out a few weeks later, been together ever since :) Some lovely stories here!

Well done on all the racing everyone! A friend of mine did the First Chance today as well and got a PB.

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/01/2012 23:06

alma have you taken the handcuffs off yet? Wink

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 09/01/2012 07:53

Enjoying the race reports.

I have not run this weekend due to colds, tummy bugs etc but should be back to running club tonight after the festive break. Considering a swim this morning (if only so I can log it on fitocracy and get points!).

I met DH in a sweaty nightclub above an Irish bar in Aberdeen in January 2000. My friend was out on the pull and saw him and his friend - she asked which on I wanted Blush. I said I definitely didn't want the short one and here I am married with 2 kids by the tall one 12 years later.

sfxmum · 09/01/2012 08:56

ibby excellent effort I find laps harder than say a big loop, somehow if feeling tired it starts resembling the circles of hell

Loving the stories of assorted shacking up processes Grin

chief hope you feel healthy and strong soon

orangeLFDThead · 09/01/2012 09:44

Planning to go for a run in a bit not sure if to go to gym (boring) or try outside but risk the cold making me cough again. I was all set to go out but even taking the kids to school this morning set me off. But I really don't want to go on the treadmill.

Superspudable · 09/01/2012 09:45

Hello! Please can I join too?

I finished C25K in Sept last year and am very very very close to the magic 10k - did 8.5k last week and am sure I have it in me! Need to enter a 10K (did a 5K - like R4L in Oct) but don't have the confidence to do it before I know it is really achievable...

Hope I can keep up with the thread, moves faster than me!!
Living abroad in a wonderful place - wonder if you can guess where?? Just opposite a big park with a big landmark tower in it... v busy with runners yesterday! Bit of a hazard when I was running there yesterday with DS1 following along on his bike! Have 2 DSs - 4 and 5 and both a bag of energy!

Met DH at uni 93-97. Married 2000.

All this talk of running knickers too makes me want to confess that I don't wear any, I wear tights/running capris with a built in gusset! Am I alone?!
Look forward to joining in, getting lots of tips and motivation and one day graduating to a secret group too!

N4NNY · 09/01/2012 10:03

super finally someone else who run kickerless I was beginning to think I'm strange. Welcome to the mad house everyone is really helpful and full of advice on everything not just running :)

orangeLFDThead · 09/01/2012 10:06

Welcome super, sounds like you are doing really well but I just don't get the knickerless thing do your pants not rub?

cestlavie · 09/01/2012 10:23

Good race ibby - x cross country always tough at this time of year.

Sounds like there's a few lawyers and people who were uni at the same time on this thread! Ditto me as well, law at Nottingham Uni, 92 - 96 (though not a lawyer now). Met DW in 1994, both hammered at a Cock Soc* social though to be fair we shared a couple of tutor groups. Actually think we were probably drunk for most of our first two years together! This may account for why DD suggested 'the pub' as a family activity yesterday afternoon [parent shame emoticon].

*Yup, somewhat juvenile moniker of the Cocktail Society which rather than being a classy black-tie martini drinking event was a society which hired out cheap nightclubs and sold dustbins of moonshine at 50p per cup....

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 09/01/2012 10:36

cest love the CockSoc! But beware fanny hearing about it, she'll be off on her Cockwatch again ......

Don't worry about the pub thing, first day I picked up ds2 from school his TA handed him over and he said "hi mum are we going to the pub now?" criiiiinge ...... I have no idea why, we don't usually hang round pubs after school!

cestlavie · 09/01/2012 10:45

Yeah yeah shredme - and it's just coincidence that your DS2 thinks the 'Dog and Duck' is an after school club Wink. Ran 6 miles into St Albans this morning - traffic was absolutely shocking - you must have had a miserable journey back from school. Wasn't going that fast (7.55m/m) but still managed to cover more distance than half the cars on the road!

Was also hampered by having to take a client call at about mile 5.... not ideal! (Had tried to ignore them but after the third missed call in three minutes did feel I should probably take it)

Superspudable · 09/01/2012 10:50

Think I'd be more likely to rub if I wore knickers! My running pants are quite tight fitting though - can't imagine the VPL if I did try running with!

What does everyone's weekly running schedule look like? I am in a running group and tend to do one run a week with them, usually Tues evenings and sometimes run with another girl from there who works really close by one lunch time - so both normally 5-6k. Also doing one long (LSR I suppose) one once a week and sometimes hills but that is a new addition for me! Am trying not to slow too much on my long run or I will end up walking! Did my 8.5k at 6.45/km.

My DSs love to eat out. Think DS2's first word read out loud recently was "B-A-R = Bar, let's go for a drink there mummy". On Saturday, I asked them what they wanted to do, cue "Shall we eat out for dinner mummy, it IS the weekend?" Oh dear....

Superspudable · 09/01/2012 10:52

Oh and just did Level 2 shred for the first time - holy mo those plant things are mental, can't ever see me doing them natalie-style!!

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 09/01/2012 11:10

Hi Superspudable - Yes. I did briefly consider doing the shred this morning but decided on a swim instead. Level 2 is a killer isn't it? I have not tried level 3 yet but am told it is not so bad.

I swam 850m this am in 25 mins - I am feeling really swim-unfit as I usually can manage a lot longer before I get bored and tired. On the plus side it means I have completed 3 fitocracy quests and am now level 5 Grin. I know this means nothing to most of you but I am a sucker for games.

I have running club tonight where I usually do 5-6 miles fairly fast tempo pace, I also do one longer run (currently 6-7 miles) and 2-3 1hr runs during the week. Not doing any speed work at the moment - all my non-club runs are using HRM and keeping below 147.

DD asked if we could have a "chinese" as a reward for her being star of the week. I was thinking more along the lines of a cbeebies comic Blush.

N4NNY · 09/01/2012 12:59

I've borrowed the biggest looser challenge wii disc from a friend and just used it for the first time. Wow it def got my heart rate going I'm going to try and do it every day in addition to my running to try and improve my fitness a little. I've got a bit lazy since I lost my job so even though I'm trying not to eat loads I seem to be putting on weight :( and gettin less toned. Got a month to sort it before I'm measured for a bridesmaids dress

Wheelybug · 09/01/2012 13:38

Lol at cocsoc a aren't university stooodents hilarious Grin

welcome super - glad someone pantless has come along to keep N4NNY company.

For those who I haven't already bored on Facebook, I went out for 12 miles this morning and sprained my ankle (again) at about 4 miles. 2 buses to get home ..... V cross. Puts brighton half in jeopardy.

Wheelybug · 09/01/2012 13:38

Any news on the job front N4NNY ?

cestlavie · 09/01/2012 13:40

Oh bollocks, sorry to hear that wheely, how frustrating! When is the half and how does your ankle feel?

Wheelybug · 09/01/2012 13:54

5 weeks yesterday cest. I don't think
It feels as bad as last time but not sure
If that's a) wishful thinking or b) the painkillers talking. Garmin stats tell me I didn't run for 2 weeks last time and did 11.2 miles 6 weeks after.

I can stand on one leg on the effected ankle which I couldn't do for a while last time.

Am trying to keep perspective on the matter but it's frustrating - second
Time in 2 race preparations.

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/01/2012 14:18

ah wheely that sounds miserable :( Bummer. I've not been to FB yet so I'll have a look see what's gone on.

I did my 18 miles! Felt a lot better than last week (yes I know you said it would fanny!) tho about the same pace (11:02). I don't know, is it Smile Day in Co Durham, but everyone seemed super chuffed to see me! One old boy said "gwan me dear, I wish I could do that"! Bless, it's as good as having people cheer you on at a race. :)

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/01/2012 14:21

hi super! I've been very bad with the Shred since Christmas. Think I'll be put back in Level One, especially now I've got some new hand weights which are twice the weight I was using before.

peachsmuggler · 09/01/2012 14:32

Cocs in socs and fox on box.

How's the ankle feeling now wheely, did you manage to drive? Hope it's not as bad as last time Sad

sticky, love the folk smiling you on today! Well done on 18 miles, I can't quite imagine how you do it!!!

Welcome pantless superspud! you've done 8.5, of course you can do 10! Go on, enter a race!!!

Lol at cest, outrunning cars!

peachsmuggler · 09/01/2012 14:33

N4NNY, I've got the biggest loser DVD, it's really good for strength and toning. Good luck!
