Yes Rattle and Hum was what I was thinking about. I still liked the music still have all the early albums on vinyl somewhere gathering dust.

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 19:03

I watched their performance at Glasto on telly I hasten to add, and loved the old songs, told a friend it was nice to see them reminds me that once they were not shit, she said it is her husbands favourite band particularly since One and they do great humanitarian work, just like Coldplay her favourite band (tongue bled)
yes I am a bad personGrin

DebiTheScot · 24/11/2011 19:30

sfx I was wondering what kind of wedding lasts 6 months then I realised you meant the marriage. That's very sad.

possum is younger than me Sad

monkeyLFDTwench · 24/11/2011 19:37

sfx that told you!

We went to a wedding some years ago (schoolfriend of the bride), very fancy but the bride's family clearly loathed the groom and left early. The marriage lasted less than three months. Imagine my surprise to see the groom pop up earlier this year as a contestant on Come Dine With Me!

DH has friends who have married each other twice - married, divorced, remarried Grin.

fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 19:54

Hahahahaha was it fuck a meringue!!! It was a Jasper Conran couture wedding dress! Wash your mouths out with sugared almonds!

should probably just say that Bono and his unfortunate arse are something of a joke in his native country...plus the fact that everyone went right off him because he refuses to pay tax here.

fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 20:18

There's something about Bono that's a bit Judas like. Can't put my finger on it.

DrNo has murdered her DH hasn't she? Hope she hasn't strangled him with the Aldi headband I've sent.

Must add that I'm aching like a Virgin on her wedding night. The shred has done me in more than Conwy Cockwatch did.

rhetorician · 24/11/2011 20:29

fanny you crack me up, you really do (need it after putting DD to bed, lots of wailing and then her coming downstairs and wolfing most of my lush cauliflower cheese)

I'd like you all to know that in just over a fortnight, I have taken a whole minute off my easy pace - at the same heartrate. If I can take off another minute I will be pretty happy with my easy pace and can then start building in faster running....

fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 20:31

Grin glad I amuse someone rhet! DH goes all HmmHmmConfusedConfusedConfused when I start. Hey that's bloody ace that is, it's my influence innit...?!GrinWink. How's DP? I'm being mega strict this week as DH away until Sunday, I've not heard a peep tonight.

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 20:32

Ace pace I meant, not me making you laugh being ace Confused

Jezabelle · 24/11/2011 20:35

I buggered up my hip. It really hurt after my 4 mile Monday run. Angry I have taken my big bro's advice, (19 marathons under his belt). I'm going to rest it until Sunday and then do the 10k and just take it easy. Might go and see a physio in the new year.

rhetorician · 24/11/2011 20:44

jezabelle I think your brother's advice is good - hope it feels better soon

fanny we were skyping rellies in the US and then broke off for dinner, and she was too excited about seeing their dog that she didn't eat much dinner - so she was actually hungry...after she scoffed some food she went straight to bed without a peep -

fanny well it is your influence partly, and partly patience. But it makes me enjoy my running more and can't wait to get out there (mostly)

DP and I wondering whether DD2 will be best served by a gift of lifetime waxing (she had hairy shoulders when she was born and the thickest head of black hair), or whether she will be a baldy...

futurity · 24/11/2011 21:17

Checking in with my running club stats from tonight...3.95 miles at an average of 9.54 pace. I am always amazed when I find that I am not dying when doing 9min something pace...not so long ago that I struggled around 10min 30 Smile

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/11/2011 21:19

Perhaps we shall have to mount a Free Deirdre Rashid style campaign.

Rhet, good going my anally retentive stats friend! Grin, imagine where you're gonna be this tome next year! Having just run the Dublin Marathon methinks!

Sorry bout the injury Jez, that sucks. Listen to Bro.

Right, am confused Rhet, who was born covered in hair? DD1, or...DP??? Looks like Kate might be a ginge!!! Hair does look kind of red in sunlight and DP's mum has red hair! Other than that she is the spit of DD1 at this age.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 24/11/2011 21:25

Hi, all very interesting hearing of all your wedding stories/dress choices. sfx I hope our marriage lasts longer than 6 months!

Still undecided over red or ivory dress. Advanatages of red - it's cheaper and also will be more wearable at other weddings/smart dos etc. The ivory is the same dress but more expensive I guess in that colour as most weddingy things are. I suppose I could dye it afterwards if I wanted to wear it again.

on the one hand, I am quite anti traditional which makes me go for the red. On the other hand, when I tried on the ivory with a lovely birdcage veil, it was pretty much what I had imagined in my head for my wedding dress ... I think although I am not necessarily shy, I am quite reserved, and look down upon myself, and I feel like I don't deserve to have such a lovely dress and for people to spend time and effort (and I guess money too) in coming to our wedding. I don't know where I'm going with this sorry

rhetorician · 24/11/2011 21:27

DD1 was a little hairy gorilla! she actually has quite hairy legs for a 2 year old, poor love; sure this one will be dark too. Hope so, really, as the name we have in mind is a dark-haired girl's name, I think

peach well at current easy pace it will take me about 5 hours to run a marathon...

fanny and I are busy being left-wing on another thread...up the revolution!

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 24/11/2011 21:30

p.s. and more importantly, went to running club tonight, which was very good. 5.34 miles in 10.30 minute miles. It was quite nice to be at the front of the group without too much effort, and for the last 1.5 miles or so we had a mini breakaway group doing under 10 min miles.

monkey, if I have remembered rightly where you live, we ran up your road! You might have heard a lot of panting/grunting/yelling things like "bin"! "pothole"! "post"!. I was keeping my eyes peeled for houses with a shredding couple and a man in loose boxers, but sadly nothing.

One of the other groups going out was planning on 6 miles at 9.30 minute pace, so I should aim to get up to that.

Oh and grr at DP when I got back, was telling him how good the run was, and he was smug and condenscending when I said I was running at the front of the group/in a breakaway group. He's a lovely lovely man, but I think his degree must have been in fascetiouness Angry, and I think he forgets from his lofty ironman marathon perch what is a good run for me!

fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 21:34

jez sorry about your hip. Sad. As with any running injury, rest is a must. Hope it's better soon.

peach. I have a little admission re ginger kids (it's ok, I've had two). During my pregnancy I was reading bitching about twats in the Hello magazine. There was a women from Vets in Practice called Trude who had the most unfortunate looking baby Blush with bright red hair. I said to my mum "Jaysus, imagine your kid looking like that, you'd swap it in the hospital!" Shock. Fast forward 4 months. DD1's head is crowning and my mum's at the birth and right where the action is. First thought of my mum's is "OH bloody Nora, this kids ginger, she's gonna go berserk!" Grin. I was in denial for 3 months that DD1 had red hair. My friend still pisses herself laughing about how I permanently kept a hat on the poor kid. I am thoroughly ashamed. I have paid the price for my ginger bigotry and had two ginger kids. (well not quite ginger but defo red heads). My mum still laughs about it.

rhet bored of that thread already. I don't care much for politics anymore because it's fucked up.

OP posts:
monkeyLFDTwench · 24/11/2011 21:37

cherry I absolutely get what you mean, in some ways getting married was my worst nightmare - being the centre of attention, not my thing at all. It was the reason we had a small wedding, I wanted to be married but wasn't fussed by the whole wedding fandango. But it's your wedding and you must have what you want and what will make you happy on the day and will feel comfortable in

Rhet oh do tell, like a bit of revolting myself ....

backwardLFDTpossom · 24/11/2011 21:37

Closing date for application is in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping I know for definite by Christmas! I'm so excited, but also terrified of not actually getting it! Thanks for the support, all - love this thread x

fanny you're so fucking funny. I would love to go out on the piss with you!

rhet get you ramping up the speeds! You're going to smash your 2012 goals before 2012 even starts!

Running club was fab tonight. Some great speedwork - did a km in 4:45 at one point which is a massive improvement on this time last year! Grin

sfxmum · 24/11/2011 21:38

Jez sorry about the injury

cherry I am sure it will sorry, that one comes to mind as an exception and because it is a close relative
go with what you really want, pointless otherwise

fanny I never quite get the ginger thing in this country, dh has some ginger tendencies as does dd , I would have liked a full on red head on her if it happened that way, I think it is pretty

fannybanjo · 24/11/2011 21:39

Can I just add in my own defence after GingerGate... I am a lovely person in real
life. Honest to God, I am. (is that blasphemy, lying on God's name..?)

Sorry cherry x post - no shred for us tonight! Trust me, the curtains are tightly drawn for that one!
