Great news on the interview sticky

Sad Moshi, how does it feel tonight?

DrNo, your photos are great! Looks dreich though!!! Bless your DS, what a sweetie!

monkey, glad you survived the appointment!

Got MIL here now and DD1 beside herself, which is lovely. Must wake Kaye now and try to get her to stay awake for feed! Midwife came today and she has only lost 5% of birthweight so that's good news, she must be drinking enough!! Got to take her for her hearing test on Thursday so will be first trip out! Very exciting!

Ooooh, Rhet is quiet, wonder if anything exciting happening!!!

futurity · 22/11/2011 19:01

Thanks wheely ...I shall look out for it.

MoshiMoshi · 22/11/2011 19:12

Ankle is a bit fat - thanks for asking. I have a cankle. Shock But it has been worse and I think I can go on the G Trainer for a bit and it will be fine. I think running on the dodgy toe destabilised me and caused me to wobble on it today when I was running with the dog. That'll learn me. Sad

bonkersLFDT20 · 22/11/2011 19:29

Garmin 205 help.

Got the "device" - used it for the first time today...huzzah!

I've got a Garmin Connect Account. I've downloaded and installed the Garmin communicator plugin (and tested it), but when I go to upload, none of my activities are detected. I can see my run on the watch still.

What am I doing wrong?

Sorry for the me, me, but I'm sulking like a child with a broken toy as I want it to work NOW!!!!

It's recognised the device (205 and ref. number)

Thanks.

rhetorician · 22/11/2011 19:37

hmm, bonkers not sure - did you plug it directly into your computer's USB? and then you click 'upload' and you should see it under the 'activities' tab...

fannybanjo · 22/11/2011 19:52

DrNo and Wheely I've PM'd you both, don't be worrying about the money, seems daft. I will post them tomorrow then you can both be Fannies! Grin DrNo oh your link doesn't work!

bonkers mine sometimes takes a few goes, keep trying. How did you find training with it?

sticky I've had the email re GNR and priority place. I am not sure now, I have to say for what they want monetary wise and the cost of me getting up there, I'm not sure it's worth it just to run down a dual carriageway. It actually is my least favourite half to run, yes the atmosphere brilliant but not sure whether I can afford £88 right now just to guarantee a place in the GNR. It's a long way off isn't it? I may just leave it and hedge my bets with the ballot, what will be with be. I may decide to do a Marathon in early October so won't really want the GNR right bang before it either. Can't believe now I have the option, I am not sure!! Hmm Oh I don't know what to do! I will regret it won't I if I don't do it again...

fannybanjo · 22/11/2011 19:59

DrNo found you as I now have your name... Grin You look great, tell you what love, a damn sight better than I do on those official photos. You look like you are bloody going for it. Luckily there isn't one of me from Conwy

Moshi sorry to hear about your ankle, are you icing it? Don't do too much rubbing though, only make it worse Wink

OP posts:
rhetorician · 22/11/2011 20:01

peach calm down dear. Nowt happening...poor DP can't say 'ooh' or sigh loudly or anything without me going 'are you alright?' all the bloody time...

garmin doesn't always load first fifth time - it's the one thing about them that is really bloody annoying

sticky great news about job interview - is it nearby(ish)? might mess up your marathon plans though (I am only even considering it because I have leave due in the autumn term)

have had good day today - DD has been brill (or 'not brill, brilliant' as she would undoubtedly correct me!); no run, but coldy. Will run home from work tomorrow instead - a good 8 miles or so.

sfxmum · 22/11/2011 20:02

DrN you look fine and weirdly I found a pic of me in that link Shock

monkey glad things went well

moshi hope it feels better afaik toes affect balance, best have it checked

wheely how about water icing? simpler and can use assorted flavours or an orange glaze/

I have been thinking carefully about goals for next year and alternating between getting excited and energised and feeling like I want to hide or run away screaming Grin
so best declare it I will work toward the 30min 5k and do ParkRun regularly
I will work to do get the 10K to 1hr

and I will get the business up and running hopefully with the side social enterprise bit along with it LFDT

futurity · 22/11/2011 20:04

I agree...Garmin is a pain when it comes to loading onto my Mac..I often have to unplug and plugin again to get it to behave (and cross my fingers!)

DebiTheScot · 22/11/2011 20:59

Cheers DrNo, I know I'm being cheeky but figured it was worth a try!

Hope your ankle is ok moshi, there's space on my boring injury bench if it's not.
I'm so depressed about my shin. It was sore driving the car today Sad. I'd planned a short run tomorrow but won't.

Glad to hear babypeach (I liked fanny's suggestion of apricot) is doing well too.

Must go and do some work now.

RunningAllDay · 22/11/2011 21:05

Hello there - I realise I haven't said CONGRATS to peach and fantastic to read your wonderful birth story. I hope the waiting ends soon for you rhet. Sorry to hear about ankle moshi, and about immigration woes - having spent 15 years living in various burocratic (sp?) countries, I hear your frustration! DrNo not only do I often not have any technical tees to wear (what with my slackness at clearing the laundry), but I have owned my leggings since I was at university and they are... cotton!!! Could really do with a trip to the shops.

Have been hunting and hunting for a 2012 marathon that fits with my horrible schedule for next year - I may well be back at university in September so if I'm going to do one, I need to do it by July, really. I have found one... but it is on March 4th Shock A little bit soon, but I have a friend who is superkeen to do it, so here goes. Have had no wine, so can't even blame it on that!

So 2012 targets: beat my 10k PB (52:06); beat my 5k PB (25:15); sub 1:50 HM; survive a marathon. And not kill my entire family who have decided to join me on the Wye Forest 50 walk (DH, DS, BIL, FIL, DF)

Wheelybug · 22/11/2011 21:24

Oh no fanny you must let me pay for it. Otherwise I won't feel able to ask you to go to aldi again for me when they have bargains Grin

sfx alas it is now all frosted, the orange idea sounded nice though. It has a sickly sweet butter (stork) icing on it. At least the kids will love it! I noticed there were
Pics of the run you did and wondered if you were keeping it quiet. I haven't searched for you though yet.

Which park run would you do ? Richmond ? Maybe I'll make it there one day when dd moves up a swimming group.

Great news on the interview sticky what law do you do?

AngeChica · 22/11/2011 21:25

fanny or indeed anyone, there is always a sofa available chez ange for GNR weekend if it helps. I agree the route does go through the more unsightly parts of South Tyneside!

Wheelybug · 22/11/2011 21:25

Running - exciting re marathon. Which one is it ?

Moshi - hope the ankle improves and the alter g thingummy keeps you going
In the meantime.

Wheelybug · 22/11/2011 21:27

Oh yes and fanny £88 for the GNR. Does that just guarantee 1 years entry ? Seems a bit steep... I'd do a different one now you've done it as you're not local. I really want to do it but only once given the logistics.

sfxmum · 22/11/2011 21:35

not hiding wheely just did not occur to me to look for photos before, alas there I am in all my flabby arsed glory and looking exactly like my mother, second time this week I look in the mirror see her, happened when I was wearing this black shift just like she had Shock

parkrun likely pools in the park as I could pop over quickly as I usually take dd to music class at 11.30 near here.

bonkersLFDT20 · 22/11/2011 21:35

[technical genius] Fixed it!
It didn't like IE, but was fine on Firefox.

Sooooo, much fun! Thanks Rhet for sending me your Garmin. I got a massively good bargain.

Anyway, I did 5.78 miles in 48:21 mins. Felt great and chatted all the way round.
Now to work out how to put in on FB so I can show off there!

Sorry, I'm being very egocentric and now I have to organise a Hen Night rather than read the w/e race reports.

RunningAllDay · 22/11/2011 21:37

The thrilling Duchy Marathon. It has the advantage of being reasonably local (Redruth, cornwall), and cheap (12 quid!!!!!) in case I don't quite make it!

DrNortherner · 22/11/2011 21:41

My garmin doesn't always load, and sometimes it has totally gone blank and not even registered when I connect the charger thing, which I find quite fiddly to line up properly. Other than that I love it!

Did running club tonight 5.72 miles including 16 Jim Davidson aka big bastard hill repeats.

Glad everyone is well. Am off to eat a bowl of rice pud and watch I'm a celeb.

sfx curious as to how you found a pic of yourself?!

sfxmum · 22/11/2011 21:44

running so when is that marathon? and what (being nosey) will you be studying?

drN it has a list of races, when the link first came up it was not on your pic just home page then it bounced to yours

forgot also need to get on with degree, more than half way there, the plan was to start another module in February to go along with current one until June/July but that might be over ambitious

Wheelybug · 22/11/2011 21:48

Yes sfx - I see my mother in me too. It's strange ! Is pools in the park, Richmond old deer park or is that something different ? that's where I did my first RFL.

Running - good luck with the training !

peachLFDTsmuggler · 22/11/2011 21:51

sfx, you look good lady!!! And I like your running gear!

£12 for a marathon? Get in there running!

fanny, I would skip it mate. It would be different if it was local but if it's going to be a costly palaver getting there maybe save your money for other cool races.

Right, must get off to bed. Need to wake that girl for another feed, she is such a sleepy head!

RunningAllDay · 22/11/2011 21:51

March 4th. Eeek.

sfxmum I hope to be studying medicine come September - I just passed the GAMSAT (grad entry to medicine) with a suprisingly good mark so am hopeful that I will qualify for interview and then an offer, despite my antiquated condition (ie. being 35). My first degree (and 10 year career) are as a geologist so it is something of a departure! I'm trying not to think about how I will juggle childcare/home stuff with DH away 6 months of the year, with being a fulltime student, and then later with placements etc.

What is the degree you are doing?

sfxmum · 22/11/2011 22:00

running I think when you have already managed motherhood work and mostly sole carer for half the year, you are likely to do well in the medicine, particularly as it is a mature choice, where will you be studying?

mine is not as high gear am doing health and Social care trying to put emphasis on management rather than social policy which is what I find far more interesting, although I like to be doing it now as so much is changing in the field

peach thank you darling you are very kind
