Oh that poor lady monkey...

orange I am glad things are good for you now.

peach and rhet I think an iPad is a must for mothers of new borns (and their partners of course). I remember reading whilst feeding in the middle of the night with the help of a piggy wind up torch held in my mouth. Oh how good an iPad would have been. I'm quite surprised to be an owner of one tbh. It was a flash of inspiration on my behalf (and handy to have a dh who felt a bit guilty buying the sound system - which he shouldn't do as he never spends any money).

Great race report moshi . Aside from the strength issues of monkey bars etc I think
I would struggle with 10 foot walls given their twice my height.

Have grabbed a granny for 4th dec so am going to sign up for 10k. Dh going to do it too as he's on a mission to bulk up since he's just found out he's lost half a stone through muscle wastage since being ill and he was only not quite 9.5 stone to start with. Eek.

My 8 miles was a bit hard but haven't done any distance since GSR. The last couple of miles felt better than the previous 6 so hopefully a case of getting back into it. Oh and giving up wine for most of the week again I think helps massively Sad

DrNortherner · 14/11/2011 16:32

Bonkers just realised that yes, you ran 7.5 minute miles Shock Go you! And in your pic you do actually look like you are running!

moshi how tough are you beating fit Mike by 3 mins? How did Mike react?! Grin

monkeyLFDTwench · 14/11/2011 16:35

wheely I'm not sure I can be trusted with an iPad, though. I love my iPhone but have already completely smashed the screen once - I'm such a clumsy oaf. There's one thing money can't buy you - gracefulness. How I manage to even put one foot in front of the other every day, I have no idea.

hat one of my friends is from Bakewell - we were there for her dd's christening earlier this year. Didn't get to run though! Probably for the best, she's a bit of a mountain goat.

sticky giving the ears a rest for a month now, then Kasabian in December Smile.

monkeyLFDTwench · 14/11/2011 16:37

Moshi another lesson learned - next time no waiting politely for the blokes. Give them a fanny like roar and expect them to move their wimpy arses!

stickyLFDTfingers · 14/11/2011 17:04

so where is bonkers' pic?

moshi lol at you beating Fit Mike! He will have to change his name, poor love.

Hat you might not be one of those tall'n'scary fell runners, but you must be a little demon on the hills. Just as scary, trust me! Good luck with the Ethiopia trip, hope you can find somewhere to run around.

Monkey Envy again! Love the "I am Fanny, hear me roar" (could be a feminist thread title!). Actually, Fanny I was channelling your Shock picture when I was out today, imagining you giving out to me about running so slowly! It worked a treat, hope you don't mind becoming my virtual personal trainer :)

orange hope you're having a nice sit down, and hiding from all those nasty electrical appliances which do seem to be bullying you right now...

rhet eeuw indeed. Are you going to get a new cat/kitten? Perfect time, of course, with a new born in the house too Confused. Perhaps just a mouse trap would be better, thinking about it.

Right, have to take the girls to their swimming lesson. It was so much easier back in the summer when it was light at this time. Brrrrr

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/11/2011 17:07

Moshi, you rock! It would have taken me 50 minutes to get over that wall...my upper body strength it utterly pathetic, though slightly better since having DD.

Orange, sorry bout the washing machine but I must admit I did find it amusing, the idea of your washing machine exploding and DS sniffing the air thinking "I fancy some toast" Grin

was talking to DP about ipads, he of course says "oh don't get an ipad, get another tablet". He hates Apple and I can see why, but I have no energy/interest to go researching these things...

Wheelybug · 14/11/2011 17:08

"not as fit as moshi" mike .....?

Wheelybug · 14/11/2011 17:12

No peach we are generally not apple people but being v unTechno we wouldn't have had a clue what else to get. Plus if I'd dithered on the decision I would probably be tabletless. I'd be interested in the amazon one though when that reaches our shores.

monkey dd1 seems v keen on using it which doesn't seem the best way of keeping it intact. At least she might get her hands on the laptop now....

sfxmum · 14/11/2011 17:34

I need a crib sheet for the Mn FB interchange, I only have a few from the first wave Grin

rhetorician · 14/11/2011 17:36

no new kitten - we have another cat in any case...we have had a break-through with DD at nursery - she had lots of accidents today (this is actually a good thing as it means that she isn't holding on) but did a wee on the toilet there before I picked her up. She'll be off and running now, hopefully. She seems much happier too (presumably because she hasn't spent all day with a full bladder)

DP fretting about slightly quiet baby. I seem to recall this as a constant in the last couple of weeks.

Right, must finish off tomorrow's lecture (10am...)

OP posts:
MoshiMoshi · 14/11/2011 17:37

Remind your DP, rhet, that the baby naturally moves less as there is less room towards the end of the term.

rhetorician · 14/11/2011 17:41

I will - this baby has always been very, um, energetic!

bonkersLFDT20 · 14/11/2011 18:08

sticky I put a pic of me in "my photos". It's public. I then went to "my profile" and tried to "add a photo from my gallery", but when I go to the gallery, although I can see my pic, I don't see how to select it for my profile.

The profile is also public (I think), but I see that hovering over my name does not let you go to my profile.

It's not intuitive at all (are you listening MNHQ?).

rhetorician · 14/11/2011 18:16

bonkers had the same problematic thought process when I did mine too!

OP posts:
rhetorician · 14/11/2011 18:16

runner's brain, obviously

monkeyLFDTwench · 14/11/2011 18:18

My poor long-suffering DH. I just had to phone him on the train and ask him to get some bricks super giant sanitary towels for me on the way home. He said "yeah that's fine, but can I buy something else with them so I don't look weird?"

Suggestions on a postcard please ....

MoshiMoshi · 14/11/2011 18:25

Lovely pic bonkers! You have a nice neutral looking gait there with the longest legs ever (speaking enviously as a short person who overpronates).

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/11/2011 18:34

monkey, tell him to get some condoms and some Anusol. Wink

bonkers, great photo, you are super tall, no?

Oh Rhet, poor DP, this is a very anxious stage. Could very easily be baby's position, but no shame in trip in for monitoring if it puts her, and your, mind at ease.

rhetorician · 14/11/2011 18:38

tis fine - kicking around like a loon again - visibly!

orangeLFDThead · 14/11/2011 18:45

Glad I am not the only one the pathetic upper body strength Smile.
The day not getting much better was going to gym tonight, really did not want to miss a work out as really nervous about the 10 miles. But now getting an eggy taste (sorry if tmi) think I might be getting the boys bug. Think I better leave the gym they might ban me if I didnt get off the treadmill in time.

Wheelybug · 14/11/2011 18:46

Glad all ok rhet.

monkey - remonds me of being 15 and thinking that if we bought other things with booze they'd think we were grown ups. So we bought martini eggs and shampoo Hmm Bear (dd1 wanted to add the bear !Biscuit ....and the biscuit)

orangeLFDThead · 14/11/2011 18:48

Great picture bonkers.
Glad all ok rhet its trying to keep you on your toes.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/11/2011 19:01

Glad to hear it Rhet Smile

we are currently putting the cot up. I say we. DP is and I am "supervising" from the bed. Sure fire way to get baby to come would be to procrastinate over the cot but hey.

monkeyLFDTwench · 14/11/2011 19:24

So DH has just arrived home with

  • bananas
  • white wine
  • white chocolate

He was confoooooooooosed!

MoshiMoshi · 14/11/2011 19:36
