Pan, I was with you there until we got to the transparent skin bit...

I often think of nothing at all. I hope like meditation, rather than like stupidity.

I think I'm ready to go off now! See yous all later :)

DebiTheScot · 01/11/2011 13:00

Pmsl at wizardfanny! Why did you feel the need to share that? Grin Glad you did tho, a fascinating fact!

I'm stomping my feet at the HM I want to enter. The website said it opens mid Sept, then Oct, then mid Oct, then late Oct and it's still saying late Oct. For some reason I feel I need to enter it the day it opens so I check it every day.

I was talking to myself telling dh last night about how I think I need to plan in advance what races I want to do next year. This year I made it up as I went along and did 2 sprint tris, 1 duathlon & 2 10ks. As I want to do at least 1 tri, at least one duathlon, a HM, maybe GSR and probably a couple of smaller cheap 10ks I think I need to plan it carefully or the costs might go up a bit high.

Wheelybug · 01/11/2011 13:09

On phone so a quickie

moshi/ sfx I am thinking of kingston 10k on 4 Dec if yiu fancy it ? No antlers though .

peach - I braved my first bikini wax this yr pre hols. I was a bit scared tbh and embarrassed but it was fine. Wasn't up duffed though. My parents are in Thailand at the mo - have had to miss out bangkok but did start in Singapore and did some of Malaysia so have had extra time at beach.

Wheelybug · 01/11/2011 13:13

Yeah pan I don't get the transparent skin thing either. Maybe its a boy thing ?!

BTW my race photos are out - terrble though, only 2 and I ave my eyes shut, my thighs look like tree trunks and the bunches were a bad idea for sure. DH said I looked v sweaty. I think that was the rain/spray.

orangehead · 01/11/2011 13:14

I don't think I think of anything either pan. If I am struggling I count and thats about it.
You do make me smile Fanny. Last time I was pregnant hubby helped with neating up down there. Would he be up for that as you can't see. Strangely he said he liked doing it.
Thats a bit mean of her Rhet, but at least you have christmas as just your family.

sfxmum · 01/11/2011 13:14

gardening? I live in a flat HmmGrin fanny straight? really?
frankly when giving birth that was the last thing on my mind, generally speaking not keen on overgrown, people of Mediterranean stock tend to cursed blessed with a lot of hair

what do I think about when I run? it depends on my mood, I usually listen to music, sometimes I focus on it, sometimes I use it as background to let my mind drift, sometimes I listen to podcasts and on occasion to audiobooks, sometimes I let my imagination loose and just sort of daydream, nothing too close to reality, sometimes I go over the problems of the week

today set out for short 3miles, half way through dh called me saying that some of the team are being let go at the end of December guess what I was thinking of for the r4est of the run?
hopefully all will be ok, and he does have something in the pipeline, along with my project which I hope will be up and running by April/May

orangehead · 01/11/2011 13:15

I'm sure they don't Wheely. Can we see the photos?

sfxmum · 01/11/2011 13:15

wheely no antlers? Santa hats?

orangehead · 01/11/2011 13:20

oh no sfxmum thats not good. Hope it all works out ok. When is he likely to know?
I have tried mulling over problems when I run but find I got worked up then had a really rubbish run.

Wheelybug · 01/11/2011 13:29

Orange - i'll have a look at them on the computer first (only looked on phone) to see how terrible they are. Of course those who know my RL name are probably googling ..... Damn Facebook.

Wheelybug · 01/11/2011 13:31

Sfx - hope all is ok with dh .

I'm sure they won't stop you wearing a Santa hat.... You'd just be the only one !

Right trying to gear myself up to go for a swim. V tired. Been in with dd1 yesterday and dd2 this morning . Tried to persuade dd2 to skip creche and go home but she wasn't having it.

monkeywench · 01/11/2011 13:34

I tend to zone out too. Or scan the horizon for the nearest public loo.

Come on speedy wheely you need to share. If I let you lot see my St John Ambulance pictures, I think I deserve it .

sfx crap news, when will he find out?

peachsmuggler · 01/11/2011 13:36

Cmon Wheely, let's see those bunches!!!

pan, I sort of daydream, make lists, re-hash arguments with DP in my head Wink, although now of course, I will be thinking of transparent skin!

sfx, fingers crossed DH's job ok.

I'm not bothered about having huge thatch during labour, more thinking about hygiene etc after...

monkey, I've never me the Big Yin myself but when I was working in a book shop in Glasgow he came in and one of my collegues served him (I wasn't in that day, curses!!). He used a credit card (one of those goldfish cards he used to advertise, so he obviously puts his money where his mouth is) and he hadn't signed the back of it. My collegue asked him for some other form of ID to confirm his identification!!!!!! We laughed at her for weeks for that!!! He was telling her that he had worked in our bookshop as a boy and was
apparently very nice.

Look at this people! www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-15520901 for all our Edinburgh lasses! Might even look into it myself!!

sfxmum · 01/11/2011 13:38

I am sure things will be ok thanks, all it was more of a sit down after run momentary oh crap moment, last year we had 3months in between jobs, it is the nature of the beast

had a look at Kingston 10K it is a possibility

N4NNY · 01/11/2011 13:38

Parkrun in Iceland was amazing the course was along side a river and some amazing waterfalls and when we finished we were able to make use of a outdoor themo swimming pool where there were differnt pool heated to different temps the hotest being 41 -43c. My run was the fastest I've done according to my garmin but the offical parkrun results showed me 2 mins slower then Gary Garmin :-( My friend who came with me was 3 mins out on her time we are hoping the reported gremlins get sorted and our times are ajusted to reflect our true time.

MoshiMoshi · 01/11/2011 14:36

wheely - Kingston run looks a possibility!

(look away pan and cest) fanny - I too have straight ones Grin. I think most Oriental people would. Incidentally, I have just finished a course of IPL down there and cannot recommend it highly enough. No more waxing for me! When I was due I would have a full Brazilian 4 weeks before my due date to keep the gangway clear for the new baby.

MoshiMoshi · 01/11/2011 14:37

sfx - sending positive vibes it will be fine.

N4NNY - any pics? Sounds gorgeous!

MoshiMoshi · 01/11/2011 14:39

Look, another London-based 10K for wheely and sfx to consider?

runnerstipple · 01/11/2011 14:41

Hi all, just back from holiday and haven't had time to catch up with the thread yet, but had to share that I have a place in the Olympic Park Run! Am so excited, I expect you could have heard the shriek 50 miles away. I'm sitting here with the biggest grin on my face. Did anyone else get in? Sorry, I guess you all posted about it last week. Will try and catch up properly later...

monkeywench · 01/11/2011 14:43

IPL is great, I had it under my arms but that's the only place it would work for me because you need dark hair against light skin. The rest of me is light and fluffy and doesn't notice so much! Bit late for you peach!

That parkrun sounds brilliant N4NNY I'm so jealous. I think my local-ish parkrun does a Christmas one, might look now and see.

N4NNY · 01/11/2011 14:48

moshi I've no pictures of the parkrun venue but have lots from Iceland I will see if I can post them later from laptop if not I'll put them on facebook and add people there to see if they want too

peachsmuggler · 01/11/2011 15:25

Glad you enjoyed Iceland N4NNY, looking forward to the photos!

runnerstipple, congratulations, that's brilliant news! From memory I think the only others who got in were wiifit, and DrNo's DH!!

fannybanjo · 01/11/2011 16:13

Moshi you reckon I have oriental genes then...?! Blonde, fair skinned, blue eyed, straight pubed - its a possibility. Wink

I really really really really wanna do a 5k before Xmas but they are all Santa Dash ones. Anyone doing one?

fannybanjo · 01/11/2011 16:31

Oh congrats runnerstipple!

stickylittlefingers · 01/11/2011 16:33

Hey there everyone! 11.25 miles of utter loveliness this afternoon - beautiful golden afternoon, dappled light through the oak leaves, babbling brook (babbling runners Wink). Bit of a rush then to go and get the girls from school Blush!

N4NNY that sounds fantastic! I've always wanted to try out those thermopools. Well done on your run too (I'm sure Gary was right!). I wonder will they put some pictures on the park run newsletter?

Yay runnerstipple lucky you!

Fanny I did a santa one at Fountains Abbey - it was fun! The only thing I'd recommend is either looking after your own costume or getting it in advance. We got ours on the day, and mine was designed for Santa himself! I ended up tying the trousers round my middle and just running in the jacket (which pretty much was down to my knees anyway). All much to the amusement of people who were just there to see the abbey and found my wardrobe malfunction an added bonus. My little brother won the race, so we had a nice bottle of wine after - hooray!! Anyway, may well do it again this year.
