no,no get on with it and I will just quietly snigger.

rhetorician · 29/10/2011 22:34

hello all, reporting from the land of endless familial obligation...wheely have had multiple a few snorts at your poor bag being mocked (have you spoken to the school?)...but good luck. What plucky intrepid runners we are: bag mockery, bandits, etc.

fanny sympathies, I have a horrible feeling that I will look back fondly on DD1's current line 'I can do what I want!' and think, 'ah, it was all so much easier then', even though I am wrecked from all of her attention/cooking/my mother's demands for attention. She is wired to the moon - too many visitors, plus grotty cold and cough, plus DP not having it in the tank. Oooh, it's fun and laughs at rhet's house...almost tempted to send her to nursery next week and not bother potty training her.

Went out for 5 miles as I couldn't stand being in the house any more for a breather - it was fabulous. Hoping to manage it again tomorrow.

pan hello again; I am glad to see that you 'got' the bag thing

slf loved the Halloween report - good time too, your DD is a pretty good runner.

Off to bed for five seconds only to be woken at about 7.30 by 'mummy, I need a nappy change/I've got a snotty nose/I want a drink/ I think you should be punished and therefore must get out of bed and get me at once'

I was thinking as I ran home at around 5, that by tomorrow it will be getting dark at that time. Must dig out flashing lights and hi-vis T-shirts...night all

stickylittlefingers · 29/10/2011 22:37

God be praised, Peach is having a miracle Grin Grin

Fanny as ever, I'm overwhelmed and feeling totally inadequate by your energy woman. Wtf are you on? Grin No wonder you run fast!

peachsmuggler · 29/10/2011 22:37

Jeez fanny, where do you get the energy!!!! Am ok, thanks, might have caught DP's cold which he has been malingering with the last couple of days. Hope not. Looks like my dad's wife might have to go into a hospice, as my dad is not coping too well. He's 77 now so not surprising. Think she will get better care there, but horrible for them to be apart. Not sure yet though as she still has to have liver biopsy on Monday then hopefully get results by end of week Sad

orangehead · 29/10/2011 22:38

I checked out that website June seems good although must say I dont want to be a body builder. I was drawn by promise of ab stuff although I still think my bs are beyond help. There seems to alot of pregnancy info and workouts on there (which hopefully I will be able to use soon). Although there seems alot of info felt a bit like I didnt know where to start. Any particular plans you recommend?

monkeywench · 29/10/2011 22:38

Laughing at the boy without a winkle, one of my favourite ever Blackadder episodes! Ds3 is most impressed with his, I think I told you all he recently said to an elderly lady in a shop "my has got a willy winkle", and to her credit she acted suitably impressed!

Careful now fanny we don't want to scare off our rooster in the henhouse .....

peachsmuggler · 29/10/2011 22:42

Meant to say fanny, every time I type your name I want to type fannybaws (Glaswegian insult term of endearment)

DrNortherner · 29/10/2011 22:46

I'm lolling at sweet little innocent 9 year old girls going into Fanny's house and coming out looking like Dolly Parton Grin And Jute bags?! Have a word with yourself woman Wink

rhet glad to hear you are surviving the visit. Have you enjoyed her company?....

Well, night all. I am off to bed and I plan to stay there for a long time.......

fannybanjo · 29/10/2011 23:11

rhet Yes, you will be reminiscing in 7 years how lovely DD1 was at 2. Hope your mum been behaving!?

DrNo not quite as classy as Dolly Grin I had to refrain from doing my dance routines. DD1 looked mortified when I
attempted the Beyonce Single Ladies dance.

fannybanjo · 29/10/2011 23:16

peach you CAN call me fannybaws. However I first read it as Fannyswab! Grin. So fannybaws actually preferable. Oh no, I'm truly sorry to hear things have deteriorated for your dad and stepmum. Sad. Hospice probably a better option as she will need a lot of care and at 77 he's obviously not up to it. Your poor dad. Hope your cold doesn't get worse, you're doing marvellous in consideration of awful stresses. How long now until D-day? Smile

Themasterandmargaritas · 30/10/2011 07:01

Just a quick one to let you all know I am safe and sound. All was going swimmingly until mile 3, when I started getting tummy cramps. I stopped for the loo and my feckin arseing period arrived. I wasn't expecting it til next week so hadnt put any necessary procedures in place. I had to stop. I've been toilet hopping ever since. SadGrin buggeration. My one chance a year to run on the flat!

Wheely, squix go run for me. (and give your kit bag a little stroke from me).

OP posts:
monkeywench · 30/10/2011 07:17

Oh [master]. That's horrible - I know exactly how you feel. My body is revolting - in the sense of making life as bloody awkward as possible - too.

Are you on your way home?

Themasterandmargaritas · 30/10/2011 07:29

I bumped into friends at the fun run who were able to give me some provisions and I stopped to see dh and ds but then had to run for the nearest loo where I joined the shitgate club. Sad I then managed to make it to the car then home before the next round. I've just had a bath and am feeling v sorry for myself Sad feckin hormones. Grin

OP posts:
monkeywench · 30/10/2011 07:37

Am just hopping in the car myself to get to my friend's house for a run. What a nightmare for you, you have every right to feel sorry for yourself. Make sure you do something nice for the rest of the day Smile.

Wheelybug · 30/10/2011 07:48

Oh masters that's so crap (unintended pun) . V. Unmumsnetty hugs.

Am on a train and doors just shut so I'm on my way ! With my trusty bag beside me.

Back later from the other side ......

monkeywench · 30/10/2011 07:50

Good luck wheely!

rhetorician · 30/10/2011 07:50

M&M bastard thing! that's exactly what happened to me on the forest 10k - I felt it arrive IYSWIM...

all madness at fanny's house - slightly crazy here, but fine. Mum behaving OK, more or less, although i think she is bored.

Not sure that I'm going to get out for a run today, but we'll see - I have managed to run every other day at least, so that's something. I've only 140km to go to reach my 2000km for the year, and 2 months in which to do it

Themasterandmargaritas · 30/10/2011 08:05

Yes that's just it rhet I felt it arrive. Totally out my control. Sad I hope dp and bump are surviving all your visitors.

Good luck wheely. Smile

June2009 · 30/10/2011 08:12

right rhet good point, with all that I spent on running gear Friday, did I buy anything to run in the dark? noooope.

What do you guys wear when you run in the dark in winter?

I'm useless, tried to catch up with the thread and forever getting confused with the "previous" "next" pages and going back and forth.

good luck wheely hope your bag stands up for itself ;)

June2009 · 30/10/2011 08:16

master :( what a nightmare. I sympathise, the only pill that doesn't turn me into a depressed hormonal monster come with the added bonus of periods showing up whenever they feel like it. The little pantyliners are not really suitable for long distance sweaty running, not enough grip iyswim.

AngeChica · 30/10/2011 08:18

Hello? Can I join? I think this is quite a busy thread but will try my best. My target is the 2012 VLM as I have a golden ticket. I am doing the Adnams Southwold 10k on 20 Nov and the Run Northumberland HM 25 March. Maybe try and do another 10k before Chrimbo. I have spent the last few months dragging myself up from crap fitness & I need to step it up. I'm a plodder but ran 15k continuously last weekend.

peachsmuggler · 30/10/2011 08:37

Oh master, that is rotten. What a shame. Hope you manage to do something nice today and treat yourself a bit.

Welcome Ange, congrats on your VLM place, that's so exciting! Sounds like your training is well on it's way. It is a fast thread, but great fun, see if you can keep up! Wink

peachsmuggler · 30/10/2011 08:40

June, my running jacket has shiny reflective stripes on it but really I should buy some arm band things. Good reminder!

Rhet, glad you are surviving the visit. Did you confirm non-attendance for Xmas? Try and bore her a bit more and she might never come back Wink

Pan · 30/10/2011 08:47

Ange, greetings - been here for ..um..hours meself!! 15k contin. sounds impressive and what is VLM?

running at night? I am going to be running in darkness along my Trail. We did it last year, and it is surprising how much ambient, and some moonlight can get through, and after a while one's eyes adjust. As they do. Tricky, and a bit spooky.

rhetorician · 30/10/2011 09:50

june2009 all the lidl gear I bought has reflective strips, but I wear a day-glo T-shirt (over long sleeved top if cold) and use a bike light on an armband. Ronhill used to do fluorescent beanie hats with reflective strips, but i only wear a hat to run when it is very cold indeed. I would tend to run only on pavements in the park, and not go offroad after dark. But there's something quite zen about running in the dark as long as you are safe and visible...a lot of you run on country roads and I wouldn't be keen to do that in the dark myself - cars go too fast and can't see you well enough.

I need to kit out the bike with the child-seat with lights and reflectors pronto.

Hello angechica and welcome - I am still thinking about a marathon in 2012, but later in the year. Thread moves fast but we are all v. friendly (and actually a bit bonkers, but in a nice way :))
