Not me for Bupa 10K Wheelybug ...was meant to be Moshi but she is injured so she kindly offered her place but we can't seem to work out how to get the number and chip to me before Monday so think I will have to pass. Am planning a jolly run round Grafham reservoir instead as my last long run before my half.

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 20:29

paws I think I am the proud holder of the wooden spoon...I have just ordered a Garmin 205 (this is the big screen that I've seen in MrsWeds? pics) :) It was only ?99 I assume because it's been replaced by some swisher model, but it looks as if it will do everything I need. I can't wait to get back to some proper running - my 5 miler is July 16, the 10 miler Aug 20, half on 3rd Sept, and then probably another half at the end of September (I assume I will just need to maintain, rather than train for that)...

It's such a joy to be talking and thinking about this stuff again instead of numbers and probabilities! I'm going to run tomorrow!!

backwardpossom · 27/05/2011 21:04

I've got a Garmin 205, driving - it's excellent. Can't believe how good it is for the price. It's a bit bulky, but it is brilliant. :)

peachsmuggler · 27/05/2011 21:07

Hand me the wooden spoon girls, have done 2 miles in..erm.. 4 weeks. Ha ha!

Good luck Squix and suntan this weekend.

Bloomin eck notyummy, you are Billy Whizz!

Wheely, that run sounds nice. I shall be down in the vicinity tomorrow but eating, not running. Lunch in Kingston Smile

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 21:14

peach come now, you have a very good excuse (DP is aghast at your 2 miles...)

notyummy · 27/05/2011 21:14

Billy Whizz Grin

You are showing your age there Peach!

Thanks for the compliment though! My knees are not feeling Whizzy at all this evening.....

DebiTheScot · 27/05/2011 21:18

great news driving, I haven't been here long but was still thinking about you today and hoping it'd be good news.

Being overtaken by Sonic is ok, he is quite speedy!

1hr44 for 13 miles!! Very impressive. I'm also impressed by people who have the motivation to run that far just for fun! I need the events to make me get out.

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 21:22

I haven't been here that long either, Debi which is why I've been so overwhelmed by everyone's kindness.

It's about being a runner, really, not the speeds or distances that you can do, isn't it?

OP posts:
drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 21:23

also, thinking that one day a bunch of us should do a relay...(paws and me can compete for the slowest leg :o)

OP posts:
futurity · 27/05/2011 21:40

can I join in the slowest leg as I really am VERY slow! (plods along eating jelly babies and hoping for the best...)

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 21:46

futurity - here, have one of my jelly babies (the Bassetts I think are nicer than Tesco's own - what do you think?)

OP posts:
MrsWednesday · 27/05/2011 22:01

I am sloth-like at the moment.

It's the weight of my extra large Garmin 205 slowing me down.

(I do love it though - have had it for 3 years and it's been totally reliable)

DebiTheScot · 27/05/2011 22:03

if anyone wants to hunt medown on fb my first name is quite obvious and my surname is a place in cornwall without the St. bit in front. My profile pic is a duplo rugby stadium.

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 22:06

MrsWeds - when I got back from the Infamous Half-Marathon of Indefinite Duration, I picked up my gear (shorts, long sleeved top, bra, pants, socks and absolutely sodden running shoes, oh, plus hat) and reckoned that it weighed about 3kg...so my new Garmin (mmm....) will just top that lot off nicely

OP posts:
drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 22:06

DP has gone to bed, I am drinking wine in my pjs...I think I want another glass

OP posts:
backwardpossom · 27/05/2011 22:09

Found you Grin

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 22:10

absolutely no one who can run a mile under 10min can call themselves slow

good luck for the weekend races and planned runs

dh found official pics of his race online, says he looks old and out of puffHmm vanity vanity thy name is....Grin

MrsWednesday · 27/05/2011 22:27

Is it possible to have a flattering running picture? On all mine I have a massive forehead. I'm sure that its disproportionate size is the cause of my lack of pace.

Along with my heavy garmin and concrete trainers.

Found you too Debi.

futurity · 27/05/2011 22:27

drivingmisscrazy (takes jelly babies and tries to fit too many in my mouth)...yes...I have to have Bassetts jelly babies...I am a jelly baby snob!

DebiTheScot · 27/05/2011 22:35

Blimey that was quick! 4 new friends in 5 minutes!
backwardpossom I 'know' (dad of a friend) a technology teacher who used to (and might still) work at your school.

YeahThatsTheBadger · 27/05/2011 22:41

Right, I want in on this facebook malarky.
MrsWed I couldn't track you down through your justgiving page, so I'm hunting you all down from Debi. Grin

backwardpossom · 27/05/2011 22:43

Ha no way, really? Small world!

Badger - initials are DM and my profile pic is one of me in my running gear. x

YeahThatsTheBadger · 27/05/2011 22:49

Backward it won't let me be your friend, nor driving. I'm still trying to figure out the rest...

backwardpossom · 27/05/2011 22:51

Ah, it must be because I have stupidly high security settings because I'm a teacher - message me your details and I'll find you :)
