Congratulations driving and your DP, have beenthinking about you all day. Now you can relax. So pleased for you both!

notyummy · 27/05/2011 14:37

Have just read back. What great news Driving.

I had exactly the same thing whilst pregnant with dd. The waiting is horrible and I am so glad you have had the results.

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 14:38

driving, isscrazy I am very happy for you and your family Smile

peachsmuggler · 27/05/2011 14:40

Yayyyy! Congratulations Driving to you and your DP! What a relief, am so happy for you! Getting a little emotional over my scrambled eggs here. Hope you have a lovely, celebratory weekend. Brilliant news!

Goldberry · 27/05/2011 14:43

Fantastic news, Driving! Phew!

Wheelybug · 27/05/2011 15:31

Fantastic news driving - what a relief for us you !

MrsWednesday · 27/05/2011 15:55

Wooo hoooo!!!! Brilliant news Grin

So pleased for you all. Also feeling tearful.x

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 17:11

ps - also sorry for hijacking the thread so thoroughly - let's get back to talking about running. I am buying a Garmin, and I am doing a 5 miler on July 16 and I'd like to do it in less than 45 minutes. I think this is a realistic goal for me, despite the total lack of running this week (if I'd used a heart rate monitor it probably would have blown up!)

OP posts:
YeahThatsTheBadger · 27/05/2011 17:28

Well I'm off to Donegal in a few weeks and was hoping to go out for a run with my cousins' DH who got back into running 6 months ago. But having just checked his time in a recent 5k and it was 18mins. Envy Don't think I'll be venturing out with him for fear of embarrassing myself. Blush Don't think i'll ever run with anyone and keep my self esteem intact!

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 17:37

badger my dh was also a latecomer to running and has gone all MRspeedy speedotty, most annoying Wink

notyummy · 27/05/2011 17:38

Thanks for the thoughts on drinks/nutrition. I may do a bit of research. Those of you who take stuff with you, what do you find best to carry it in?

I did a half marathon today! (13.2) in 1 hr 44 mins. Felt good for most of it, but the final mile was REALLY hard...and now my knee hurts a bit. Think I may need new trainers. In general I think I may need a more structured approach to training and eating as my 'just go out and run as far as you can/have time to do' has probably got me as far as it is going to!

drivingmisscrazy · 27/05/2011 17:43

notyummy that's a brilliant time - not in race conditions, I assume? in which case, you'd do a fantastic time

badger - donegal, one of the most beautiful places in the world - it's a law unto itself though - they do things differently there!

it is annoying when these people with running talent Jonny-come-latelies turn up and beat us, isn't it?

OP posts:
futurity · 27/05/2011 17:54

1 hr 44 mins!! (passes out with envy!)

DrNortherner · 27/05/2011 18:00

What fantastic news driving I am so so so happy for you and your family. Phew. What a huge relief. Wine tonight? Grin

1.44 for 13.2 miles?! WOW. You are much faster than me, but yes, I take lucozade sport with me when I am running 10 miles or more. Welcome to our thread!

I did a 4 miler today, doing 11 miles tomorrow, have downloaded that marathon podcast thing you all talk about so will keep you posted.

squix · 27/05/2011 18:21

Driving pheweee - am so pleased for you and your DP. Hope you enjoy the weekend and manage to relax ( as much as you can with a wee person in the house)

notyummy - blimey if you can do that time with an unstructured run as fast as you can approach, you could do a brilliant race time. Do you have any races planned?

ormirian good stuff on 13 miles, it soon mounts up doesn't it - was it you looking for earphone recommendations? Have you managed to get hold of some yet?

I have R4L this weekend - looking forward to it. Doing it with 3 friends and I think brunch afterwards is probably the main event. Am still recovering from last week although have managed a couple of jogs this week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and good running or relaxing.

MoshiMoshi · 27/05/2011 18:22

Hoooooooraaaaaayyyyy! So pleased for you and your DP misscrazy!

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 18:29

notyummy that is a great time

notyummy · 27/05/2011 18:29

No not race conditions- just me and lots of long Lincolnshire roads (but at least not many hills!) I have been running for some time but got 'stuck' at around 8 miles distance wise until about 2 months ago when I decided to crank it up a bit. I do a far bit of circuit/strength training so I guess my legs should be quite strong.

No races planned but I guess I could look around got a Half Marathon or even a Kilothon! DH is military and away Sunday night until Friday night, plus I work 4 days a week so finding training time is always an issue. That is why Fridays are always 'long run' day- no work and DD at school.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/05/2011 18:41

Fantastic news driving, really pleased for you and your dpSmile

We are camping but had to log in, hoping for good news.

backwardpossom · 27/05/2011 19:07

Amazing news, driving, I'm so pleased to read it Grin

Hi notyummy that's an amazing half marathon time! Well done! I find I have to take on liquid if I'm running longer than an hour, and if I'm doing 10 miles or more, I try to get some jellybeans/babies on board, too at about 6 miles and have one every mile or so.

I didn't get out this morning like I'd planned (had a long breakfast instead!) so will be going out tomorrow morning instead. Probably do 10k-ish.

Wheelybug · 27/05/2011 19:10

badger - that's teh sort of time my bro does 5K in... hence my reluctance to take him up on a run !!

Yummy - Wow great time !

Hope the RFL goes well Squix and enjoy the brunch after. Also good luck to Sungirltan if you're around and am I right in thinking its Futurity for the Bupa 10K on Monday ? Good luck.

I'm hoping for a longish one, for me, tomorrow, squeezed in between dd1's swimming lessons and taking the dds to a party, if all goes to plan I am planning a new route for me - to Richmond Park, in at Kingston gate, out at Richmond gate dwon the hill to the pedestrian gate opposite the Dysart Arms and back along the bottom to Kingston gate and home. Obviously that only means anything if you're local so apologies but I thought it would be a nice run !

Have a good long weekend everyone.

thecoo · 27/05/2011 19:14

Yay for drivingmiss!!! I'm so so pleased for you both - what a relief it must be after 3 days of agonising.

Well done on your time notyummy - v impressive!

Good luck for R4L squix!

Ok, enough exclamation marks...

Was great fun looking at some of your photos on Facebook - will try and get round to uploading some of my own at some point.

Going to try and run for 40 minutes slowly tomorrow and see how my achilles holds out - wish me luck! I've given up on the idea of doing the 10 mile race next month, so just going to concentrate on building up my distance again without any more damage.

thecoo · 27/05/2011 19:15

Oops another exclamation mark snuck in...

pawsnclaws · 27/05/2011 19:27

I think you'll find that my wooden spoon position is well and truly secure, ladies Wink. Even at my plodding pace I've yet to actually come last in a race, but have been securely beaten by assorted fancy-dressers, and - in a particularly proud moment - by the man pushing his adult son in a wheelchair on a 10 mile race. I was passed at 24 miles in the marathon by Sonic the Hedgehog and had to put on a bit of a spurt to get back past him (even plodders have a little pride).

Lovely to see all my new facebook friends - you've artificially made me look incredibly popular Smile.

sfxmum · 27/05/2011 19:38

Wheely that sounds like a nice run, I will try and get myself over there on Sunday when dd goes riding but from Sheen Gate to Robin Hood, I like going down to the Dysart, usually my favourite direction, downhill Grin
