I'll keep an eye on that Highfibre - have put it on watch... I'm really short though (and my shortness is all in my legs) and no idea what size a 48 cm frame equates to. How tall are you ?

HighFibreDiet · 13/12/2010 17:56

Hi Wheelybug. I'm only 5'2" and have a (proportionately) long body with stocky legs. I was actually looking out for a 49 cm bike but this one came up. It's great and I think if I were riding it more often I would probably put the seat up a little more but it was slightly low to start with, just so I could get used to the racing position. So unless you're very much shorter than me it should be fine. [Sorry for hijack, everyone.]

Wheelybug · 14/12/2010 16:38

I'm 5 foot exactly so it might be ok - will keep watching.

Twink, if you're lurking - have a bit belatedly realised you have just reached a year since MrT's death - I guess this is a difficult time for you. Take care of you and minitwink - thinking of you. Also, Moshi too had a bad time this time last year so thinking of you too !

I meant to post about this before but have been distracted with my own issues - one of my closest friends is seriously ill in hospital. Two weeks ago she was feeling a bit queasy and by saturday she had to have a liver transplant and they don't really know why. V. scary stuff. She's not conscious yet (but is sedated) but all seem to be going ok.

Anyway, it kind of helped to get back to running today- I only did 5K in the gym just to see how my foot went. Seems ok so will do a bit more next time !

MoshiMoshi · 14/12/2010 18:08

Congratulations to highfibre and peach! It's really nice to hear of new life on the way. You are right, wheely, it is a tricky time at the moment so thanks for remembering. But news of pregnancies is nice and uplifting! We also have some news... We are getting a dog! We have looked around and decided to find a Vizsla puppy in the new year. So that will be my new baby. After my four (plus the horse) that is Smile! Does anybody here have a dog that they run with? I am really looking forward to it.

PS wheely I really hope your friend is on the mend. What a fright that must have given her family and friends! Sending prayers all is well in time for Christmas.

HI Moshi, I have a lab that both dh and I run with, it took a while for him to get what we were doing though - he used to take off at high speed pulling me like a sleigh! Now he's sussed it he's great. He cam e to running club with me last night.

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 17/12/2010 19:27

Havent posted for a while as i wasnt able to get out and run and I was avoiding running talk and feeling envious of those who are running

Finally got back out for a run this morning after more than 6 weeks - cough still not gone but snow has just about cleared ready for the next lot - and it really felt great to get out even if it was absolutely freezing at 630 this morning....

Have now decided though in hindsight it wasn't the cleverest thing to do - has definitely aggravated cough/asthma and tonight has found me at the gp once again....

Hope everybody else can get out for a run in spite of the snow ....

Themasterandmargaritas · 17/12/2010 19:36

I'm being a bit rubbish with posting recently what with work and end of school. But huge congrats to peachy and HighFibre. Smile

Twink, I hope you are enjoying your work and this time of year is not too tough for you and mini-T. Thinking of you both and you too Wheely for your friend.

Twenty seven degrees today and a lovely 10k run under blue skies, I feel a world apart from you all with your snow. HighFibre you will soon be in the same position. Grin

peachsmuggler · 17/12/2010 20:46

Yes, hope Moshi and Twink feeling ok. Hopefully Xmas being round the corner and spending it with friends and/or family will get through the hard times

Wheely, best wishes to your friend, what a shock it must have been for everyone. Let us know how she's doing.

No running here. Been busy week and feeling a bit wiped out. Going up north for Xmas so not planning running there, but Jan looking good as DP not working just now so will try little runs during the daylight hours!

sfxmum · 18/12/2010 00:13

hello

thinking of you all as anniversaries and Christmas get so near

not much running, not even gym, just dh and dd constantly with some bug or other, it is exhausting

weekend busy too then up north for Christmas

hope everyone keeps well take care

allbie · 18/12/2010 11:27

Just run 6 miles in thick snow...bloody loved it!

MrsWednesday · 20/12/2010 22:58

Was also thinking of Moshi and Twink today when out running: hope you are as ok as you can be, it's a hard time of year when you are missing your loved ones.x

Wheeley, hope your friend is ok, sounds like an horrendous shock for everyone.

Congratulations on the pregnancy news!

Sfxmum, same here with the lurgies and general unwellness - although I'm escaping the madhouse (and the germs!) a bit by getting out and going for the odd run. It is so beautiful at the moment, had freezing fog last night so all the trees were covered in white frosting when I went out this morning (only had a bit of snow though).

Happy festive running, hope you all can get out if you need to (bloody hard work running in snow!!!)

passmyglassplease · 21/12/2010 10:42

Gosh I am impressed that you guys are still able to get out in this weather

I feel so guilty as I haven't been able to get out since last Wednesday.

that in itself is not so bad, but I am supposed to be training for the LM! Hmm

I am very nervous of running in the snow and fear injury, I am based in London so most of the snow is either compacted ice or slush by now. I need motivation and a HUGE amount of it right now!

Keep on running Grin

cestlavie · 21/12/2010 15:02

Well done to all those still getting out and about, especially running through the snow!

As passmyglassplease says, London is just an icy, slushy mess which makes it just horrendous and dangerous to run in at the moment so it might be past Christmas before I'm out again Confused

Hope everyone gets some suitably running-orientated Christmas goodies (pathetically, I've got new running socks on my list...!)

MrsWednesday · 21/12/2010 16:03

New running shorts are on my Christmas list as my current ones keep falling down. Not good in this weather Grin

passmyglassplease · 21/12/2010 16:14

I have a Adidas climate control wind break top, I already have one and use it on every run, so have requested another from Santa so that I wont smell so bad in the NY Grin

sfxmum · 21/12/2010 16:44

running sock are a must and make a difference imo

yes London is awful icy now, very annoying don't so much mind the cold but the slipping about is another story

I got some running gear as a present to myself when ordering for dhXmas Grin

MoshiMoshi · 22/12/2010 09:33

Thanks for the thoughts, Weds and peach. Much appreciated. I have been finding it tough but getting out there to keep up with my scheduled runs in readiness for VLM. The snow made running 12 miles on Richmond Park on Sunday feel much further and aggravated an old calf injury but I feel all the better for keeping on with it.

drNo - we may get a Vizsla now having done a bit of research. Beautiful Hungarian gun dogs who can also point and retrieve although ours will mainly be subjected to running a lot with me Grin!

Happy running everyone. The big thaw is happening here in London so watch you don't slide on the slush which feels worse than the snow if you ask me!

Twink - hope you are ok.

Hello ! Happy Christmas everyone.

Had a good one here - my friend is at last on the mend after quite a worrying couple of weeks with things taking longer than expected but she's out of ITU and things are looking up. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

Got out running this morning, not having run for ab out 10 days. Was good to get out again despute hte fact it was a bit of a run/slide on the ice Grin. Going to get back to 3x week and do the Kingston breakfast 8 mile run in March and then Great South Run in October. Those are my running goals for 2011.

passmyglassplease · 27/12/2010 17:49

Merry xmas everyone, I feel I can show my face on here again as I managed to get out running this afternoon, yeah Grin

yes the thaw is finally happened here in north London although it is still treacherous in certain places

my NY resolution is to not be distracted from my training schedule for the LM, and to get my arse back to the running club so that they can whip me into shape Grin

keep on running

allbie · 28/12/2010 19:52

Found wearing my cross-country runners really helped in the snow and ice. Have managed to keep running. Glad to see the thaw though.

peachsmuggler · 29/12/2010 22:40

Things are a bit grim here. Had a miscarriage so feeling pretty low.

We are staying with family so hoping to do some running when we get back to London.

Goldfrankincenseandmyrrhberry · 30/12/2010 17:03

Oh no - so sorry to hear your news peach Sad.
Well done everyone who's managed to keep running through the bad weather. I thought I'd finally show my face as I've just been for a run for the first time in over 3 weeks Blush. I did do a few exercise dvds, but it's definitely not the same!
Happy running all.

MoshiMoshi · 30/12/2010 19:10

peach - I am so sorry! Look after yourself. Running is a great help I find when dealing with difficult times.

OP posts:
sfxmum · 30/12/2010 19:16

peachy so sorry for your loss, it a horrid experience to go through, do be kind to yourself

I will go out running tomorrow, for a variety of reasons the last time I went out was the 2ndShock have been to gym in between but nothing of note for the last couple of weeks, I am sure I will be puffing my way through it
