Immigration is purely to depress wages - why would companies pay for a native worker when they can hire an immigrant for 20℅ less?

That's just the start. The great thing about immigrants is they are politically disenfranchised unless and until they become citizens. So they can be milked for taxes with no say where that money goes. Troublemakers can be deported easily. and when they have served their purpose they can all be deported.

Windrush was a trial run, not an aberration. They'll have ironed out the kinks and be back to try again.

No taxation without representation - the battle cry of the US revolution and the poll tax protests. That was a crazy day in Trafalgar square (fades into memory).

Re migrant labour, most studies support the finding that it’s much less than low wages and much more that British employers appreciate the migrant work ethic. My anecdotal experience, such that it is, mirrors this.

Ha ha! Grease-Smug's European Research Group has to release their research to the public!

Well, we have a new contender for the World's shortest book...

They are the original "I've done my own research" Nobheads.

Maybe it will help them get a refund ?

Labour will make Brexit work for Britain.

YukoandHiro · 31/05/2023 11:30

Ha ha ha.

Yes, I like it. Let's take it.

No we don't need it, asbolute rot from JM, start to finish. More to the point, what happens when all those people who've supposedly come here to work reach retirement age? We need fewer people living here, not more.

But all those fit, young, single Europeans that came to work and would then leave back to their own countries weren't what you wanted. What we have now is the only alternative, unless you honestly think that all those on benefits will go out and pick crops and wipe people's bottoms, in which case you're, frankly, an idiot...

LouiseCollins28 · 31/05/2023 13:21

Depends what their prospective employers pay them doesn't it? and what alternatives they are (or aren't) offered. No, I don't honestly think all those on benefits will be doing anything of the sort. How many do will depend on their ability and how they are incentivised.

HannibalHeyes · 31/05/2023 16:26

As we see, a basic grasp of economics is well beyond most Brexshitteers.

Another case in point here;

The Australia and NZ trade deals kick in today.

According to the official UK Government impact assessments, they will mean losses of:

  • £142 million a year to British agriculture, forestry and fishing.
  • £322 million a year to British semi-processed food manufacturers.

Those trade deals are another F up thanks to Trussonomics aren’t they? One woman band to reduce this country to economic rubble.

Fintan o'Toole describing Louise's Brexshit perfectly.

Seriously, what's the point? Why would I take a moments notice of what F O'T says about anything?

I am allowed to want what I want. Neither you, nor he can deny me those sentiments. If you were serious you'd be asking what #rejoin had to do to get me to back it? You don't.

RafaistheKingofClay · 31/05/2023 23:51

I thought pay rises were inflationary and a bad thing. That’s what Steve Barclay told us when he gave us another below inflation payrise rather than restoring some of our pay to what it was 13 years ago.

DuncinToffee · 01/06/2023 08:10

Why would we ask you about #rejoin?

You wanted brexit and you got it.

verdantverdure · 01/06/2023 14:58

Wow,

Still,

What does a former secretary of the Treasury, director of the National Economic Council and president of Harvard University know?

HannibalHeyes · 01/06/2023 17:43

We've had enough of experts...

wildfirewonder · 01/06/2023 17:53

Brexit was a historic geopolitical error too. Having to work so hard just to try to make up lost ground is discouraging.

We need fewer people who retire early and more working age people..But if those people come here, work and pay taxes why shouldn't they benefit from that like everyone else? Or are you suggesting a two tier system?
