Re Sturgeon and the NSP… MPs and MSPs are required to toe the party line rather than represent their constituents' interests

yes, I’ve this as well from colleagues in Scotland. My response to that was it’s disappointing but not surprising to hear that Sturgeon is like every other political leader demanding MPs toe the party line rather than represent their constituents interest right from the Tories (Brexit being the biggest) to Labour (with the .01 women with a penis) to Greens to Lib Dems (remember student tuition fees) etc.

She is a good communicator and that’s certainly different from Boris Peppa Pig Johnson who can read an autocue but that’s it, and she seemed to take early steps to manage the pandemic before Boris shake everybody’s hands Johnson.

But you are misreading, and getting needlessly angry about, comments here. Including mine. For the record, I am not gung ho about Scotland leaving 🤔 If you see what I wrote, I said that I’d be sorry to see Scotland leave the UK.

And no I don’t think that the police raids are just one of those unfortunate events that happens to parties sometimes It’d be disappointing but again not surprising to hear that Sturgeon and/or her husband mismanaged or expropriated party funds etc. I meant what I said ie that she knew what was coming and stepped down quickly.

Awkward

Rishi Sunak can't get anyone to ask him a question about his maths announcement or an anything else.

Many years ago, I attended a "Cameron Direct" (with a young person) at a local school.

It was obvious that he was completely floored by the fact that no one wanted to talk about what he did, and everyone wanted to talk about immigrants. In some very colourful terms that he (to his credit) strongly criticised.

Finally, he got to talk about what he wanted - the NHS. Very first question was from an EU national who asked why they should bother being an anaesthetist in the UK if no one wanted them.

This was 2008.

Young person came away concluding Cameron was "full of shit".

Somewhere there is a video of that, as they were all videoed. But this one never made it to the CCHQ website however, here's another random one.

It’s probably good for him they didn’t ask questions. He’d probably only end up saying he liked Mexican coke again.

Please can the next thread title include pointythings’s highly accurate ‘jacuzzi of shit’ reference for the current state of affairs in the UK just because it really made me laugh Grin

The irony that Brexit has stopped direct trains from Brexit Britain to a theme park dedicated to a fantasy land will be lost on Brexiteers.

For your edification and enjoyment. The control of the leadership over the SNP goes way way beyond what the Whips do at Westminster.

I haven't seen this before

n Oct 2016, David Davis, the then Brexit secretary, told the House of Commons that “there will be no downside to Brexit at all, and considerable upsides”.

Well, today the "Davis Downside Dossier" - which records Brexit downsides - just passed 1,000:

It also allows hoovering up more click stats that can be sold to whatever political party is paying today.

For the Last 1,000 Years, the Same Families Have Owned Most of England

Shortly after the Normans conquered England in 1066, their monarch, William, seized all of the lands, then divvied up control among those soldiers and nobles who helped him defeat the Anglo-Saxons (and keeping a fair bit for himself). However, as drama...
