www.itv.com/news/2022-06-09/brexit-cost-the-uk-billions-in-lost-trade-and-tax-revenues-research-finds

Centre for European Reform figures show that by the end of last year, the economy was 5% - or £31 billion - smaller than it would have been if the UK had stayed in the EU.

Yes, but Corbyn.
And Sovereignty.

I have the popcorn out ready for the Tory infighting over the coming months.

DuncinToffee · 10/06/2022 09:55

Starting with Sunak losing £11bn of tax payer's money?

Peregrina · 10/06/2022 10:24

Don't forget that Sunak also wrote of a few billions of fraudulently claimed furlough money. When you are as rich as he and his wife, what's the odd billion?

I was doing my online grocery order last night...

My usual 1kg tub of butter is now...£9! (Was £6 last time I ordered it...)

(I ordered 2 x 500g at £7 instead)

That's almost an hours work at nmw for a tub of butter 😮

(Yes, we get through a lot of butter!)

This is unsustainable.

GE this winter or early next year.

SerendipityJane · 10/06/2022 12:05

Anyone else having trouble hearing over that noise ?

(What noise ?)

The noise of Tory fanbois rubbing their hands together as "bricks for benefits" opens up an unparalleled vista for fraud and criminality.

Remember how this government were warned their various Covid support schemes were mysteriously open to abuse. This will make that look like tiddlywinks.

That's very expensive! I don't know how people are going to manage, everything is going up so much. I logged into online shopping to change the order and four items had gone up in the last couple of days.

Chevyimpala67 · 10/06/2022 21:33

Yes, it's ridiculously expensive.

Got a phone call earlier today - the owners have cancelled our holiday accommodation (we are due to go in a month...)

Found another rental but its £400 more for the same area, same week, smaller place :(

pointythings · 10/06/2022 21:40

Cost of living is insane. I can actually see civil unrest coming from this now.

The sad thing is it's costing so much now that we won't have as much money to spend in the local economy whilst there:(

Sigh.

Chevyimpala67 · 11/06/2022 06:09

I've just realised we are paying almost double what we paid for accommodation in 2019...same area, same week...

If it does, you can bet it'll be directed at the wrong people.

HannibalHeyes · 11/06/2022 13:00

A telling letter from Boris' 1st cousin once removed, how he doesn't even value his own family...

prettybird · 11/06/2022 13:26

Given how BJ treated the grandson of his supposed idol, Churchill, you wouldn't expect t him to have any respect for his own grandfather Hmm

borntobequiet · 11/06/2022 19:25

The sort of Brexit consequence predicted on these threads many a time and oft.

Chevyimpala67 · 11/06/2022 19:33

Oh, well.
I'm sure Vera down the road can knock up some immunotherapy in her shed...
Ffs.
Project fear my arse.

TheABC · 11/06/2022 20:08

Hmmm. If this is true, the Honiton by-election will be one to watch. I've discounted it before because there seemed be such a large Tory majority.

Nah.
They'll still vote the fuckers in.
Much reduced majority though...

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 11/06/2022 20:23

An astonishing letter, Hannibal. But he'll not read it anyway.
Belated thanks for the new thread, OP.

pointythings · 11/06/2022 20:36

A slashed majority will do a lot of damage, but losing the seat would be better.

Will it, though?
Maybe I'm just too jaded by years of this gaslighting govt but...will it?
Because right now it feels like we will never be rid of De Pfeffle or the tories
