Funny how people are outraged at Putins lies, and no one mentions Johnson and Patels lies. Part of the doublethink Orwell described.

Under the Home Office's "generous" scheme dragged out of them reluctantly the refugees currently en route to my db - my (Ukrainian) SIL's cousin's wife, her sister, his MIL and daughter - would not be able to enter the country Fortunately, db now lives in France and after they've been processed at the Ukrainian border, they'll be free to drive across Europe (they're "lucky", at least they have a car) to stay with db. Db doesn't have the room: he only has 3 bedrooms and has 2 11/12 year old kids, but needs must.

My SIL's cousin won't be with them - he's had to stay behind to fight for his country

I can see the point of displaced people wanting to go to somewhere where they already have relatives. This will make it a little easier for them, but let us not pretend that this is generous. Then we have Tory MPs whining. They have been caught out badly and it shows.

But the HO's definition of "relatives" - even their supposedly more "generous" definition - is ridiculously restricted - especially in this time of war

The speed of the EUs reactions are almost inversely proportional to the Russian advance.

Not sure who was on Today on Wednesday (may have been MK) but I could feel them wincing as the EU minister repeated how the UK was now following the EU. The relief when they could get back to speaking to a Tory Shill (can't recall his position) who then droned one about the UK being at the forefront of sanctions yah di dah.

Well I was finding that Ukraine invasion thread quite interesting but it’s surprising to see how many are still going on about nato. Meanwhile it’s fairly depressing to have it confirmed just what a shite government we have here.

Meanwhile it’s now against the law to use the word ‘war’ in Russia . Did they borrow johnson’s banning of the word ‘Brexit’? Russia outlaws protests. Johnson’s government wants to make protest illegal. All that time together downing Russian vodka and caviar, seems like they’ve been brainstorming how to screw over their citizens and extract the most money from taxpayers.

Anyone got any good news?

That person deserves all the vitriol she gets.

She is, like the rest of the cabinet, a venal, self serving huckster.

AFAIK anus's are not gender specific BTW (that is, we all have one) but nice try at the misogyny allegation 👏

It occurs to me that the majority of their cities cabinet and PM have been proven to be liars.

Some - like Priti Patel and the PM - have been savked from jobs for it.

Sadly now its seen as a valuable trait. People with no honour will do or say anything.

Handy to have a few of those types around eh?
