Has Truss been having voice coaching, or smoking too many cigars at illicit parties?

Well famously Thatcher took elocution lessons. (When asked whether he thought it worked for her or not, the late Jonathan Miller described it as "like a perfumed fart") so maybe la Truss is following in her footsteps ?

I guess if she starts fucking miners we'll know the truth.

Just had a call from the CEO of a company I interviewed with offering me the job Wine

Many thanks to all for the good vibes that carried me through. Looks like this is a 50% pay jump compared to the role I was in before Xmas too. Although DW and I have already factored in the extra fuel bills and general inflation. Still 2 days a week from home saves on petrol.

AuldAlliance · 26/01/2022 14:02

Excellent news, DGR!!!

pointythings · 26/01/2022 14:06

Brilliant news, DGR! Congratulations!

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2022 14:12

Nice one DGR, congratulations!

DGRossetti · 26/01/2022 14:17

Thanks all Grin

Traffic through Rosslare up 371% in a year.

But covid ....

May I tip a glass to our Hibernian posters.

They really don't understand what they negotiated, oven ready deal...

The EU doesn't need our understanding. It needed our signature. Which - courtesy of Boris Johnson - they got.

All else is moot.

If the UK were serious about it, then it would renege on the agreement and accept the consequences. However (and it's telling) the moment there are real consequences to an action, no politician dare do it.

Which is almost but not entirely unlike my imagination of how Churchill would have behaved. Although asking what he would have done over the NIP is also moot, as he wasn't such a duplicious moron to have signed it.

In fact I'm surprised there haven't been more memes of Boris returning triumphantly from Munich Brussels with a piece of paper going "Peace in my mindtime" ...

Has she been at the dentists? It looks and sounds like half her mouth is still frozen.

DGRossetti · 26/01/2022 15:35

Shades (again) of John Major and the downfall of Thatcher ...

AuldAlliance · 26/01/2022 16:31

You could be right, DGR
Or perhaps she's digging deep to try and unearth some gravitas?

I always said ROI would benefit. English speaking, close ties to the USA, already with expertise in pharma, IT, financial services and liked and respected in Europe. About time.
I did notice the DUP asking at PMQs for the Protocol to be dismantled and telling downright lies about its “damaging effects”.

prettybird · 26/01/2022 16:41

I know James O'Brian was debating whether Truss had been taking elocution lessons to lower her voice at the end of last week. He even found an old clip and a recent clip to compare her past and present voices.

Hopefully Brexit is pushing Ireland closer to the US - yet another pain in the treaty for the UK. Incidentally, have the DUP not got the memo yet ?

DW deserves a lot for putting up with me. Maybe a weeks break in Ireland could be on the cards ? (We've done Iceland, so it's in keeping with an alphabetical theme). And if it seems I am a little bit treasonous to enjoy the schadenfreude of the UKs decline ... well as DS has been told (as I was before him) "You're not really British anyway ..."

Where's good for accessibility ? I guess Dublin might be a good starting place ...

DoctorTwo · 26/01/2022 18:32

@DGRossetti if I ever go overseas again my itinerary will include both Ireland and Iceland, though my reasons for visiting both are to do with cricket. Ireland are currently associate members, something that Iceland hopes to be by 2025. Good luck to them both. Iceland want an international team to visit this summer to play on their one dedicated cricket ground. I'd love to see them plat their first game against international opposition, even if it's just an English village team.

TheABC · 26/01/2022 19:54

I am happy to be wrong: there is a clearly defined Brexit bonus with this news about Rosslare.

Given the number of headaches caused by the NIP, it's good to know our western neighbour is benefiting from some growth as a result.

Who'd have thunk ?

Canadas absence from international cricket remains a mystery.

Not that I care. Although I had a nice time at an awards ceremony at Edgbaston last year ...

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 26/01/2022 22:51

Congratulations on the new job, DGR.

TheABC · 27/01/2022 10:02

Another one with the congratulations, @DGRossetti.

That's great news. :-)

DGRossetti · 27/01/2022 10:09

Once again - many thanks. I start 7/2/2022 (or as I told my US friends 2/7/2022 Grin). So after that I'll be posting a lot less here.

So we've got until then to undo Brexit ...

Sostenueto · 27/01/2022 11:00

Congrats @DGRossetti 🥂🍾🌟💐👏

UltimateFoole · 27/01/2022 12:19

Yay! for DGR - that sounds brilliant. Well done.
