Brexit Megathread - Part 1 because it's not over by a long shot

Started a new thread for all things Brexity as the last generic dumping ground reached its 1000 post limit. As this developing shitshow unfolds it's going to be important to share and unload. Clav of course will punt a contrarian view along with unrepentant 'taking back control' so-called Brexiteers. I look forward to seeing the benefits.

This is who we are now - this is what our PM tweets from his official account. At least Trump had more elan and gravitas and I say that through bleeding gums and the heaviest of hearts.

Dominic's howl was the single most powerful cry from the heart I think I have ever seen on social media posted unapologetically for a second time. But as Johnson's deflects forget about health outcomes, forget about cancer just think of rising wages. Scum doesn't touch the sides of that one.

Rising wages, but rising costs too. I'm not sure anyone will be better off. Not another three word slogan for Boris...

You couldn't make The Thick of It today Grin

HannibalHayeski · 05/10/2021 13:53

A good one from Led by Donkeys...

prettybird · 05/10/2021 13:54

Looks like the UK is on course for a period of stagflation. Rise wages due to shortages but rising inflation too with no real growth to mitigate it. Sad

Unlike the rest of the EU (and EFTA) where the real sleeping giant of an economy is waking up again after Covid. Confused

Those young tories sure know how to party..

www.spectator.co.uk/article/drink-spiking-hits-tory-conference

Mr S understands that shortly before midnight an attendee at the Young Conservative reception passed out unconscious. One concerned source said that the man in question could not move when he came to, with an ambulance and a defibrillator being called to revive him. Worried organisers of events used various Tory WhatsApp groups to warn other members of the party’s youth wing to watch their drinks. It’s the latest unpleasant event to hit a conference which has already seen one incident of attempted assault inside the main hotel bar and former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith attacked with a traffic cone outside the venue.

And then there's the assault on a woman in the conference hotel bar.

Must have been after midnight then after WhatsApp came back on line Wink

[quote borntobequiet]Farming Today - shortage of vets to carry out pig culls on farms.

Government says industry will have to make its own contingency plans, despite such culls having to comply with legal requirements, which is probably impossible.

I notice a thread in AIBU about meat eaters should kill their own food.

Doesn't worry me.

borntobequiet · 05/10/2021 15:23

I blame William Wallace, and before him, the Picts.

borntobequiet · 05/10/2021 15:24

I mean for all this Scottish Independence malarkey

vera99 · 05/10/2021 15:37

Bloody Romans coming over here building all those roads, cities, viaducts and stuff... The Picts scared them though needed a wall for them ...

I blame the parcel of rogues for undemocratically signing away our rights for their personal enrichment. Angry

Sound familiar? Hmm

vera99 · 05/10/2021 15:47

The only stupid people are those that voted for them - the rogues are anything but...

www.spectator.co.uk/article/what-s-the-matter-with-boris-

"For all the talk of ten more years of Tory rule, even the most ardent Johnson fans can’t exactly claim he is firing on all cylinders. So, what’s wrong? ‘He’s shattered,’ says one government insider – suggesting Johnson is simply tired. Those who have met with the Prime Minister at this week’s conference confirm that he seems flat.

MPs complain that he hasn’t been out and about as much they’d hoped – he was absent from the Sunday night 1922 reception. Rishi Sunak was the star guest. When Johnson did find time for a reception and addressed Scot Tories on Sunday night, attendees remarked that he appeared rather well lubricated and loose-lipped – sharing his joy that those present could finally ‘shake hands and exchange bodily fluids’. ‘Something's not right,’ said one old timer.

Johnson has reportedly given up booze in solidarity with his pregnant wife. Yet his Twitter account saw him sip a beer and munch on fish and chips. Has he abandoned his widely-briefed health kick?

Johnson being Johnson, he may turn perceptions on their head with a barnstorming conference speech tomorrow. That’s what he does best. But if he doesn’t, expect the comments to grow."

Fat pudding on C4 lying his arse off again

DGRossetti · 05/10/2021 19:22

So - despite the plaintive wails of Brexiteers over the years - Boris has with a single interview blown their "It's nothing to do with immigration" bullshit out of the water. Their spiritual leader - Boris descumbag Johnson has finally admitted it.

At least those of us on these threads that knew it was always the case are vindicated.

vera99 · 05/10/2021 19:32

Thanks for the heads up another car crash on C4. For the visas that we 'don't need' for the tanker drivers that we have enough of for fuel deliveries their scheme has attracted 27 applicants.

There is no planning, no perception of the unfolding disasters and no culpability. He's broken our country may he rot in hell.

He’s such an embarrassment. How the hell have we arrived at this point. We are screwed. Totally and Utterly screwed as long as he remains in office. Food shortages are getting harder to hide in the supermarkets now. Christmas seems like a billion years away.

AuldAlliance · 05/10/2021 19:59

I may have zoned out a little during that interview - did BJ talk about investing in people, skills and equipment, but entirely omit the words education and training?

wewereliars · 05/10/2021 20:04

Empty supermarket shelves; Its the fault of people eating, empty petrol pumps; it's the fault of people driving to work, driving to school, and whatever other louche nonsens they fill their pointless lives with.

His highness , Lord Fuck up, head of the entitled useless robber tribe is not intended to serve any useful purpose. His role is purely decorative

vera99 · 05/10/2021 20:08

If farmers were having to throw away milk he would say well it doesn't matter it would have been drunk anyway.

The tory perpetual revolution means they never have to apologise but as Dominic, the disabled chap who confronted Mogg said You've Been in Power for 10 years.
