In his letter, Cabinet Secretary David Frost, who has never won a democratic election, demanded that he be informed of any contact the devolved governments have with EU institutions.

Priti Patel is considering withdrawing the UK from part of the European Social Charter that gives citizens of 26 countries a £55 discount on application fees for most worker visas.

...

Peregrina · 03/06/2021 12:38

Obviously Patel is turning a deaf ear to Tim Martin's whinging. Just who is going to staff his pubs? Maybe it will be those Hong Kong citizens who are going to come. I rather suspect that the majority of them would have a bit more nous than Martin and would soon get one over him.

Interesting times, hey?

DGRossetti · 03/06/2021 13:05

Obviously Patel is turning a deaf ear to Tim Martin's whinging.

Thus continuing - if not accelerating - the process of smacking the cheerleaders of Brexit soundly in the face before telling them to fuck the fuck off.

Let's see if we can guess the next industry sector or geographic region) that was clamouring for Brexit that is not going to be told You what ? ?

Peregrina · 03/06/2021 13:23

One has to wonder when Johnson and cronies will do something which is directly to the detriment of yellowspanner and co. I expect there will be silence from them.

yellowspanner · 03/06/2021 13:48

Thank you for thinking about me Jasjas even though your post was nasty. Why do you have to be so pointedly nasty to a stranger on an Internet forum?
Anyway. Don't worry sparing a thought for me. I'm fine.
I will not be chased away by all the nastiness towards me on this thread.

They already have done, and there already has been...
yellowspanner · 03/06/2021 13:50

Many of you seem much more interested in what I think and say than you do in what the other posters say. This is good. You might all learn something.

yellowspanner · 03/06/2021 13:53

Hannibal by "Johnson and cronies" I take it you mean our democratically elected Government with its large majority. I fully support their policies. After all I voted for them. They have done nothing to upset me.

yellowspanner · 03/06/2021 13:54

No silence from me Hannibal but I can't speak for "and co."

HannibalHayeski · 03/06/2021 13:56

So you support, say, Priti Patel breaking the law?

HannibalHayeski · 03/06/2021 14:03

Tumbleweed...
Mujtaba Rahman on twitter

‼️The EU will soon adopt a “code of conduct“ for how 27 should interact with UK. Will force a level of transparency, co-ordination on EU capitals & their dealings with London

Unprecedented for EU to do this with a 3rd country. Shows how little 🇪🇺trust there is with 🇬🇧 at moment

twitter.com/Mij_Europe/status/1400353592339468288?s=19
Wasn't it reported the other day that EU capitals have been complaining about the UK trying to split them off from each other, bombarding them with communications and attempts to enter into negotiations outside of the EU sphere?

You have repeatedly said how pleased you are to be free of the ECJ, yet it is the ECJ that has stepped in to protect low paid women, when the UK would not.... What do you think of that? Should the UK ignore the ruling?

I was merely thinking of you and how enraged you must be feeling, if i hated the EU/ECJ and this happened 5 years after leaving, i'd be furious.

Its not a nasty post by any means, even if you don't get the spirit in which it was posted, i don't believe i have ever called or inferred any name calling have i ?

We won't learn a thing from you because you don't argue your point.
FatCatThinCat · 03/06/2021 14:56

I don't get the 'we're free from the ECJ' line trotted out by leavers. Who do they think will settle disputes that arise as a result of the EU/UK trade deal? Because if they think it's not the ECJ then they've clearly not been following closily enough.

FatCatThinCat · 03/06/2021 14:56

*closely

pointythings · 03/06/2021 15:06

Well, at least that's honest for once. So you like it that the Home Office makes 'mistakes' which result in people being unjustly denied residence. You like it that people coming from the EU to spend time with family are denied entry even though they do not need a visa. You like seeing British citizens of EU birth threatened with deportation. Fine, that tells me who you are.

wewereliars · 03/06/2021 15:06

We are seeing the Dunning Kruger effect writ large jajas, so there's that.

Peregrina · 03/06/2021 15:46

So were you happy then with the Windrush deportations then yellowspanner? Are you happy with a Home Secretary who was sacked by the previous PM? Does 'anything go' in your world? Would you have the same tolerance if we had a Labour PM?

I pointed out that at some stage Johnson's Government is very likely to let you down. Are you crossing your fingers behind your back that he hasn't done yet?

Don't bother to answer.

yellowspanner · 03/06/2021 15:54

Peregrina. As it happens I have voted for several parties including the Labour Party. I look at the policies not the headline name of the party.
Obviously the windrush situation was a terrible mistake. The Government apologised. Everyone makes mistakes. I certainly do. The person who does not make mistakes is yet to be born. Or perhaps it's you? 🤷‍♀️

FatCatThinCat · 03/06/2021 15:55

I wonder if yellowspanner is happy that De Piffle has negotiated and signed a trade agreement with the EU that keeps the UK under the jurisdiction of the ECJ, seeing as being free from the ECJ is part of why she's happy to have the tories in charge.

Deporting elderly British citizens to another country is a pretty fucking massive mistake. It's hardly on a par with forgetting to put the bins out.
Peregrina · 03/06/2021 16:04

An uncalled for remark, which spoilt what was for once an honest answer.

That's assuming the UK (in the form of Boris the Breaker) has any intention of adhering to what it signed up to.

After all, if you have fuck all intention of honouring them, then you can make all the promises in the world. And if - as it seems likely - you have nobbled the electoral system to ensure you're never held to account then why in the name of all that's holy would you even pretend ?
