Johnson was definitely not the man for the job, I'm sure there are much more capable Conservative candidates. I believe it, but I'm wary as Cummings is also dishonest.

TatianaBis · 27/05/2021 16:07

Much of what DC says is true other than the stuff that relates to himself.

But then if BJ did a take down of DC much of that would be true too.

They're both selfish arseholes with something of the night in them.

It's a race to the bottom.

FatCatThinCat · 27/05/2021 18:29

So we've been reported to the conservative party for saying mean things. Don't worry everyone, my dad is bigger than theirs.

Seriously is that the level of counter argument we're at, 'I'm telling on you!'? I couldn't cringe any harder if I tried.

As if the Conservative party are even arsed by anon on MN!

I wouldn't lose any sleep. I suspect there may be bigger fish to fry.

Like all the illegal parking on double yellow lines outside my local chippy. (yes im serious. Im more inclined to believe there will be a crackdown on that than on thought crime on MN.)

@jasjas1973

I don't think there is any equivalence between funding of the Tory party and Labour, its just Whataboutery.

One has links back to the Kremlin and the other has fully audited accounts from Unions, which get their money from members who can easily opt out of political levy.

Which shareholders of the many companies who fund the tories cannot not.

Then there is the Govt providing weapons to Saudi to use on Yemeni civilians, whilst cutting aid at the same time to Yemen and many other of the worlds most vulnerable.

Whataboutery?

I think it's about accountability and a problem with lobbying.

Both parties have issues in this department for various different reasons.

I have no doubt there is influence with Russian oligarchs and the Conservative party. But i dont think Labour are squeaky clean by any means either. Just in different ways.

I'm quaking in my boots.

My wifi keeps dropping but only when i'm on MN, my DD hasn't come home and there's a blacked out van parked at the end of the road.

A few other things too but i have to go now, someone's at the door...........

yellowspanner · 27/05/2021 20:08

Elements, it's a lot more than a "mean thing". It's an accusation of acting illegally. Being accused of being funded by people traffickers is more than just saying a mean thing.

pointythings · 27/05/2021 20:31

Well, we all know the Tories are well capable of acting illegally - there was a certain prorogation and many other lost court cases - most recently the one about not allowing EU nationals access to the information the Home Office used in settled or pre-settled status decisions, thereby hindering the legitimate right to appeal.

This government has form, however much you love them, Yellowspanner.

wewereliars · 27/05/2021 20:40

So many erudite and interesting contribtors to this thread, but it only takes one loon to make it hardly worth the bother. It's a shame

Meanwhile back in the real world EU nationals coming to the UK being treated worse and worse.

Oh yes. Scrolling past screeds of c&p can be quite satisfying!
HannibalHayeski · 27/05/2021 21:50

@pointythings

But just wait until they start doing the same to us!

Oh no, that mean, bullying EU...

prettybird · 27/05/2021 21:52

Pathetic Sad. And outrageous Angry.

How to win friends and influence people Confused

yellowspanner · 27/05/2021 22:13

Pointythings, we are not talking about the Government. We are talking about the Conservative party.

borntobequiet · 27/05/2021 22:44

The Bhutan giant flying squirrel can be over 120 cm long! Imagine being hit on the head by that.

DrBlackbird · 27/05/2021 23:26

@pointythings

Utterly shocking. What utter thugs our border force has quickly become. It sounds very much like how the US immigration officers act, but the UK is not the US and our European neighbours tend to be better off than central and many South American countries. The end result is likely to be even more job vacancies.
Blacktothepink · 27/05/2021 23:55

Surely we need tourism from EU Countries for our economy...all this thuggery is economic suicide.

Peregrina · 28/05/2021 05:20

But no matter-EU citizens will be replaced by Hong Kong cktizens. Who, if the stereotypes are correct, are industrious and enterprising. This will please a handful of Leavers and piss off the considerably greater number who were influenced by Farage.

Hang on, we are welcome some visitors from the EU.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57272249

At last, an EU leader who Johnson can find a kindred spirit in.

FatCatThinCat · 28/05/2021 07:28

The way EU citizens are being treated is disgraceful but I can't help but wonder what sort of muppet tries to go on an undefined, meandering road trip round another country in the middle of a global pandemic.

pointythings · 28/05/2021 07:32

@yellowspanner

Pointythings, we are not talking about the Government. We are talking about the Conservative party.
Remind me, which party is currently in government? Honestly, stop digging now.
Peregrina · 28/05/2021 08:59

But threatening someone that you will report them to the Tory Party seems absurd. What will they do? Send someone with their zimmerframe round to beat you up?
