The government is advising people to move their businesses to the EU to avoid UK taxation and red tape.

Why would you do this?

For the interests of the uk?

Or is it about power WITHIN the uk?

Houses of Parliament ablaze.

twitter.com/FarhangNamdar/status/1353354948378042369

Fire alarm at the Houses of Parliament has sounded across Westminster Bridge with onlookers filming footage showing what appeared to be smoke rising from the iconic London landmark.

Can you imagine how long it must take to find a source of smoke in that place ? Especially with all the mirrors.

Daphne.
Always flowers at this time of year. Smells WONDERFUL
but our snow really was pretty pathetic Smile

Peregrina · 24/01/2021 15:48

Is your MP a prick?

Helocariad · 24/01/2021 15:58

Great site @Peregrina! My MP isn't a prick but I knew that already

RedToothBrush · 24/01/2021 16:08

LQ I thought it was. I ordered one last week thats part of the reason I asked. Its not due to turn up until March. I need a shrub for the garden and I've been agonising over it for months . In the end I went for a winter flowering Daphne. Sounds like I've probably made the right call.

Love Daphne - but be aware it's poisonous

Maybe time to ban it then.
ListeningQuietly · 24/01/2021 16:21

Daphne is indeed poisonous
but so are LOTS of our other plants
and we've not killed the kids yet
admittedly I did ban the brugmansias and ricinis when they were little

DGRossetti · 24/01/2021 16:21

@Peregrina

Is your MP a prick?
Putting aside the fact that "prick" appears to have become gender neutral Hmm apparently my MP is not "a prick".

However that means nothing, as they supported the party and voted for Boris deal, which means I have about 95% less time for them than I previously did. Great way to undo all your previous work. Call me a weirdo, but I like to know my MP is working for their constituents, not their central party.

Just trolling. It's amazing how many plants we are allowed to grow that can kill with a few mouthfuls (one foxglove killed a little girl a few years back) when you consider the total and utter waste of everything that is the "war on drugs".

I didn't waste my time at Uni in the 80s. I was a keen ethnobotanist Grin

I have been ultra careful over not getting poisonous plants. Its the only thing that is.

I don't plan on eating it and since we have worked out DS is allergic to strawberries he's avoided all berries anyway.

DH is on his own. He can take his own chances. He has good life insurance.

RTB
This book is old
www.abebooks.co.uk/products/isbn/9780112427186?cm_sp=bdp--ISBN10--PLP
but its REALLY good.
Because it explains HOW the plant is toxic and quantifies the actual risk (how many people killed or made ill per decade)
and whether a plant is so emetic (makes you puke) that the real risk is low.

SabrinaThwaite · 24/01/2021 16:42

I have a stupid cat, so I also have to be careful what I plant.
