The Silence is Deafening

For the last however long, I have read threads and posts by Remainers stating confidently that the Prime Minister wanted a No Deal, would get a No Deal. Here are just a few quotes. Some Remainers may recognise their own predictions:

'He is going to give us No Deal and then fuck off into the sunset with millons in bungs from his crooked mates,'

'I'm pretty certain on no deal...'

'I fully expect a No Deal Brexit.'

'Bojo will 'deliver' no deal and then F off into the sunset'

'Boris Johnson and your disingenuous divs - How dare you try and spin a NoDeal'

'He was elected to not get a deal and to make his supporters feel good about the fact the had stuck it to the man (or something).'

There are lots more if you want them.

Now he has obtained a deal, where are all the threads by remainers? Do any have the the guts to hold up their hand up and say 'I was wrong'?

Posted too soon! - taking it to the wire like they did has done no one any favours. And a whole heap of stuff hasn't been sorted out yet. If it had been as wonderful and "oven ready" as they harped on about last year, there's no way it would have taken this long.
And prey tell, OP, from what you have seen of the deal we have, how are we better off than we were before. And I'm not interested in "sovereignty" as an answer.
I am so relieved my DCs have got Irish passports.

akerman · 25/12/2020 13:08

I feared a no deal, thought that it was what his backers wanted, am relieved it’s not quite as bad as that, but will never forgive the loss of Erasmus. Is that good enough for you, OP. Hope your Christmas improves so you don’t feel the need to start more toady threads.

lyinginthegutterstaringatstars · 25/12/2020 13:09

Fuck sale it's Christmas . Go and put your turkey in the oven

akerman · 25/12/2020 13:09

Goady toady. Whatever.

BillysMyBunny · 25/12/2020 13:10

Just because we have a deal doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a particularly good deal or that it’s any better than what we had before though.

Mistigri · 25/12/2020 13:10

Yawn.

Lots of people (me included) have long thought that a deal was inevitable, because no deal was just too shit. Especially when you wreck your negotiating position by telling the world that you have MUTANT VIRUS, forcing them to shut the borders, and giving you a handy preview of no deal.

Just a reminder that new barriers to trade go up in (counts) three and a half working days, and your government is busy telling people that because of the deal there will be no non-tariffs barriers. Lol.

MarinPrime · 25/12/2020 13:11

Yes I thought the same OP. Some remainers on mumsnet were adamant that no deal was the plan all along. Other opinions were shouted down.
They didn't realise that when BJ said we might end up without a deal he was using a common negotiating tactic.

DioneTheDiabolist · 25/12/2020 13:12

Merry Christmas OP.Xmas Smile

Terracottasaur · 25/12/2020 13:13

I’m a remainer; very glad we got a deal but have serious doubts about the nature of that deal.

This is a good article OP, you should read it: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/dec/15/boris-johnson-pandemic-britain-christmas-covid

bornatXmastobequiet · 25/12/2020 13:13

I thought you meant without relatives round for Christmas and I was ready to feel sorry for you. But clearly you have found something to do.
This deal is a pretty shit deal but, as pp have said, better than no deal, which is odd, as we were often told that no deal was better than a bad deal. Happy Christmas.

KarmaNoMore · 25/12/2020 13:14

Read in detail, you will see that Boris is lying already about significant parts of te “deal”. I would be surprised if it gets approved by either ours it the EU Parliament unless is approved by both parliaments as the least worse of two options.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 25/12/2020 13:15

Aren't you full of the spirit of Christmas Hmm

Starlive23 · 25/12/2020 13:15

@IMNOTSHOUTING ...exactly!!

I totally thought this was going to be a post about someone being at home alone for Xmas...not some shite about remainers not being disgruntled enough on Xmas day!

TrialOfStyle · 25/12/2020 13:18

I actually clicked on this because I thought you were going to say you’re alone this Christmas.

You are clearly having a shit day though, so have these Flowers

freezedriedromance · 25/12/2020 13:19

I voted to leave, but ffs its Christmas day, give it a rest.

StopSquirtingBleachOnCaneToads · 25/12/2020 13:22

I think it's just because it's Christmas.

I think people will be too busy right now, but then over the coming days people will start to talk about it. I can't imagine they'll be saying anything positive, but then again I haven't read all the details so I could be wrong. Maybe BoJo has performed a Christmas Mircale...

Helmetbymidnight · 25/12/2020 13:22

i want to see more details but everything points at it being a very crap deal.

what do you want remainers to say? we've lost soo much. are you expecting us to celebrate that youve fucked us over?

baroqueandblue · 25/12/2020 13:24

OP, keep BeLeaving. You're going to need some pretty cast iron delusions to see you through the reality of Brexit Britain. You ain't seen nothing yet, and you won't be able to blame Remainers for the ugly shape this country takes over the coming months.

Enjoy your gloating while you can Biscuit

Helmetbymidnight · 25/12/2020 13:25

and even if i had expected a no deal or as the liar called it 'an australian deal'- i didnt, it wouldbe proper ruinous- but even if i did, so what? we're in a far worst position now than we were before. do you still not understand that?

akerman · 25/12/2020 13:26

Johnson has not performed a Christmas miracle at all.

But at least it’s not no deal. Given that the markets feared no- deal I don’t quite know why people here are sneering at the very idea of it.
But you’ve now got lots of us saying that there’s a deal, OP, so go off and have your Christmas day. It’s not a deafening silence at all.

OhLittleBoreOfWhabylon · 25/12/2020 13:28

We wish you a goady Christmas...

EstherMumsnet · 25/12/2020 13:28

We've moved this to the Brexit talk area. Merry Christmas (and be nice to each other!)

Stuffofawesome · 25/12/2020 13:31

Yeah great deal so happy for us all

A deal but a shit deal. But as we are not personally threatened by job cuts and are not working class tories living in the north, we will stand back and just let the Brexiteers get on with it.,

“Take what you want, take it and pay “ was never more applicable.

quackson · 25/12/2020 13:38

It's Christmas Day!!! I am ignoring the news for this very reason.

Perhaps this is part of BoJo's plan, the twat.

Merry Christmas OP! Xmas WinkXmas HmmXmas SmileXmas Biscuit
