@DoubleTweenQueen

It’s clear. When I see some of the guff that’s touted and recycled as fact, it’ll too clear. What do you mean by move on? Move on to no longer question, or research, or want to get involved with stuff? Is that what you mean? What gives you the right to give anyone instruction? Rather arrogant - and very often dismissive, generalising, and insulting. My thoughts and beliefs are just as valid as anyone else’s, even yours! You offer nothing to the debate.
Are you describe yourself in the third person here?
DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 22:16

What?

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 22:17

You really have nothing meaningful to share, do you!

yellowspanner · 01/01/2021 22:23

Sally, for your information, I was brought up in abject poverty with an alcoholic father in Toxteth, so don't you dare suggest that I am middle class, rich or entitled.
I know poverty all too well, probably a lot more than you realise so don't you be so bloody patronising.
You sound like an angry, bitter, middle class idiot who is upset because young Felicity is missing out on Erasmus.

Otellie · 01/01/2021 22:25

Yes.

Morsmordre · 01/01/2021 22:32

"Yes they like dishing out a hard time to anyone who strays from the path of truth and rightthought
The only one who keeps going is Clav who is insulted, jeered at, sneered at, called every manner of names but she just brushes it aside and carries on.
Full marks to her!"

👏 very true - I was lurking on a previous thread where Clav was trying her best to add her own opinion to a topic, to which she was then belittled for having the audacity to use 'google' to research before posting her thoughts. Fair play to her though, she tried.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 22:35

The cliches. Just so funny at this stage.

BrandySours · 01/01/2021 22:38

I’m here to counter misinformation

Don't worry your head with those sort of lofty ideas!
It's not & has never been a place for 'countering' anything.
It was alway intended to be a friendly place where people could drop in & out (or not, obvs, if you find the place so hideous)

I had also hoped to expand my understanding

Why would you have chosen this thread to do that?!
It has never pretended to be anything other than a pub thread 🤦🏻‍♀️

There's a Bruce Springsteen song "Glory Days" which is what you lot are just reliving "boring stories about glory days".
You have nothing new to say. You just love fighting old battles.
It's going to get really old really soon.
You have started the break up of the UK. I'm fine with that. I think it can be a good, positive thing.

Cmon Bellini, none of the Leavers are fighting anything, they are celebrating and perfectly content, excited/relieved about the future. Remainers have started prodding and looking to heat things up. Let it go, please, for everyone's sake.
Morsmordre · 01/01/2021 22:44

We're not fighting anything - just popped in for a 🍺 that's all. Jeez - if anyone's looking at fighting old battles it's you.

BrandySours · 01/01/2021 22:44

I think its really important to have a rounded view of what the country thinks even if those views are offensive.

I agree with you here Kendodd

I try very hard to follow as wide a range of stuff as I can (even the batshit crazy & nastier stuff)

It's far too easy to get sucked into an echo chamber

I haven't been on MN for ages now, but I always used to follow the WM threads & looked up the various links posted etc for eg

During the lead up to the ref I didn't follow hardly any pro-Brexit stuff at all
I 'knew' my position already (long-time eurosceptic) - but actively tried to see if I could be persuaded otherwise
Nothing was convincing enough for me, hence I voted the way I did

I'm celebrating. I'm just not celebrating what you are celebrating.
NI freedom from Britain.
Scottish sovereignty imminent.
Those are good things that cheer me.

Otellie · 01/01/2021 22:46

The battles already been fought. And won. There is nothing more to debate. It's already done. Now we have people celebrating and others weeping into their wine under the misguided belief that Scotland and NI will be free. Or that they can get back into the EU. That won't happen. Certainly not in your life time.

yellowspanner · 01/01/2021 22:46

Why don't we Brexiteers just enjoy our drinks and talk between ourselves.
Clearly we can add nothing to their debate or interest.
Generally pubs are friendly places where debates and discussions are civilised but the remoaners (and yes you are moaning) on here just want to throw insults because we, personally, cannot ensure young Felicity can study in Paris at full cost to the tax payer. We have denied her this opportunity by casting a legal vote in a legal referendum. No thought for anyone else just their personal opportunities. I suggest young Felicity gets off her backside and looks for her own opportunities rather like I did.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 22:47

You all seem to think I'm about something other than that. Because it suits your narrative.
🤷‍♀️

Good for you - What ever makes you happier and sleep at night Bellini. How was the 🍿 BTW?
bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 22:50

I was young" Felicity ". If a kid from a scuzzy northern town in the 80s is Felicity. I got off my backside and made my own opportunities abroad. So I know what I'm talking about too.

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 22:51

The popcorn is still going. Because you are all still ignoring what you've started.

Kendodd · 01/01/2021 22:51

Not even preserving the peace in NI?
For me that was the stand out, most important thing I read about. It might all turn out ok (ish) but that was a massive gamble, sadly we've already seen the birth of the new IRA and the killing of Lyra Mckee. When you read about the issues around the border in Ireland and the GFA, what did you think?

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 22:53

@Brandysours I was posting in answer to the belligerent regular propping up the bar. The sort that turns and stares rudely, uttering ' you're not from round ere, are you!'
Here's a fiver for the sweatbox, and I'll have a large scotch - and one for yourself. Happy - whatever. I lose track.

BrandySours · 01/01/2021 22:54

Yellow Thanks

It's so dismissive & patronising when people bang on about The Poor! and The Disadvantaged!

My background:
Blue collar working class family
Blue collar working class myself for 20 yrs
Lost my job due to sickness in 2015
Single parent on most basic of benefits until 2019
Had opportunity to do a degree for free, so did that to keep my mind active whilst too ill to hold down a job
Got 1st class 🙌🙌 in 2019
Now working as very junior admin assistant because I have a lot going on with my youngest so can't get job with travel/responsibility (county lines, exploitation etc - all out of nowhere from last December)

I'm scraping by in life, but I'm doing my best
As we all are

Snooty, arrogant pronouncements from middle class 'I know what's best for you' finger-waggers is tedious & patronising wankery 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ahhh, so those people who are in poverty are in that position because it's their fault. If only they got off their back sides and did something about it, just like you did right? You have just exposed yourself as a privileged snob who has no clue what they are talking about. And still fails to understand what went wrong.

Morsmordre · 01/01/2021 22:54

Gone for salty than sweet I'd imagine 😉
