Switzerland recently introduced the worlds highest minimum wage, they also have FoM.

sally067 · 01/01/2021 20:07

@Kendodd

I voted for Boris as Leader of the Party.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can vote for such a vocal racist and misogynist. Have you not heard all the stuff he's said and written over the years? Theres a poster on here who's a real Tory supporter, s/he says we should never repeat the racist stuff he's said/written (I suspect its just to hide his character) but regardless, s/he right, the next generation shouldn't learn the racist/sexist/homophobic language he uses. Awful, awful man, it makes me ashamed to have such a person in charge. Have a Leaver by all means but why would you want such a bigot? And then theres all the lying. I've never seen any politician lie as much as him.

He burnt £50 notes in front of the homeless. He had an affair whilst his wife at the time was undergoing cancer treatment. Some of his children don't speak to him. He speaks of ethnic minorities in pretty disgusting terms. I won't even go into the bare face ability to lie.

I know some people think politicians are entitled to a private life, to make mistakes and have a past. Fair enough but it is within his character to do something like that. There are Cluster B tendencies and red flags all over the shop. I find it insane that people overlook this, you wouldn't work for a leader like this in a job or accept these traits in a partner so why accept and vote for him as a PM just because he plays for your team?

Kendodd · 01/01/2021 20:10

And yet people love him! I think it says as much about them as it does about him.

sally067 · 01/01/2021 20:10

Oh look, here we go, blame an immigrant! Not a single word of criticism of the British bosses I notice, why is that I wonder? Why is it the immigrants that you immediately target for blame and not the bosses?

The reason brexshitters voted for brexit is to stop the foreigners coming in, they can hide that in as much bullshit as they want but it still stands.

We’ve had 17 pages so far on the other thread without any advantages by leavers. The problem for them is that it can’t be said out loud.

BrandySours · 01/01/2021 20:12

There's plenty evidence of cluster B traits in many of the shit-posts on this thread too 🤷🏻‍♀️

Honestly, I don't think I will ever come to a point of understanding why people actively seek out threads which are only going to trigger them & make them angry
And then they join those triggering threads, and deliberately & incessantly poke & poke at other posters to try & rile them up 🤦🏻‍♀️

Madness!

That's because this was never, ever a thread about 'listing advantages', or answering to the demands of anti-Brexit posters

And yet you persist 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

30 pages. And yet no Remoaner can tell us how they plan to get back in to the EU. Tell us your cunning plan. I assume it involves a “People’s March”, John Bercow, Tony Blair and an unelectable Labour Party.

BrandySours · 01/01/2021 20:16

For the love of all that is holy, please no! 😩

I couldn't bear it!

OP posts:
Kendodd · 01/01/2021 20:25

Actually there is a march planned. I went on some of the others, they were great, everyone was so nice and friendly, really good atmosphere. One million people and not a single bit of trouble (unlike the violence that always seems to come from pro Brexit marches). Ours are really save for children to attend :)

BelleHathor · 01/01/2021 20:27

I know comprehension may be difficult in the middle of a rant but I said "Companies recruited directly from Poland and undercut British wages causing companies to cut current employees wages or go out of business"
I never blamed immigrants as you state (it's a natural state to want to improve your life), but understand that is how you need to paint Brexiters in order to justify your ridiculous and rude behaviour.
Good luck, people who are classic left (not this new champagne neoliberal bull) like me predicted Brexit back in 2006 because unlike your fantasist idea of Brexiters all being the home counties sort I am a working class girl who watched as trades people who I knew were undercut.

sally067 · 01/01/2021 20:28

You do realise that in all likelihood no one on this thread is a senior elected official or on the campaign/strategy team for this right so we can't write plans on their behalf?

I can give you my hope but not my plan. The treaty we have signed gives me some hope because much of it allows for a reframing. In effect it is BRINO because we have to abide by EU standards and regulations (not exactly sovereignty and taking back control but besides the point). The treaty sets up not just a framework for constant negotiations but 5 year reviews for adjustment. Anything is possible in 2026: Single Market, alignment, customs union, up to 90% of EU membership – but one thing won’t be – Rejoin.

So get the 2024-2029 parliament out the way, closer alignment where we might at least get some of our rights back such as the ability to work and live abroad. Then from 2029 we'll see - I suspect we will rejoin at some point after that just because of demographics and economic necessity. I suspect levels of xenophobia, jingoism and English exceptionalism will have dropped by then too. It will be interesting to see how much soft power and wealth we have lost by that point as that could determine on whether we have to adopt the Euro and Schengen as a condition for joining.

This all hinges obviously on how Labour fight these elections because FPTP is not particularly progressive in this day and age, the Tories can win a 80 seat majority off the back of 40% of the vote so I am glad to see that Labour are looking to amend their rulebook to allow for electoral pacts so could govern in the event of a hung parliament.

Does that answer your question?

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 20:31

@sally067 I for one found it very interesting, so I thank you

Seriously - the day’s of balanced debate on the ‘other thread’ as you call it are long gone now. You’ve spent four years throwing bile and smart remarks at any poster who even dared to look for any positives or to think differently.

It’s now just an echo chamber of salty bitterness, where the usual suspects jump on any Brexit/positive poster like a pack of hyenas, with snide comments and abuse; egging each other one and patting each other on the back.

As Brandy previously mentioned up thread - the Brexit Arms was created in a pub like fashion where one could pop in for a pint, chew the fat and admire some remarkable art work. Not to satisfy your Answers! Oh... and the door was always open for ANYONE to pop in for a quick tipple as along as they were polite.

Wouldn't mind but the recent clientele haven't even had the courtesy to throw a fresh log on the fire in the Arms or get a round in.... even when it's happy hour!

TerryHearn · 01/01/2021 20:54

I admire the philanthropy of the Remoaners. They want to look after us Brexiteers as we will be the ones to suffer from it. From their lofty position (due to a comfortable deal they have got from our time in the EU) they want to mother us round to their position. Funny that.

Andante57 · 01/01/2021 20:55

I also wonder about Bearbehind as she was a regular on all the Brexit threads for ages.
Maybe she’s still around with a new name.

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 21:25

Try to understand why you lost. Then you will be able to move on.
Morsmordre · 01/01/2021 21:35

You’re more than welcome - especially if you enjoy a drink, twiglets and polite to the barkeep. 😉

bellinisurge · 01/01/2021 21:38

I know why we lost. I'm moving on. With positive stuff. You just don't like where I'm moving to because you are more comfortable in the world where you're all brilliant and people who voted differently are all ... what did your guy say ... "doomsters and gloomsters".

Thistimetamorrow · 01/01/2021 21:41

From memory, and this is going back a few years, the last I read from 🐻, she said she was out. Although she voted remain, and wasn't happy about the result, her view was the quicker we implemented Brexit the sooner we would see it was a mistake.
She got a hard time for her views from the Westminstenders over it.
I think she was also a Tory voter. Maybe there were other reasons too that she didn't share.

DoubleTweenQueen · 01/01/2021 21:42

It’s clear. When I see some of the guff that’s touted and recycled as fact, it’ll too clear.
What do you mean by move on? Move on to no longer question, or research, or want to get involved with stuff? Is that what you mean?
What gives you the right to give anyone instruction? Rather arrogant - and very often dismissive, generalising, and insulting.
My thoughts and beliefs are just as valid as anyone else’s, even yours! You offer nothing to the debate.

Andante57 · 01/01/2021 21:47

She got a hard time for her views from the Westminstenders over it

Yes they like dishing out a hard time to anyone who strays from the path of truth and rightthought
The only one who keeps going is Clav who is insulted, jeered at, sneered at, called every manner of names but she just brushes it aside and carries on.
Full marks to her!

Bellablahhole · 01/01/2021 22:04

Otellie:
"And this is why the remainers failed. For failing to understand the needs of those working class people in areas of mass poverty in the UK, who voted leave because it was the only chance of a better future for them. You have not got a bloody clue".

Well said, Otellie. Remainers can deny it as much as they like, but this is why so much of the North voted for Brexit and this is why the red wall turned blue. We had a voice, and we used it. If you want change you have to make it happen.

Kendodd · 01/01/2021 22:05

It’s now just an echo chamber

I don't live in an echo chamber, I follow loads of Leave groups, (even though its proper depressing) I think its really important to have a rounded view of what the country thinks even if those views are offensive.

Toptotoeunicolour · 01/01/2021 22:06

@yellowspanner

Why do they all hate the UK and want to see its downfall. 🤷‍♀️ I enjoyed the champagne and fireworks last night and some people in my lovely village are flying Union Jacks.
In general, people who enjoy having something "bad" to look forward to, the gleeful harbingers of doom, want to believe government is shit because it helps them believe they are not responsible for the state of their own lives.
