Westminstenders: a feature of the system not a bug

Tests on the new queuing system in Kent have revealed that lengthy tail backs are a feature not a bug.

We should get used to them because thats normal not the system malfunctioning, but the planned system working as designed.

Today we have found out that there's no money left. The economy is fucked. And tomorrow we will probably all be in T3 with the Isles of Wight, the tip of Cornwall and inner Westminster the only places left in T1.

Christmas has apparently been 'saved' though. Well if you are dumb and lacking in functional brain cells its 'saved'. Trade for Christmas is already thoroughly goosed and indoor family gatherings may come with a extra side of covid. The BBC have done an epic job of 'doommongering project fear' style graphics on this wonderful subject.

Tis the season to be jolly. Jolly fucked.

James Cleverly - demonstrating that nominative determinism isn’t a thing.

He repeated that guff about the oven ready deal being only the WA on R4 this morning - I was Shock Confused Hmm

Peregrina · 07/12/2020 11:25

If there is an 'Oven Ready Deal' why are they on a jolly to Brussels then?
Why isn't everyone in Parliament there ready to vote on it?

DGRossetti · 07/12/2020 11:26

I can easily see "Non" being a headline again. Oh dear.
Peregrina · 07/12/2020 11:30

Ah but at least the Heil and Torygraph will be able to blame the Frogs.

TheMShip · 07/12/2020 11:44

When is the IMB re-introduced to the HoC today? Are the problematic clauses still in it? If those haven't been pulled, how can the EU believe Johnson is negotiating in good faith?

SabrinaThwaite · 07/12/2020 11:56

Sometime after 2.30pm today. Government has said it will reinstate those clauses voted down by the HoC.

Brilliant timing really.

As Simon Coveney said “Flexing muscles in Westminster may play well in terms of domestic politics in the UK but I think it has undermined trust with the EU,”

And it won't play well with Biden's Government either. Johnson is now between a rock and a hard place. He can't get a Deal which allows the UK to have its cake and eat it. No Deal would suit him and his moneyed croneys, but he doesn't want to be the one to be seen to smash the economy. Which will be spun as nasty EU bullying us - but with large numbers of people affected, the situation could become very volatile.

He might now be regretting gaining his majority via the Red Wall seats - he has so little understanding of the people there, but has to try to keep them sweet.

Pops head round door, dashes back out again

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 07/12/2020 13:22

The news about the negotiations only makes sense if you believe the UK is negotiating to not get any deal at all.

HannibalHayes · 07/12/2020 13:24

From twitter;

Funny how little hear now about leaving the EU as great bonfire of red tape. Used to be a major talking point. Disappeared. Funny that.

HannibalHayes · 07/12/2020 14:07

And here's Clav's favourite Femi, presumably "misrepresenting" the increasingly mis-named James Cleverly;

Spent a large part of lunchtime trying to talk my dh away from despair at this shit. Yes, I am the optimistic positive one in our house.

Thanks for that, Femi is great. I don't know why Tories are allowed to talk to the media at all though, if they are just going to lie.

DGRossetti · 07/12/2020 14:58

Because they control the media.

ReturntoSpamfritters · 07/12/2020 15:05

I would say they are exercising control over parts of the media and yet are controlled by other parts. Two Beards and Murdoch for example.

Brexshiteers should be hooked up to polygraphs while doing interviews.

You know that "AI" which is actually a load of bollocks ?

Maybe an "AI" filter under the screen with a %age analysis of fact/bullshit.

Red: 70-100% bullshit
Amber: 30-70% bullshit
Green: less than 1 in 3 statements is a crock.

Maybe we could use the same systems they wanted to use for benefit claimants ? After all, if you're willing to use a system to stop payments of £10/week to someone, why wouldn't you use it for payments of millions a year to someone ?

DGRossetti · 07/12/2020 15:34

Fuck Priti Patel. Just Fuck her and her racist claptrap.

ReturntoSpamfritters · 07/12/2020 15:48

Absolutely with you on that one. A lie-ometer would be a game changer.
There should be much more scrutiny of MP's, who they are as people, how they act and where the money goes. We need an MP watchdog, which is really sad as they are supposed to be the people's representatives and upright citizens.
And yes there should be systems in place to prevent them from doing what they are currently getting away with, which is basically robbing us blind.

In further frictionless transport news, a different address to process ATA carnets when using Holyhead. Seamless as ever.
